For those wondering...

http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20051005/ndc06.htm

That is where the idea that the touch screen will be used for dribbling comes from.

Other screens seem to point otherwise though, so I wonder if that particular screen is just from some mini game or something.

Anyway, I seriously like the idea of forcing people to dribble (as I've already said).

I don't think it should require any precision...  It should be one hundred percent rhythm based... you get some serious basketball realism then..

For example.  In a real game of basketball, if you are dribbling quickly and low to the ground, the ball is harder to steal.  Most steals happen when someone is relaxing and dribbling high and slow.  You could translate this to the game.  If you tap the screen quickly, it will be harder for opponent's to steal the ball, but you may grow physically tired, so you have to decide when the best time to tap the screen quickly would be.  I really like the idea, at least as it is in my head, and I hope its included.  It has all the makings of a new basketball game standard (it could be done with just a button) and I have a feeling if Nintendo ever wanted to revive the Courtside franchise, it could be a major selling point (which the rev could take even farther with motion!).

It might be a tutorial.

"Anyway it's still rather ironic that the DS is designed to simplify gaming and here is an example of the DS features potentially making a game more complex. It's still the opposite of what Nintendo planned for the thing even if it's all Square Enix's idea."

The DS exists to provide options.  Simplicity is an option, complexity is an option.  You can go either way, or even both in some cases.  Nintendo is simply pushing simplicity because simpler games are more likely to attract non-gamers and expand their audience.  They're still making complex games, even games more complex than before, but they're not pushing them because the people that are buying them already know about them.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think i've see anyone that will not ever question Nintendo. What I have seen, though, is people that will defend something that the "consensus" rejects. i.e. cartridges for N64, not going "Online", WiFi only, Revolution controller, etc. , whatever... Is defending something so "obviously" wrong, as judged by the consensus, fanboyism?

What i've also seen are people that criticize Nintendo no matter what, even in the face of many many other good things. Almost as if Nintendo should revolve around them. The may have arguments you could agree with, even actively enjoy Nintendo games/systems, but you'd figure there would be at least something, or one post, where they could entirely praise Nintendo without damning them for something else in the same/next sentance.

You can't blame people like that though *cough*Ian*cough* because they're just incredibly pessimisstic.  It's not that they're actually stupid or trying to be a jerk or anything...that's just their perception of the situation...and probably most situations, which is kind of sad now that I think about it.  Let's all give Ian a hug.

I'd give him a hug but I'm afraid he'd sue for harassment.

From what I can tell, dribbling looks to be an option. We need more details on this game... this could be an amazing series if pulled off right.

Also, what is this?

The only thing missing from that list is Golden Sun 3.
I really want to see what that game would look like...

Also, where are all the 3d games for DS??  I only see a couple of games in 3d here???

Golden Sun 3 is going to be on the Revolution, I guarentee it.  Here's what we've got:
1) Camelot is working on a Revolution RPG.
2) Camelot mentioned that Goldun Sun is an entire RPG world, and what we've seen is just the begining of the story.
3) They mentioned in an interview a long while ago that they wished to incorporate more creative out-of-battle psyenergy abilities, which the Revolution would be perfect for.

And thus screw all ties with Square Enix forever.  For God's sake, Ian, the dev we've been trying to take back for ten years is giving us full 3D Final Fantasy 3, a long-awaited sequel to Mana, (not to mention the blol, Tingle RPG), I'm thinking Nintendo's pretty gosh darn happy with themselves, if Square Enix wants you to frucking dribble a ball Nintendo's going to let them.  But, of course, this is Ian's world, I shouldn't meddle with authority like that.

Sweet merciful crap. So many games.

I kind of suspected FFIII would be in 3d, since it's been in development for so long. Having it in 3D now makes it a major DS exclusive. If it were just in 2d with roughly Snes quality visuals, the casual gamers probably wouldn't care much. Sure, it would have sold well, but it wouldn't be a system seller. Now that it's in 3d the casual gamers will more likely associate it with the console FF's, and will want to buy a DS for this.

Tingle RPG? Nintendo must be reading my mind.

Tales DS. That's all I ever really wanted from Namco on the DS. Thank you. I think it should be called "Tales of Dual Screenia".

But, yeah. Best system ever.

The mainstream will get confused by the FF3/FF6 naming desaster in the US. Well, if they played FF6, that is. Some will just claim "OMG, 3 si mcuh elss then 12!!!"

Yeah I think they should rename it to something like Final Fantasy DS.
