TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Gives First Details Of Nintendo Switch (UPDATING)
« on: October 20, 2016, 11:22:58 AM »
@azeke- nah I'm pretty sure that square is a charging doc for the joy controllers, they need to be charged somehow and it's super smart of Nintendo to make that charging doc part of the "at home" controller unit. They've done their homework here, and understand how annoying it is to have a dead gaming device or an uncharged controller unit. Good on you Nintendo. That and many other parts of this systems portability and functionality have me very optimistic. And the name? It may not seem too amazing atm, but it's easy to say, explains the system pretty well, and actually makes sense!

I apologize for my horrible grammar and misuse of your in a few places. I just wanted to point out in my last message to you Dr. Metts, that my phone's autocorrect sucks and likes to make me sound 4. K, later Jonny! I wish you the best man.

Hey Jonny, I just want to say thank you and just talk about the first time I had a conversation with you. It was many summers ago, but I had just started attending community college and planning to attend a 4 year school.  At the time RFN was always with me. I was a very shy kid all through high school, and I didn't really have too many friends when I started college either. But listening to your podcast got me through my days. I would just walk around campus and listen. You're old e3 video diaries inspired me to write about Nintendo one summer, and I actually emailed you about it, and asked for your advice on writing. First of all the fact that you even replied meant the world to me.  If you ask my girlfriend who my favorite podcast host is, she answer unequivocally Jonathan Metts! But anyways, you told me the key was to just play games, and as many as I could to get an understanding of them, and to just keep writing. Thanks for the prescription Dr. Metts. You've been a huge part of my life, and I just hope to be a part of Nintendo world report someday so I too can discuss my love and sometimes confusion.. For this company we call Nintendo.

TalkBack / Re: Ryu, Roy Revealed as Smash Bros. Leaks Emerge
« on: June 13, 2015, 09:36:39 AM »
I remember RFN's theory of a decided list that was already in place,  and the characters with the most votes on that list would be chosen. I'll take that one step further, there was no list. Nintendo already knew who they were putting in next. Although I'm sure these characters got a ton of votes, especially Roy, It's hard for me to believe that Ryu was the second or first popular pick by fans.  I don't care much for street fighter, and the only other fire emblem character I wanted was chrom. That being said, I'd be curious to see the actual poll numbers. The reason I think Ryu was being made before polls were even open, is because Nintendo would have needed the rights before they even started creating that character, and with Capcom being stupid these days, I don't think that was easy to do, and it probably took time.

I just wanted to share comments about this game from someone who's fairly new to card games in general. This game so far has been a great way for me to learn how the Pokemon card game works (or at least how I think it works). I remember collecting these cards as a kid, but I never really understood what things like energy cards and trainer cards did. I would either toss those cards out, or just store them in the back of my "Poke-binder". Anyway, this game is taking me back to a period in my life where I really adored everything Pokemon. I think it's pretty amazing how an old game I've never even played before is making me feel this way.

As far as the game itself however. I like the fact that it looks like Pokemon Red and Blue, and I don't care what anyone says, the dialog in this game is genius! It's so bad it's good! I also enjoy the freedom of assembling my own deck. It's a learning process, but it's always great to receive new cards to add them my main deck. I don't know about you all, but I wouldn't be opposed to a new Pokemon Trading Card Game if it ever came out...

Would you guys pay for a new version of this game if it was released on the eshop for a decent price?

Lastly, in honor of Mr. Lindemann's return, and the new streak beginning...
[/size]I want James to read this out loud it this makes it on the show..

Link's kin perhaps? I don't know why, but the first thing that came to my mind was his daughter. That might be pushing it. I can see it being Zelda, but the character design looks perhaps like the child of the two if anything. God do I feel like I'm treading fan-fiction waters right now.. But what else could it possibly be!? This Zelda hype is already messing with my ability to function, let alone understand logic!

TalkBack / Re: Marth Returns in Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS
« on: November 08, 2013, 02:05:00 PM »
I'm kinda really confused by this choice... I was really banking on "Marth" from awakening to join the Smash Bros. family. In addition to Chrom... who I'm not counting out just yet.. because we still have that other character from the series to wait on. So Chrom being in the game COULD still happen. I'd be very surprised if it didn't actually, but we are dealing with Nintendo here... All this being said, those two characters were extremely interesting in the last game of the Fire Emblem series. (My first game of the series) It just makes sense to include the latest characters of a game to represent the franchise. They SHOULD be in these games. It's almost like they don't trust in their product enough or something, and I can't understand why. Awakening sold wonderfully, and is a system seller in my opinion, just as much as Pokemon or Mario.

