Not looking to face Deviljho or all those 2 Monsters quests.
Why not? None of those are as tough as Altareon.

I fought Rathean (sp?) the other night with three random guys, and we took him down super easy. Barroth and Royal Lundroth still give me problems more than it did.

Still adjusting to being a lancer. This staying defensive stuff is difficult. :P

I'm online now if anyone cares to join. I'll be in the usual room, but I might be invisible, so you may not be able to warp/send message.

Still adjusting to being a lancer. This staying defensive stuff is difficult. :P:

I tried lancing but I just can't get the hang of it.  I think I'm doomed to be a Sword and Shield guy since that's the only thing I can get the hang of which means I'm doomed to do crap damage until I can get a good elemental weapon.  Toying around with the hammer offline but I get hit way too much.

Understandable; aside from the bowgun I think the Lance is the most-different (...) of the weapons.  I will say this though: you can either play it defensively like you're "supposed to" or you can get the Evasion abilities and play it much more aggressively, with very little blocking involved.  I much prefer the latter, but I'm in the minority.

Yeah with the lance it pays to know what the monster is going to do so you can anticipate it and be ready to sidestep, Block, or use the counterattack. Also it helps to know the safe areas around a monster so you can quickly attack after the monster has done its attack.

I try to be evasive and defensive based on the situation.

You don't need to be so defensive with a lance if you learn the timing of the instant block (R + A). Then you can keep attacking until you see the monster attack, then quickly block, and resume. You can stay a lot closer to a monster than you can with most other weapons so you can cause a lot of damage with it.

That's pretty much how the hammer goes since it has no defensive   capabilities short of stunning the monster before it attacks if you're   lucky(or boosted your ability to stun). That means us hammer users have   to spend a lot of time at the head where it's the most dangerous. You have   to rely on knowing when to stop attacking & move out of its way.

Mission...complete?

It looks like my system has decided to not read discs anymore, so I won't be on tonight. And probably not for a while either.

Anyone want to play Dr. Mario Online RX? I think that may be the only download game I have with online play...
