I don't know why this game is called Ys, it should be called RAMMING SPEED: The Game.

Without spoiling anything, I'll just say this:  The Mass Effect series has been in in my short list of favorite games ever made since the first one, and while I love 99.9% of ME3, the best analogy I can come up with for the ending is kind of like watching the original star wars trilogy, but at the end of Return of the Jedi, instead of Vader's sacrifice and redemption, the death star explodes and kills everybody.  Rebels, Imperials, Ewoks, and all.  Except then han, leia and R2 walk out of an escape pod on a random planet because Q teleported them their apparently.

It's going to be close because there is no clear favorite.

SUCCESS!

I blame you if this ends up being Ninja Spirit 2.0

It's Zelda's 25th anniversary, and I'd love a 3 hour retroactive on Majora's Mask or Wind Waker (aka the best Zelda games), but for the sake of variety, Starfox Adventures would be...Interesting.

Personally I was late to the party with Perfect Dark.  I first played it at a friends house and he tried to show me the single player game.  I will never forget that my original reaction was resounding befuddlement at what was happening.  The N64 was infamous for having blurry graphics, but Perfect Dark seemed like it's anti-aliasing was far more egregious then anything else.  Many months later my older brother rented it as he had heard the multi-player was better then Goldeneyes multiplayer was.  Sure enough it was and I still pull out the N64 every couple of years to play against the bots with friends.  The only thing that would make the multiplayer perfect would have been the inclusion of Goldeneye's moon raker laser.

To this day I have never played more then ten minutes of the single player campaign, it remains the only game in my collection I own solely for the multiplayer.  **** Halo, give me the laptop gun and far sight any day over the Nerf toys Halo uses.  I never played the remake as I didn't buy a 360 until Crackdown 1 came out and by then PDZ wasnt even a common joke anymore.

Who do I need to beg to get a retroactive on Wind Waker, Majora, or Links Awakening?

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Announces Wii Successor, Launching in 2012
« on: April 25, 2011, 12:58:17 PM »
I'll bet money that the the new Nintendo handheld will launch November 19th 2012.  My belief in that is based on the fact that the Gamecube launched on November 18th and the Wii launched November 19th.  They seem to have started a precedent for console launches in that time.  Personally (and I'm positive this will not happen) I'd love to see the console launch with Pikmin 3, a slew of third party games, and a special Zelda pack containing a directors cut version of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.

Let's just say that I would not give Fragile Dreams a 7.5. We used to do multiple reviews for some games, at which time it was more widely understood that reviews on the site are the individual opinions of each reviewer.

I still wish you guys did multiple reviews, I always enjoy hearing multiple takes on a game/movie/album/book from multiple people, it provides a better perspective in my opinion.  Honestly I'm kinda surprised this thread didn't get buried.  Not bad for a silly idea I had at 2:00 am.

Just a quick note about Epic Mickey: when you guys reference how old style animation has brighter colors for things characters interact with Johnny mentions it as keyframing.  The actual reason for the chromatic difference is actually Cells and Backgrounds.  Objects that characters do not move were watercolor or acrylic painted backgrounds whereas objects characters would move were animated and painted on transparent cells like the characters.  Keyframes in animation are the main drawings of an action that animators then connect with inbetween drawings.  Just thought I'd clear that up a little.

Otherwise great show as usual guys (and gal)

Good show guys, just two things I gotta say though.  First off I really wish you guys wouldn't eat on mic, I know it's a nitpicky thing and I'm sorry but it's gross as hell to hear someone try to talk with a mouth full.  Second (for James specifically) Dragon Age is a PC game, the console versions are sloppy ports. On the PC the AI is much better to say nothing of the controls.  However if the console versions are your only option I recommend you spend a lot of time setting up your combat tactics as that will fix most of your problems.  Still though the game was meant to be played on a PC where you can pause the action and manually cue up attacks and spells.

Keep up the great work guys!

I wonder if that was always planned.  In a 1992 interview, the development team was asked to state a secret of Samus that only he/she knew.  Sakamoto said, "I know where Samus's beauty mark is."

With the Japanese, you never know. Plus she didn't have it in Brawl (I just checked), but maybe Brawl is set after Super Metroid and we will get to see when/how she gets it removed.

She draws it on with a sharpie [almost] every morning :)

It's definitely surprising to hear they didn't chaperon the demo.  I wonder why they decided not to release a new trailer for the game though.  Seems strange to me for them to set up such a long demo and not send out a new teaser trailer to go with it.  The screen shots are better then nothing though.  Speaking of them, I heard that the screens they released to the press were taken at a higher res then the actual game.  I understand why, it's easier to take a still from the PC based development program then it is to capture it from a TV screen.  Whats the difference between the screen shots and the actual game in terms of resolutions and smoothing?  Is there a significant degradation in quality or has Team Ninja been able to make this game look smoother then Mario Galaxy?

Maybe, unless they had an Nintendo employee hovering behind them the whole time.  I highly doubt in the age of the iPhone Nintendo didn't expect people to try and sneak video.  Was there a bodyguard or were players left alone?

I wish they'd had the decency to leak gameplay footage :P:

It's probably hard to stealthily record gameplay footage when your trying to play the game =P

Some of the VO isn't that great, but I can point to much worse in many games (Resident Evil 1).  I wish Jennifer Hale was voicing Samus but the lady they have now isn't too bad.  I think the detachment in her voice is actually very fitting for the character and if in the final game she becomes more human and less detached from her emotions it will make for a very interesting character arc.  Only time will tell how this unfolds.
