Is it just me or is the sickly lemon color of Samus' other M suit off-putting?

You're not alone.  That screenshot looks too shiny.  It looks like bad FMV we used to see in PC games from 1995.
 
And what's with the codpieces on the soldiers?  I thought Team Ninja was all about exploiting the FEMALE form?

Ya'll should check out Another Metroid II Remake (Google that). Some dude is trying to create a Metroid II "rebirth" from the ground up. It's been years in development already, and I really hope he finishes it.

I've watched that with great interest, but waiting on fan mods/remakes usually leaves me a little heartbroken in the end.  Either they never get around to finishing it, or they get that C&D letter when they're nearing the final stages.

If he ever completes it, I'll be one of the first people to download it.

They're doing that by making Samus all fragile and "oh noes my baby!". Judging by how GP is the only person who likes all those changes it seems to work.

If anything, I think they're trying to make her more like Ellen Ripley from the Alien series.  She was tough and had a strong maternal instinct.

The reason I'd like to see a 3D remake of Metroid II is because I love the Metroid mutants and would honestly like to see any remake that exploits that.  Also, we wouldn't have to worry about the story being overly retarded since it already exists.

Super Metroid doesn't really need any kind of remake, but a 3D remake would at least be different enough to be interesting.

I'd love to see some more old school 2D Metroid as well.  Zero Mission was excellent and I even enjoyed Fusion.

They did. It's called Metroid Prime

Metroid II is the one for the old Gameboy, right? If so, I've played it, but I've never beat it because it was too difficult to navigate and know exactly where you were in relation to where you needed to go. The whole game was one giant level, and to make matters even worse everything pretty much looked the same...

It was a cool game and I wouldn't mind playing it again, but I wish it was easier to navigate.
