The Wafather: endgame thread
« on: October 09, 2016, 02:07:29 AM »
Well its's been a fantastic game (i think). Waluigi died the first day in true Waluigi fashion and then closely followed by his lover. Then it was just a matter of time to hunt down the mafia players. The two detectives Khush and Tofu did an excellent job. in other words....
Townies WIN!
But wait theirs more! We still have to decide a winner for the prize sooooo wer're doing a mini safe words game in here! whoop! the players particapating in this are:
Tofu
Isanolord
MopStogi
silenced
Nickmitch
Dasmos
all the townies!
Words will be decided by me, order of choosing will be in this order there will be 9 words one will be the bomb the list was devised through skill level in the game, if you are at the bottom, well just hope someone blows up before it comes to that!Happy hunting! Also Khush you have come dead last in the comp for best avatar, but the winner is...duhdudhudhudhuhStratos!for an excellent rendition of what Khush actually looks like! Pm what you want my new title to be to either Khush or Isanolord!

Thanks for hosting, Lucario, and thank you for offering a prize. However, I don't require a prize. Winning a mafia game as a townie is prize enough for me as it further helps my townie cred that I can survive a game to the end without being mafia and gives me ammunition of that fact for future games.

All I want to do now is rest easy and discuss what happened this game with the other players while I also try to figure out how I can possibly follow this up since I have to host the next game. As such, feel free to blow me up and take me out of the running.

I was Koopa Troopa. Lucario revealed that in the Day 3 story and I messaged him to edit the story but wasn't sure who might have seen it. Pokepal148 had just been eliminated and saw that and made a couple posts asking Lucario if he just gave away my role but Lucario quickly deleted those too.

So, basically, I was just the back-up investigator in case Lakitu aka TofuFury was eliminated which means I did no actual investigating. Not that I needed to. TofuFury kicked butt with his investigations. Basically, I was just a verified townie since at least I had a role. This was a most unexpected game. With two killers and a mafia and a vote, the fact that only two townies died while both killers and a mafia got eliminated in that time span is incredible. Part of that was chance and luck for sure.

Apdude's vote for TOPHATANT123 proved to be a great bit of fortune. Not sure if Insanolord used his ability that day or not since Mop it up had voted for Stratos making it a 1 vs 1 tie. In either case, either a mafia member or a killer was going to be eliminated in that scenario but removing a killer on the first day and preventing a hit was big. And yet, the mafia took out the doctor on that day 1 which I thought would be a huge blow to the townies and I felt for sure would mean I'd be getting a hit my way.

Earlier in the week, I had been looking up some Waluigi images to try and find a fun avatar for the game. It brought up a lot of funny or weird images so I wanted to post them in the game to celebrate the great Waluigi before I was eliminated. With the doctor now gone, I decided to up my picture game since I didn't expect to be around much longer. That started my running joke of trying to find a winning avatar each day for the avatar contest. I had originally planned to switch my avatar each day before from my image search but that gave me a motivation to do so with the game. The first day I was also holding back a bit and waiting for another person to at least post after I made a post so as not to dominate the thread. With the doctor gone, I figured screw waiting and just started image dumping. It seemed to be popular enough or at least tolerated enough for players not to vote for me so I felt more at ease doing so as the game went on and not worrying about dominating the game with my posts.

What I found weird this game is how players didn't want to pile on or bandwagon another player. So, Day 2 had a bunch of players with 1 vote. As soon as pokepal148 gave a player a second vote, he was pounced on by Stogi and that started a bit of action although even then, it was limited as though everyone was afraid that making a second vote on a player would make them suspicious. Yet, when the two majority votes were pokepal148 and stevey, I found it rather funny as I consider them both threats to me since they seem to take delight in targeting me a lot. Insanolord also likes jumping on a Khushrenada bandwagon so with the tie situation unclear, I threw him a vote in case all three might have gotten eliminated. My only regret this game is not voting for pokepal148 that day and bandwagoning him out. With stevey being downright friendly to me by not voting for me, I really was wondering if I should return the favor and vote pokepal but pokepal was also leaving me alone. I decided to leave them alone since they were leaving me alone and get some revenge on Insanolord who voted me out last game and because I missed my chance to get revenge on TOPHATANT123 in voting him out on Day 1. Once again, though, luck was on my side as Insanolord must have correctly chosen pokepal148 to be the one voted out which was a good thing since that darned cat lover was going to try and make a hit on me that night. That move gave Insanolord his victory this game.

Why the mafia didn't make a hit on Day 2 is something ShyGuy will have to explain though I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a case of Lucario's erratic deadline schedule and no night action deadline time being given. To find out on Day 3 that both killers were dead and there was just a mafia left suddenly made this game start seeming winnable provided I could avoid one or two more hits or prevent a hit by vote out. My actual work was getting busier as the week went on so I began to have less time to play and post pictures like I wanted but I did what I could.

At this point, I think my play history became pretty clear. Tried to get revenge on Insanolord again that day, found out apdude was mafia, let apdude get eliminated, apdude's voting history then was used to target ShyGuy who was the godfather which was one of the breaks I was hoping for since it prevented a hit and then TofuFury found the last mafia member in Stratos ending the game. To me, the stars and MVPs of this game are apdude and Tofofury with a couple assists by Insanolord. Apdude made the terrific day 1 vote on a killer and his Day 3 voting record helped the townies out (which is probably not what he was trying to do.) TofoFury rocked his role and Insanolord made the correct call on his tiebreakers.

As a bonus, I got to play a less serious game and had some of the most fun I've had in a quite some time playing this game. There are some themes that I can't do much with but this was one up my alley and I did a lot with it. It was getting to the point that if this had been a regular day, I'd have been able to scrounge up enough female Waluigi pictures to do one more avatar search but after that, I think I'd have been out of material for this game. I was getting worried once I started lasting this long since I hadn't planned for it.

