Pure Entertainment Nintendo Intelligence System?

Why not just give the losers something to laugh at and call it the GayKiddie?

One of the things I've always liked about Nintendo is that they never let something fall into self-mockery.  Everyone laughed at the SNES's name, joking that the next one would be called "ULTRA NINTENDO" or something (they still bought the SNES and thought it was cool, but they did think it was funny).  Nintendo, luckily, has some smart PR people and they decided to not name it the ultra 64.  Of course, at the time the N64 came out, bits were on their way out -- Sony never hyped the PS1's bits, but just the game medium (CDs) and what those media meant for gameplay.

So, if anything, the next console will either be similar to the Gamecube's name, or have something that makes it sound like a system that's made for games.  I'd expect it to be small with a lot of features packed in that relate to actual gameplay, not just stuff tacked on that raises the price up (dvd, mp3, etc.).

Ok. Why is everyone in this thread talking as if this "Nexus" were real? In the other thread in here (something like 'Where can i find pictures of Nexus?') they were saying that some guy at ign (paladin69? I dunno...) used photoshop to make it. I'm not criticizing anyone; I'm just confused. Is the Nexus the real deal or not? I personally am starting to believe its fake. I mean, the Gamecube is a little over a year old. It's WAY too soon to be even CONSIDERING revealing their next console to the public. But hey, what do I know? I just buy their stuff. It's not like I'm in charge of their marketing stategies.

Nexus is fake. The pictures were made by someone on the IGN boards. Thats why people are guessing what Nintendo's next system will be called. I like Nintendo Triforce.

I still like the idea of the Ultra Nintendo Entertainment System.

although to actually call it an entertainment system they will have to make it play cds and dvds.

After Ultra we could then have the phenoemal.

True but they called them entertainment systems to avoid it being written off straight away as a gaming machine (cos ghaming had killed itself a couple fo years before) and back then there was no real term of entertainment system. While now people might say "Oh I bought a an entertainment system, when they say they bought a 5.1 setup and a dvd player etc."
The times have changed.

How about the Nintendo Picnic Companion, or the Nintendo Family Time System... Or, to settle the stereotyping once and for all, the Nintendo YOCWAK (Yes of Course We Are Kiddy).

I'm just being ridiculous of course. Some more suitable ideas for the next Nintendo console could be:

Nintendo Original

Nintendo Spunk

Nintendo Rush

Nintendo Scenic

Nintendo Modern

Nintendo Neon

Nintendo Inventive

I think that something like: Nintendo Hypercube or Nintendo Tesseract

Both mean the same thing but just hypercube sounds cool. Its a 4-d cube.

Yes, this is anold article, but I wanted to clear up something... you cant copyright a name, you can only trademark it... and the trademark only applies to products within that field of products. So there can be a Nestle Nexus candy bar, a Toyota Nexus car, a Yamaha Nexus synthesizer, and a Nintendo Nexus video game system. So its, not out of the realm of possibilities. =)

I'm interested to hear what the PROJECT NAME for the new console is.

Nexus is cool, but i think it'll be shot down in favour of something like Game-Sphere or something.

Okay, I just got done replying about the name on another thread just a few minutes ago, so I will simply copy and paste that here:

I can't stand people calling "Gamecube 2", as it is the fifth Nintendo console and will NOT be a sequel to Gamecube of any kind.  It will simply be the next console, with no relation to Gamecube.  I saw somebody use or mention "Gamesphere" which is just as lame since it also follows up Gamecube, as if Gamecube was the first and this is the second.  Gamecube had sort of a cubical form, so are there people suggesting that this supposed "Gamesphere" will be a ball?  I would like to see somebody figure out how to make that functional.  The "Nexus" idea is the most realistic of them all, and I would be surprised if it even came out being anything like that.  Yes, right now we do not even have a project name to call it by, but do we have to invent our own ridiculous ones?  If we all do that, we'll have this guy calling it "Gamecube 2", this other guy calling it "NES 5", the next one calling it "Nintendo Mega System", and still another calling it "Mario's Magical Box of Mystery" or whatever.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

- Edmund Burke

If whatever I just posted sounds rude/hateful/whatever then you probably read it wrong, but I will insert apology here, anyways, just in case.

Why do we call it Gamecube 2?
You can call it the Nintendo 5 if you want.
Or the Nintendo 64 2.
Or the SNES2.

EDIT: Nintendo said that the Gamecube was the first of it's kind.
If so, the GC2 name fits perfectly.
Game-sphere and all that are just mockerys of NIntendo naming the console after a 3D shape.
Nexus isn't a project name.
It's a name conjured up by some Photoshop artist who drew the Nexus.
Nothing to be taken seriously.
Plus, Nintendo themselves internally are calling the new console Gamecube 2.

I don't why I'm even replying to the post as seriously as i am.
