Nintendo Gaming / Re: Tower of Shadow

Fascinating conceit, although that alone hardly makes for a good game.  Not a huge fan of Hudson but still, this is intriguing.  At first it seems like just an aesthetic decision which wouldn't really affect the gameplay dynamics, but thinking about it more the possibilities open up.  They could have levels where the sun is setting and the shadows grow taller, or a place with artificial lighting or where maybe the light source moves, so the platforms change.  It's also an interesting rendition of 2D gaming, making it in a 3D environment but casting it on a 2D plane within that environment.  I'll probably check this game out, at the very least.  I always admire a company's willingness to do something different.

I don't care about the details, if it's a new Pikmin game I am ecstatic by default.

This I am psyched for.  I loved the first Galaxy but it ended too quickly and I thought that they didn't do everything they could with it.  Normally I'd be iffy about a direct sequel so soon, but this is pretty much exactly what I wanted so I am thrilled.

I really need to get my Wii and catch up on all the games I've missed.  I am so far behind.  I haven't played in nearly a year, and now more incredible games are coming out.  This is what I get for slacking.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Metroid Other M
« on: June 06, 2009, 03:53:41 PM »
I would just like to post for the first time in months to say that this game, as it appears now, looks like a generic piece of crap.  It does not seem imbued with any of the mysticism, solitude, exploration, or raw wonder of Metroid games, and looks like your standard non-stop action schlock.  And to add insult to injury, the visuals are ugly as sin, too.

That said, it is Metroid and Nintendo is at least looking at its development, so I'll follow it with caution.

Socks, pajama pants with a penguin pattern on them, and a plain white t-shirt with a homemade picture on front: Kevin Spacey in a suit pointing at himself, with some words below the picture that say "Will there be any more fabulous popes?"
My boxers, underneath the pajama pants, are black and have red devils on them.

Great stuff, and yes, absolutely hilarious (of course it was supposed to be!).  Awesome re-envisioning of his Dirty Harry persona.  Old Clint is incredible.  He is the oldest, meanest man alive.  It's awesome.

« on: January 11, 2009, 10:50:37 AM »
My favorite pies are cherry, pecan, and pumpkin.  I enjoy eating pie with ice cream and sometimes whipped cream.  One time I bought a cherry pie and my friends and I went to see Wall-E and we ate the pie while watching the movie.  Best decision ever.

I also enjoy apple pie, peach cobbler (not sure I've ever had the pie version, but they're similar), key lime pie, and others, but each has a problem that keeps it below my top three.  For instance, I don't like apple pie as much because the apple chunks don't really MESH with the pie, they're too large and distinctive.  The flavors are together but they don't blend perfectly with the crust and everything else.

I love Natchitoches meat pies.  Shepherd's pie is also pretty good.

My mother got this.  She's had my Wii for the past few months, so I've been deprived.  I visited home the other day and got to play it, though.  It's surprisingly effective.  I think I like it.  Shall update more as I use it over Christmas.

Blogging about hating hipsters is like killing someone for being a murderer.

One day I will go on a hipster shooting spree.

I don't think anyone will really mind.  Even the hipsters I didn't kill will be like, "Good job for killing all those hipsters.  I'm glad I'M not a hipster."

God, what a terrible advertising slogan.

Love the commercial though.  And radio Zelda, gawd.

"Vagrant urine."

I read this as vaginal urine and thought for a moment, "Can you tell the difference?"

Now I'm curious, but I don't want to have to take the necessary means to find out.

Rodin.

That's Rodin the sculptor, not Rodan, the giant winged monster.

I don't care what it is, I am getting it.  I have played more Excite Truck than any other game this generation.

I am getting this game.  Why is it not out in the US?  I need this.  If it does not get a release I will confront Reggie and the earth will shake and crumble and it will be a real disaster: day of crisis and I will play the game that way.

I also dig surrealism.  Magritte is my favorite of the lot.

Are we just naming painters, or any form of visual art?

My Wii has actually been sorely neglected.  I've gone for months without playing it.  Currently it's been, I think, three or four months (at least) since I've touched my Wii (it currently is at another residence, and hopefully being used).

I intend to remedy this by gaming until my eyes evaporate next year.

Or at least noticed I was gone.

"they let you pick your seats"

WHAT.  They don't let you pick your seats in normal theaters?  I've never had a seat assigned to me in a cinema.  That's nuts.

And yes, Gemma is the actress who played Strawberry Fields.  The action scene I found most ridiculous was the rope scene, and no, the CGI didn't help either.  Most of the scenes had some pretty ludicrous moments, though (and action scenes are seldom realistic, but I like them to at least be plausible otherwise I can't invest anything in them).

I saw this tonight, just a little while ago.  Lots of fun.  I was having an unexpectedly awesome day and this was a nice way to cap it off.  I recommend it to anyone.

Olga Kurylenko is very attractive and I thought she played her part surprisingly well, especially in the fire (the burn scar, by the way, was incredibly sexy; don't ask me why I like scars so much, I don't know why).  I especially liked the other girl, Gemma.  Not sure why, just did.  Maybe something to do with her wearing that coat when she first appears and what the hell is she wearing underneath it?  Anything?  I hope not.  But yeah, she was cute and had a bit more personality to her than Kurylenko (probably a result of the characters they were playing).
Eva Green in The Dreamers, on the other hand. . . that's another story entirely.

I thought it rode well off of Casino Royale, in a way that didn't seem like piggybacking but added something to the characters and the narrative.
Some of the action scenes were a bit ridiculous and some of the editing was choppy, but that's forgivable.  I enjoyed myself a lot and that's what counts.

I once tore off the husk of a pineapple with my bare teeth and proceeded to eat the entire fruit without utensils or anything.

Actually, I've done that twice.

PS I love sandwiches. They are my favorite thing.