What? I thought these games were supposed to be able to link up? So now the 3ds version has already taken the back seat, because we can't play with our Wii U friends. Come on Nintendo.. This isn't connectivity.. This is separating..

TalkBack / Re: Circle Pad Pro XL Photos
« on: April 23, 2013, 10:30:25 PM »
Hmm.. I didn't really like the original Frankenstick.. but then again, I didn't like the original 3DS all that much either. (I feel like the 3DS XL just worked better with my hands, and it felt like a more perfected product imo. Along with the 90% bigger screen that made my poor eye sight less of an issue.) But from the short time I spent with the attachment on the original, I have to say that it didn't wow me. It didn't add anything to my gaming experience. So unless I have a friend who owns this and lets me try it out, I think I'm going to have to pass on this one.

13
It looks like neither is shaped much like an X, but both seem to be living-breathing Ys... I see what you're doing Nintendo.. You want us to ask why? Why has it taken so long for a full-3D installment in the Pokemon series to come out? In all seriousness, I was actually waiting a really long time for this to actually happen. I needed something totally new to get me interested in this series again. My Pokemon-Education stops a little before Ruby. And I say a little before because I never actually finished the game..  I know.. shame on me and all that jazz. The game was solid in it's own right, but personally I just wanted something different. Black and White 2 almost made me jump.. almost.. Here's hoping this game brings the original magic back for me, and something new and innovative at the same time. In all honesty.. I just really want to catch a 3D Pikachu and poke it..

TalkBack / Re: Tetris for Game Boy Coming to 3DS Virtual Console in Europe
« on: December 21, 2011, 01:15:13 AM »
Dare I say it.... This might very well be the killer app for the Virtual Console man! The only thing I could see topping this would be the pokemon classics, but even then you would have a debate. All I know is this game sold boatloads way back when, and I assume it's gonna do just fine in the Eshop.

Good job Nintendo, good job indeed.

TalkBack / Re: GBA Ambassador Games Available in Australia and Japan
« on: December 15, 2011, 04:11:06 PM »
Yeah.. not feeling the whole "You don't deserve these games" talk. I believe that early adopters absolutely deserve these games. Yes it was their choice to buy the system at launch, but listen to what you're saying here, you are telling early adopters, (hard working people just like you and me, and die-hard Nintendo fans just like you and me) that the piece of hardware they bought just a a few months earlier, and before the price drop, that they don't deserve these games? A system that had no internet browser, no e-shop, and only a few notable titles to decide from? I'm sorry, but that is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. The people are not to blame for putting their faith and dollar into the company. If any faith is lost in a company from the consumers point of view, it is the companies obligation to set things straight. We have every right to these games, and I won't be told otherwise.

Now as to the whole whining and crying over NoA not announcing these games availability yet, that is indeed stupid I agree. NoA is going to release these games soon, getting them right now will not make a difference then getting them two days from now. NoA has actually made me happy with their latest announcements.

TalkBack / Re: Third Party Titles Now Including Club Nintendo Points
« on: November 29, 2011, 05:52:22 PM »
I never thought we would see the day. But you know what, this could potentially be very good publicity for Nintendo. This could be looked at as some form of respect from Nintendo to the 3rd party devs.  It's a "We respect your product as much as our own" kinda thing. I really wish this was had happened sooner.

Thank you Nintendo! Embrace the 3rd party, they WILL help you make nice with the "hardcore".

Soul Calibur 2 to this day, is my favorite fighting game (not counting smash bros). I really hope we get to see Link return to the world of Soul Calibur on the Wii U or 3DS. The series I'm told hit a little rough patch, but is now on pace to bring it all home again. We want LINK!

TalkBack / Re: Euro Downloads Round-Up - November 17, 2011
« on: November 17, 2011, 08:57:18 PM »
Not gonna lie, but I'm getting a little frustrated with Nintendo releasing only 1 (or sometimes none) VC game per week.. I know this is for Euro, but most of the time it translates to what we get over here in the states. I don't understand the point in only releasing 1 game per week. Maybe I'm being slightly cynical here, but I feel like Nintendo is purposely doing it sometimes, just to avoid putting the lesser titles up against some bigger ones in the portable library. Maybe they're worried the smaller games won't sell as well if they did? They might just be doing that, knowing that a lot of gamers will just impulse buy whatever game is available that week. (Almost did that with Golf... lol)