So, Silenced, after our big discussion in the sign-up thread, did you have fun this game? Did you feel better about the way you played? I know you didn't get a chance to be in much of the action since you didn't have a role so it was more about deciding if you wanted to trust the instructions and information you'd get but curious to see what your thoughts were. (Oh, and if the votes for my avatar didn't count, then I'd have given them to you to win for best avatar as I really liked what you came up with there in the end.)

Also, my original plan on day 2 was to kill Stogi but he started cracking down on me and I figured if I survived I'd look suspicious if Stogi was killed off.

I literally killed Dasmos on day 1 just for the hell of it. I was largely responsible for the voting bandwagon to kill him off on Animal Kingdom and I figured it would be funny to kill him off again on day 1.

But Lucario said it was the Mafia that hit Dasmos. Another hosting error?

Also, to Lucario, I don't think a Safe Words game is the best way to hand out the prize. You already have to do the next Safe Words game, you probably don't want to be doing two at a time and your time zone is quite out of sync with the majority of users that this could take awhile. With 7 people left, you might not have this finished until 2 weeks from now. My advice would be this:

First, find out which players want to play for the prize. So, since this is going to the winning side which is the townies, then have a deadline, say 2 - 3 days from now or whatever's convenient for you, for those that want to play for the prize to register and sign-up to do so. That should be more than enough time for those interested to be able to register. Then take the names of the people who registered and mix them up in a hat to arrange a choosing order or some other way that you think is fair for a selection process. You'll post the list of the selection order so that everyone can see it and now when they would choose for the contest. Then you pick a number between 1 - 500 and have the players give their selection according to the order of the selection list posted. Once everyone has made their guess, you'd reveal the number and the player closest to the number would win. If there is a tie, than those 2 players would face off in a head to head match-up in another number selection. Whether you want it to just be 1 - 10 or 1 - 500 again or something else is up to you. In the end, you'll have a winner in a pretty fair contest and it won't take you as long as this endgame Safe Words idea you are trying to do.

That's my idea to help you out.

It's incredible. We had several roles that could make a hit on anyone and we (not me) whittled through them perfectly.

I feel good about my vote for Pokepal, continuing the trend of hitting a role on my first try. The rest of the votes were for Khush mainly because of bitterness, for absolutely no reason (even when I gave him one), and self-preservation. I knew if I voted for him and help the mafia out, the wouldn't make a hit on me. It was clear he was townie by the third day.

I have to give it up the Tofu. I'm not sure how you knew who to investigate, but you did it impeccably. You're the man of the match IMO.

As for the theme, I thought it was hilarious. I didn't know you could make an entire game centered around one character, but you did Lucario. As someone that didn't have a role, I can't really comment on the rules. From the outset, it seemed skew against the townies, yet we won handily so maybe not. Anyway, thanks for hosting. I had fun!

Yeah, the thing about a game like this is it can sometimes feel like it favoured one group or another, but that's just a result of the way things play out and it can really go either way. The killers getting eliminated so early is what gave the investigators so much time to find the Mafia, if that didn't happen then the body count would have been much higher and they would have been at much higher risk. Therefore, I don't think the setup was inherently unbalanced, a few roles could probably use some tweaking but I don't think any one group was super powerful. So overall, I would say nice job Lucario.

Congrats to the townies!

Before I begin my thoughts on the game, thanks for everyone that has given me props. After walking away from the win in Animal Kingdom, and having my mafia team get picked off at the end of Sonic mafia, I feel much better about my mafia game. I came back to mafia to eventually win one of these games, so I'll always remember this one.

First of all, Lucario, I know some things probably didn't go as planned as you hoped for the game, but I have to give props to anyone who runs these games. The Waluigi theme made for some very entertaining posts from everyone, and it brought me many hours of entertainment. Keep hosting, learn what you can from this game, and make the next one even better.

I know I was extremely lucky with my investigations this game. Literally every pick I made was a role. Had I not chosen Stratos for Day 4, I was going to pick Insanolord. Sometimes the game gives you a break, and that's what happened to me.

I could not have done as well as I did without my two partners, Khushrenada and Mop It Up. Khush is a wealth of information, and I appreciated gleaning what I could from him. His insight helped me focus my investigation, and that's how we were so successful. He also played the main force of the social game. It's not easy for me to reach out to people, and Khush stepped up and not only acted as my shield, but also helped us swing votes to go the ways we needed. Likewise, Mop had some great insight and always backed us up.

I also have to give props to the townies for eliminating the killers on the first two days. I had no hand in them, and both killers could've changed how this game played out. We couldn't have done it without your help. In addition, thanks to Silenced for believing my PM and trusting me on the final round. While it seemed certain we were going to win, having his vote helped solidify the end of the game.

Finally, I have to hand it to the Mafia as well. None of you were eliminated from obvious mistakes. Like for Stratos, I only checked on him because I wanted to add him into the alliance. Just because the game ended so soon doesn't mean you played poorly.

Great game everyone!

Just got back so here is my thoughts on the game.  Yes I was going to be absent so I asked to be townie because of this but we didn't get that so I tried to mix it up a bit.  Knowing that the rest of the mafia should vote me out day 3 or so.  I guess I should not have changed my vote day 3 so that was my bad.  Some of our hits were just ignored but voting out the killers early on was pretty crazy, with this many roles figured it would have been a blood bath but somehow it didn't.  Enjoyed the posts, and congrats to stratos for using the avatar I made... Waaa!  All in all pretty fun but hope to actually be townie next game as I'm mafia about 70% of the time on here for some reason.  Guess the randomizer likes me!
