Title: Kirby Anniversary Collection Games Revealed
Post by: NdIGiTy on June 12, 2012, 09:46:57 PM

Did your favorite make the cut?

Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition includes six games that span a portion of the character's history, according to CoroCoro magazine.

The list out of the magazine notes the following as included on the compilation disc:

- Kirby’s Dream Land (Game Boy)

- Kirby’s Adventure (NES)

- Kirby’s Dream Land 2 (Game Boy)

- Kirby Super Star (SNES)

- Kirby’s Dream Land 3 (SNES)

- Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64)

The Japanese version of the collection comes out July 19, with a North American release (presumably with the same content) scheduled for September.

Of the six, I only own two of them. This collection seems to be a good buy to me. I wonder if it will be $19.99 or $29.99. It would be nice if it's $19.99.

I've played four of these and I'm not even a big Kirby fan. BO-RANG

Also, all these are already on Virtual Console except Dream Land 2, which is probably inevitable.

Really hope this turns out to be $19.99, as I'll be picking up a copy immediately upon release.

Pretty much what I was expecting. I already own most of these games, but maybe I'll pick it up for cheap later on, since I'd prefer to have a physical version of Kirby's Dreamland 3, and the SNES cartridge is pretty expensive.

I expected everything but the Game Boy games! I hope they are in colour... Still, there was only one Kirby game on the 'Cube, Airide, surely they could have squeezed that in?

Wait, wasn't a remake of Dream Land included in Super Star? If so, including Dream Land in the collection isn't really necessary (as my 3DS thinks unecessary isn't a word - is it or not? We've really fallen out over this one!)

Unnecessary has two "n"s.

The game lineup is pretty expected. I hope they're sneak some things on the disc, but I'm not too optimistic about that.

Wow.   I knew it couldn't be as bad as the Mario anniversary collection.  Didn't release the difference would be a smidgen.

Oh. I was sure I tried that :/. This is pretty bad for me, I'm usually a great speller, I hate myself right now :(

I think this looks like a nice collection of the core Kirby games, most of which I missed out on. I might want to get this.

We got Kirby's Adventure as a 3D classic, didn't we? And Super Star got re-released on DS.

I'd still buy it for $20 though. :^/

Looks good to me!!

What titles were some of the more jaded folks hoping to see?

Pretty much exactly what I expected to be on the disc... though I was hoping for Dream Course.  Actually, I'm a little surprised to see Kirby 64 on it.

I will take a physical copy over digital any day so this is nice.

I'm actually not a fan of Kirby generally, but I really enjoyed Dream Course and Epic Yarn. It's a shame they weren't a little more adventurous (see what I did there?). Had they included more of the weird and wonderful Kirby themed spin-offs I might have been interested, as those tend to be the best Kirby games for me.

I love kirby and all but the best part of kirby games is that they get the most experimentation out of all the Nintendo franchises. It would have been nice if they added some of the "wackier" games in the series in addition to these. Some of them wouldn't work well but there are a few that could transition into the package. (wouldn't work "tilt and tumble" and "canvas curse", would work well "dream course" and "air ride")

I don't have any of these. Well i guess I'll might pick this up if it cost around $30

Dream Course, Kirby 64 and the GBA games would've been nice, just to sweeten the deal.

NickMitch you do realise that Kirby 64 is there?

Right?

This looks more promising than the rom dump of Super Mario All stars .

*scrolls up*

I do now.

I guess I wasn't ever going to be impressed with a Kirby collection since I basically buy and rebuy every release. Though, I'll still buy it and replay everyone.

I will probably get this, but I won't spend more than $34.95 tops.

I have to see the rest of the packaging.  Though I was personal hoping for these plus some obscure games in the Kirby universe.

That's what emulators are for. Sorry if that's against the rules, but unless you're Unclebob, you're not going to be playing those obscure games.

They aren't obscure to those of us who grew up playing them in our childhood.

Why are you arguing with me? I wasn't the one who first used the word obscure. Cedric did. And considering he's 29...I guess even if you played with them as a child they're still obscure.

I'm really not much of a Kirby fan (I find the vast majority of his games utterly boring), but this is a good collection so long as Nintendo keeps the price reasonable.  I'm a bit disappointed that at least Canvas Curse isn't included from the DS library, considering IIRC that top screen was barely used at all and the Wiimote can emulate the stylus controls just fine.

I wasn't pissed. I sound intense because, well, I'm a very intense guy.

I'm a bit surprised. I was assuming this would be made up mostly, if not entirely, of Game Boy games-- I didn't think they'd bother including VC games already available on Wii.

This seems like kind of an odd move for them as Wii-owning Kirby fans who would be the most likely to buy this have likely downloaded a few of these already... And unlike with Super Mario All-Stars, these won't be special versions, they'll be the exact same games.

There’s also a brand "More Challenge Mode" which is based on the challenge stages from Kirby’s Return to Dreamland. Kirby 20th Anniversary Compilation will have over 10 stages including "Sword Challenge" and "Fighter Match" where you have to use specific copy abilities.

@Phil

Exactly.  There are very few and unique circumstances in which I would EVER prefer to have digital copies of things if I had the choice.

@nickmatch

Yea, the 64 title is the deal maker for me so I'm really glad to see that included

@tamazoid

Thanks for the assist re:Kirby 64.

@Luigi Dude

Neato!

According to GameLife, supposedly an art booklet, history booklet and a soundtrack CD will also be included.

Sounding pretty good to me! Of course, I was one of those weirdos who liked the Mario anniversary collection.

I liked the Mario CD, but it was WAY too short (10 of the 20 tracks were less than 7 seconds long and only 6 tracks were longer than 2 minutes).

A better name for this would be Kirby: The Dark Matter Saga.... That pretty much whats all on the disc.

Me too. On all counts.

I never had the SNES game. I'd never played Lost Levels before.  It was good stuff.

true but there was that version of all stars that had super mario world as well in the cart i mean as long as you are selling roms you might as well sell the better version(unless you are capcom then you are evil)

i estimated the cost of getting that digitally
35$ at least(excluding eshop tax)

the art book and such thrown in makes this an easy buy

Almost. Dark Matter isn't in Kirby Superstar or Kirby's Dream Land at all. Once I saw the name was Kirby's Dream Collection I figured we'd see all the Dream Land games. I am surprised that Kirby's Dream Course wasn't thrown in with Dream in the title. They could have added a puzzle game or 2 like Kirby Avalanche or Star Stacker. And I thought Kirby and the Amazing Mirror had a good shot of making the list.

Still, I'll be getting this for the artwork and cd and because I'm a Kirby nut and I actually have yet to play Kirby's Dream Land 2 which is really shameful since I always hear how it is one of the best of the Kirby games.
