That still doesn't mean much considering how terrible the Wii U sales are. Especially when Microsoft has spent a lot more money on the One then Nintendo did with the Wii U. They could sell over twice as many systems in America then the Wii U does worldwide, and yet Nintendo can still end up making more profit off the Wii U then Microsoft does off the One.

In this industry, selling more doesn't mean making more.

Yes, and not a single third party will care that Nintendo is profiting off of the hardware and that Microsoft is not (even though they definitely are if SONY is).

Why would the One crush the U? In the states yeah, the one will sell marginally better than the U on a monthly basis but the way things are looking, the other markets for Xbox may not be the windfall they were expecting. "Its hard out here for a pimp" and things like that.

According to vgcharts.com the WiiU has a 1.7million console lead and is already outselling Xboxone in both the US and Europe. Of course that's mostly MarioKart bump but the fact remains a lead is a lead until it's not. "And if you were a man you would've done it already"

Lack of games, all that negative pre-launch crap (DRM, anti-used game stance, etc.), expensive, little incentive for consumers w/ PS360 to upgrade yet.

E3 2013, Sony killed them by just being reasonable. Xbox failed on price and policy and has not been able to regain its footing. Couple that with the baren wasteland of games on the system and the 360 is half the price with 10x the games. Plus no Japan. Yeah pick one of those and it would be a problem but its all of those.

XBox One in particular is feeling hard the lack of Next Gen Exclusives since the PS4 one consistantly outperform it and the 360 is getting all the games if you don't care about performance.

Because by this time next year the Xbox 360 will probably be discontinued, and people will buy the Xbone to play the next Halo, Call of Duty, GTA, etc. I still stand by my original statement from a year or so ago that the PS4 will simply dominate this generation, but Xbone will pick up the pace soon enough, and sadly, the Wii U will go back to sub-GameCube level sales until the next big game comes out. Smash Bros. will probably be the next system seller, Zelda, unfortunately, not so much.

VGChartz is widely known to have "made up" numbers extrapolated from who knows what. They constantly change their numbers to be more inline with official numbers and this has been documented almost everywhere. The creation of the site has a history with NeoGAF and it's creator being exiled for repeatedly dropping fake ass sales numbers in their "internet is serious bizness" sales threads w/o being able to back it up.

Their site may have gotten more legitimate sources over the years, since they have grown in notoriety and even been cited as "source" by publishers that apparently liked the numbers they were sharing, but they were founded on bullshit and called on it ever since.

You can continue to use them as the source of info for discussion, but don't be surprised when other call you out on your source.

...annnd the Vita continues to outsell the Wii U in Japan. Pretty sad, and frankly somewhat shocking, to see SONY doing so badly in Japan right now - then again, console sales and killer app game sales tend to go hand in hand over there, up to a certain point in a system's lifespan.

The PlayStation Vita continues to be your system for not-MonHun MonHun games. Watch_Dogs sells 90k+ and that Kamen Rider beat'em up sells a bunch too. Taiko drumming on the 3DS takes 4th and is followed by the high school girls competing in the sport of Tank-kwan-do.

You won't find any legitimate sales sources outside of paying alot of $ or reading annual financial statements from the big 3. Japanese sales are released regularly and posted here. Some NPD data gets leaked but largely the data is paywalled. Europe has some countries that track but it's rough to get a picture of that region.

I like Vgchartz.com for what it is. They do do some of their own tracking, but their standard deviations are much higher than paid groups as they don't have the resources to track as well as an NPD. They release data fast and update to the most official #'s available. Their current #'s may not be the most accurate, but they do update historical #'s which increases their utilization in my mind. Current #'s and games that aren't big releases do tend to be off. But historical console sales and big game releases (in time) tend to be very accurate. You could spend some time verifying their historical #'s in accurate financial statements (the only true official reports) or you can take their historical #'s for what they are. Fanboys get all riled up when you use Vgchartz.com because they can only take being wrong once a year (when annual reports get released).

Yokai Watch 2 actually has just hit in Japan. I'm expecting a MH4-level opening week.
