Nintendo Downloads - November 3, 2011

eShop and WiiWare receive new titles, including Balloon Kid for the 3DS Virtual Console, but the Wii Virtual Console is left behind again.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/28323

The eShop gained four new titles, while only one new game is headed to WiiWare with this week's Nintendo downloads.

Unlike the Wii Virtual Console, which received no update this week, the 3DS Virtual Console is getting Balloon Kid. Imagine Balloon Fight as a platformer as you float through eight different stages while avoiding enemies in this classic Game Boy title for only $2.99.

Three new DSiWare titles are available on both the Nintendo DSi Shop and 3DS eShop. In House M.D. - Episode 4: Crashed, you once again join Dr. House as he races against the clock to solve yet another mystery for $7.99. Read our interview for more details. 1950s Lawn Mower Kids has players mowing lawns while avoiding the various obstacles for $4.99. Finally, Cut the Rope has players carefully slicing ropes to drop candy into the mouth of a cute monster. It's available now for $4.99.

This week, WiiWare is receiving Gnomz, an arcade fighter from QubicGames. Fight against friends or the computer in the game's 25 different arenas. Gnomz is available on the Nintendo WiiWare service for 1,000 Wii Points ($10). Read our interview for more details.

The orchestrated main theme of The Legend of Zelda is heading to the Nintendo Video service this week. This song is just one example of a track that will be included on the bonus CD packaged with the initial production of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

There's nothing here that interests me. When are they gonna put up things from the SNES? (And you can't say the 3DS doesn't have the ability to handle it because if the Game Boy Advanced could than the 3DS can). I only ask because I'd love for Super Mario World to be put on there. (That was and is one of my all time favorites. I could sit there and play it for hours. I have it on the Wii, but I'd love to have it on the 3DS as well.)

About your SNES games on the 3DS point. Of course the 3DS can handle it. That's not the issue. I mean, the DS could handle it, and just like you stated earlier, the GBA could as well. So why would its newer hand-held counterparts have a problem?

Here's the thing about having SNES games on the system right now. Despite the ambassador NES games, this is still a "hand-held". Which is more likely to get "hand-held" VC games, rather than console VC games like on the Wii.

And yes, I know the Wii VC is experiencing a long drought, but it's still there, and the games are still available to purchase. That being said, I don't think we should expect to see SNES games become downloads anytime soon. GBA ports, such as Mario Bros. 3, (which if you're a 3DS Ambassador, you are getting) could be the closest thing we see to SNES games on the 3DS.

If anyone is curious about Balloon Kid, imagine Balloon Fight as a platformer and then ask yourself if that would a good thing.

Ahaha! My thoughts exactly. Looking at a youtube video, I can see my thumbs getting worn out in about 10 mins.

It's interesting to see Balloon Kid come out. The Game Boy Color version (released ONLY in Japan back in 2000) came out in Japan a few weeks ago. I balked at picking it up for 600 yen, though.

The idea of Balloon Kid is so far better than the actual game. Still early, though.
