Yeah, when someone's come in I don't know, I make the password "NWR"

I may play tonight, may not.  Depends on some work I've got to do.

I'm online, but our usual room is full (Wisdom3, gate 27, city 5). So I'm in City 6, with Stratos.

Maybe another night.

GP showed up though and that was cool. Helped her clear a number of the early missions.

Armak, Sundulos and myself are in city 7 I think if there is anyone else looking to join us.

That hunt with the Rathalos was wild.  There's nothing like walking into an area and seeing a deadly ball of flame in mid-flight that happens to be coming straight for you.

That was fun, but Jhen Morhan (sic) needs to die much sooner.  Half an hour of spamming cannonballs gets dull after the first time.

The Jhen Morhan battle is refreshing because of its change of pace... but it takes way too long! I have yet to play it where it wasn't completed during the final minute. I'd suggest to not waste your time playing the event quest version, because you get no special reward. That's the 3-star urgent quest, so wait to beat it when it really counts for something.

Unfortunately, Jhen Morhan is not the most annoying monster you'll find in the game...

The event quest is actually shorter, and it ends sooner.  The rewards are the same, so it's an easier way to get Jhen Morhan stuff.

He can give Elder Dragon Blood, useful for a few late game items.  It's a very rare drop, though, and since things with a 14% drop rate can take hours of grinding, I'd say don't go for it.

Wear armor/decorations that boosts your luck? May want to grab a snack & activate Felyne Carver before that quest too. More carving chances might help you get that stuff.

I agree completely.  The first time I fought him I was having a blast, because the fight was so different and condensed.  But 10 minutes into the second fight it just got repetetive, and that feeling intensified during the third fight.  It doesn't help that the best way to kill him is apparently to stick with the ship's weapons whenever possible: hopping on his back and poking him with a stick certainly didn't feel like it was doing much, and the times we tried that were the times we failed the mission. :(

You've got to aim at the spots where he's got cuts in his back.  There's four, and attacking them will do a little more damage than just firing stuff, I believe.

Two questions: how do you hop on his back? And how do you aim with the weapons? Every time I load a cannon it just fires straight into the monster.

I forget how to aim those weapons but sometimes he gets close enough where a red marker will appear. Can just run & you'll jump off the ledge & onto his back. Tricky thing is sometimes the marker appears when he's not actually in range & you'll just jump into the sand.

You can't aim the cannons, they are stationary. You'll just have to wait until it is lined up.

For the ballista, first you must gather the ballista ammo. To use it, highlight the ammo in your item selection, step up to the ballista, and press the item button. Use the left analogue stick to aim the ballista, and the "confirm" button to fire.

Didn't realize how much a pain it is when you complete an Urgent quest that it doesn't count unless you foot the bill. Knew the events were like that but you still got the loot & reward so I didn't mind as much.
