Title: Stevey's vote
Post by: UncleBob on May 25, 2010, 01:26:24 AM
Please note, I won't *just* go by the results of this poll.  Just want to get the input.  Feel free to discuss the details here or send me a PM.  I'll announce my decision in tomorrow's thread.

I take it only players still alive can vote correct?

Forum mafia has a rich history and a devoted fanbase.  Since the results of this poll will not be the sole deciding factor in my decision, anyone - living players, dead players or spectators are free to vote and comment on the situation.

stevey removed it right before or right after he edited his latest post to say vote nickmitch.  It was clearly a removal of the "vote" part of his post, which was clearly meant to remove his vote.  Anyone can bold a name of a player, and it doesn't count as a vote.  It wasn't a vote.  Player's current votes were made in reaction to what stevey did, assuming it was not a vote.  I say keep the second one, the one for nickmitch a vote, and remove the one some are perceiving as a vote.

The bolded Khush has not VOTE besides it. It simply is not a vote, and if it was, stevey removed the VOTE and forgot to unbold Khush, in a rush to STOP the 3 way tie.

I think stevey tried to stop it, cleared the VOTE, forgot to take the bold out and voted for Nickmitch.

Jeez, beat me to it!

Unclebob I checked the rules and Roles thread and there is nothing on extra votes from players. When you make your decision tomorrow I think you should update that thread with what your choice was.

I'm gonna think about this double vote of steveys.

What are the rules for ties in this game anyway?

Come on, if it doesn't have VOTE its not a vote. Thats like, Mafia 101.

How can you remove "vote" and still have it be a vote?  He took it out.  It was there, then he edited, and then he took it out.  Plain and simple.  He didn't expect it to say, and as a veteran player, stevey knows well enough that for a vote to be a vote, it should have "vote" in front of the name.  It wasn't a mistake.

The rules for ties is that everyone who is tied dies.

What time exactly are you going to post the results tomorrow Unclebob?

Dang it, if my phone hadn't died there wouldn't even be a tie! What is everyone playing anyways. I wanted to vote stevey, everyone votes me instead, finally a choice is made on nickmitch and then everyone votes for stevey while I'm out of action and this us what I return to. And I'm accused of trying to distract people? Where did the stevey turn around come from? If there is a tiebreaker period, I would like to change my vote.

Khushrenada, Unclebob kept the voting thread open for like a extra hour from the time he closed it the other day. So basically everybody switched around their votes based on everybody elses votes.

Unclebob what happens in the event of a tie?
Edit: Nevermind in the Day 1 thread you said both die in the event of a tie.

Technically, everyone was tied for some time before the extension, too.

Who exactly was tied before the extension? I'm talking the normal time he would have closed it.

Yes, I can see UB kept it open a little longer than normal, that part was obvious. I say, schedule a tie-break period. If votes need to be corrected, they can be. If nothing changes in the tie-break period, then let the tied parties die. But schedule it so all players know when it is. It doesn't have to be long, like 15 minutes. See what the result is and post the next day soon thereafter.

Note - the extension wasn't done because of the voting process - the extension was given because I got to the computer to find several PMs waiting that I felt deserved responses before ending the day.

It was me, Khush, and Nick. Then I pesudo changed my vote to Nick, which caused Toruresu to change to me, which he latter change back to Nick and then rapidly Ninja changed it once again to khush and retied the game.

Well, I think the tiebreak idea is good and will remove this debate over stevey's vote but whatever. I have to call it quits for tonight.

I chose the second option. No VOTE on the first one invalidates it as a vote. If we count the first thing as a vote then we have to add a new rule that says that bold-ed words in general are forbidden since it implies a vote.

Quote from: Example
Toruresu! How could you do a thing like that?

Is this a vote?

Quote from: Example
Who else could Khushrenada be but mafia?

What about this?

Quote from: Example
Vote Toruresu! How could you   do a thing like that?

See how 'vote' radically changes the context? Sure, people made rapid and unthoughtful vote changes because of the bold-ed name, but that is each individual's mistake for jumping to conclusions.

Man, it sucks that I play the game mostly from 9-5 eastern... and everyone else plays the game mostly after 10pm. :(

QFT--I completely missed out on all the drama last night because I go to bed at a reasonable hour.

Forum mafia has a rich history and a devoted fanbase.  Since the results of this poll will not be the sole deciding factor in my decision, anyone - living players, dead players or spectators are free to vote and comment on the situation.

For what it's worth, two of the dead players were monsters so it's possible they could know the identities of both the mafia and the rangers, which would effect how they vote (assuming Khush and/or nickmitch have a role).  Then again, it's impossible to tell who votes in the poll, so it's a moot point.   :Q
