The Broncos were doing terrible before he took over as QB, and was the leading cause to their late-game rallies. He wasn't the best QB last season, but the Broncos would have done worse without him.

Not having our draft picks sucks DICK.

Not having our head coach sucks DONKEY DICK (especially one as sharp as Payton). But at least Brees wasn't standing on the sidelines waiting for orders. He actively shapes the play before, during and after the games.

Let's see if he steps up into a more prominent role smoothly.

It's going to be a rough road ahead. But luckily, any wins we manage to get will be through a handi-cap, and thus garner more respect.

The Broncos had exactly one win against a quality team last season, and it came with Kyle Orton at QB: Week 2 against the Bengals. The other three games under Orton were three point losses to fairly decent teams and the lone blowout to the insanely-hot-at-the-time Packers. They were far from terrible. All the wins with Tebow at the helm were against bad teams, and the odds are good that they'd have won those with or without him. His success was a product of the schedule.

Tim Tebow is not even remotely capable of playing QB in an NFL offense, and barring a miraculous improvement in passing accuracy he never will be.

The Saints could get more punishments, the league is talking with the Players Union about punishments for the players too. A good article I read pointed out that the punishment is so severe because the Saints were stupid enough to document the program (I don't doubt other teams have or had similar verbal bounty programs).

We're just over an hour away from the start of the draft. Who is everyone hoping their team gets?

I'd be happy with either Richardson or Claiborne going to the Browns.

****, ****, goddamned motherfucking Browns. Brandon fucking Weeden? They needed help at receiver and offensive line, and they ignored great options at those positions to take fucking 30 year old quarterback.

He'll be ready to go on Day One Thousand!

Anyhow, I didn't really see much stick out from that draft, aside from Seattle way overreaching with its first pick. Now that it's over, I've heard a bunch of talking heads claim that, Luck, RGIII, and Robinson aside, this was apparently a weak draft. *shrug*

Saints player suspensions have been handed out. Not as bad as it could've been, but losing Vilma for a year is gonna hurt a bit. May end his career.

So we having another thread created for 2012? Did I just miss it? Or is insanolord too pessimistic about his Browns, and Neal so let down by the Packers? :P

Scuttlebutt has it that the arrows are pointing up for the franchise under the new ownership, but everyone seems to doubt that there'll be much progress made in the W/L column this year. Playing in what's probably the toughest AFC division doesn't help much on that account.

Personally, I'll measure their improvement by how much of their games I can stomach before completely blacking that screen out. Over/under is now at five, up from last year's three!

The Packers won the Super Bowl two years ago. They went 15-1 last year. I can't complain too much. Being a Yankee fan hasn't made me that desensitized to consistent winning.

The Browns had a top 10 defense last year; they would have won twice as many games if anybody besides Phil Dawson had been able to score points for them. With Richardson and Weeden coming in, as well as a couple intriguing rookie receivers in Josh Gordon and Travis Benjamin, the offense should be better this year. Unfortunately, significant parts of our defense will be out for 3-6 games at the start of the season, with four starters being out due to injuries and suspensions to start the year.

Let's just roll a new thread.

Are we doing the pool this year?  If it wasn't for that horrible first week I may have made something of myself.

I hope so. It was fun having my failures thrown in my face on a weekly basis. If no one else is interested, I'd be willing to set it up. But time's running out.

Same one as last year, so if you signed up then, you should still be in it.

I did change it to pick for/against the spread this year instead of straight up, so adjust your talents accordingly.

I've got all the dust settled and it seems if you are an old timer you can just sort of cancel on the password and it seems to work.

So we should be able to start picks on the 29th because the start of the season is the 5th correct?  This year I'm going to do some more research and start strong.
