I cant wait to see what happens in the first couple months of brawl.  Particularly matches between "pros" and casuals".  Smash is a lot deeper then you think.  There are certain techniques in it that aren't exploits which are still use able in brawl.  Not to mention the enormous amount of mind games pros have developed over the years.  Its been around for ten yours.  Im pretty sure pros have more then a few glitches they can use to beat others who play it a bit more casually.  Hell I know most if not all of the advanced techniques used in brawl.  I still would get smashed by them.

2
Your right to some degree.  The problem with your statement is that tourney players and casuals aren't on the same level.  They not only learn advanced techniques but also they master parts of the game that aren't necessarily glitches(the basics).  You assume everyone is on the same level.  Just because the game is, on the surface simple does not automatically put you and me on the same playing field.  I might be better at air comboing you evading etc.  The reason all these glitches and techniques are found out is because dedicated players take the time to learn every little nuance about the game.

Its really confusing to me why these things would even be a problem since there is no stat tracking or any ranking system set in place.  If you don't want to play with someone you could just quit out with no penalties whatsoever.  Anyways I'm not a tourney goer so really it doesn't matter whats in or not.  Ill be picking up a wii and smash bros as soon as it comes out.  It wont be too long before the hard core community finds other things that you might not like.  You might as well do you mental preparations now.

Check smash boards.  They're already figuring out new techniques.  Particularly one called ink dropping.  Seems to be a wave dash substitute.  Taking out wave dashing and all that other stuff wont give casual players an even field.  Withouts those things they'd still get killed.

4
yeah I know.  I See why he excluded all of these glitch tactics.  He wants everyone to be on an even playing field. I just don't see it happening.  Tourny players will just find something else.  Even without new techniques there still leagues ahead of the regular players.  They play for money of course there gonna be better.   I'm excited to figure out knew strategies and techniques in this game.   It really didn't bother me whether he kept them in or not.  I finally get to play another smash bros.  February seems so far now.

5
Wave landing is wave dashing right as you hit the ground.  Wave dashing is just canceling a jump with an aerial dodge diagonally downwards.  It makes you slide forward across the ground.  L canceling is lag canceling.  Hitting the shield button right before you land from an aerial attack reduces the animation frames so you can attack quicker.

Although I use all these techniques I'm not disappointed at all.  Since I didn't go to any tournies they weren't serious parts of my smash game.  I still cant wait for brawl.

One thing I'm confused about is why all these people are so much against it.  It doesn't give the user an unfair advantage.  Those who are good and use it would whoop your arse anyway.  It'll be the same for brawl(Although i can wave dash and all that crap it doesn't help me win because I'm really just an average player).

Plus, what exactly is the blood covering again?  The screen?  The camera?  None of these things exist in the game.  That always bothers me about some games...there shouldn't be screen effects like that if it doesn't correlate with the game at all.  MP did it perfectly because water drops would hit the visor- if there's no visor, having raindrops hit the screen just brings me out of the experience because it reminds me that I'm simply staring at a TV screen.  It ruins the transparency.  Or something.

Boo!

That would be good and fine if it were a FPS but its not.  Its not putting you in the shoes of a warrior.  You are not the warrior.  Your looking from the outside.  That is what third person is all about.  Theres no way to see another person(third) unless your there in person or you have some type of recording device.  Either way its you getting your eyeballs splashed with ketchup or a camera getting sprayed.  Besides that doesn't make the game bad anyway.  Stop nitpicking.  FPS and Transformed FPS(TPS) have become generic.  Theres nothing new to them.  WE need something fresh.  They haven't changed much since doom pc or golden eye.

question about passing.  Are the passing speeds just fast pass and slow pass/lob.  Or can you have more then two varying speeds.  Say i want to throw a fast pass but not a full strength pass.  Does it recognize that.  Also how does the wii verion compare to the xbox version.

im thinking smash attacks and special attacks will be mapped to the motion controller. moving would be done with the analog and maybe dodging with the nanchuku(tilt left or right maybe.  I cant wait.

I hope they redesign it.  Four shoulder buttons makes no f*cking sense whatsoever.

well for the 64 games the analog can be used as the c buttons(for most games).  Also there there is a possibility that multiple versions can appear

Is it like bleach ds where the cards just add to the fighting(such as special moves).   Or is it like a turned-based strictly attack with cards type of fighter.

"Is "It's a PS2 game, only it doesn't look like hell" really all it takes to sell a $60 game to people?"

yes sadly.  The game is actually good though(not great).  Its not next gen but its a decent boxing game.  I cant wait for wii though. Im dying to see what it plays like.  Only a couple more days until we find out.

interesting seeing as how tony hawk has been announced for wii.  That looks better then any 360 title to date, which is why i cant help but be skeptical.  Its far from what we've seen in red steel.  That would be awsome though.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Rumour: Nunchuck to have Dual 3D motion sensing
« on: April 25, 2006, 04:28:16 PM »
okay i read a post from another site check it out below my post.

Basically the nunchaku attachment wont have the same motion sensing capabilities as the free hand.  things like tilt to reload will be functions of the attachment.

__________________________________________

"Last week, a rumor hit the net claiming that the Nintendo Revolution’s nunchaku controller features a built-in acellerometer allowing it to sense it being tilted left or right, or being moved up, down, left, right and in a number of other directions as well.

Today, AMN has confirmed through a developer incredibly close to Nintendo that this rumor is in fact true. The nunchaku peripheral does feature this secondary function. However, we were also told that the nunchaku controller does not feature the same pointing and motion sensing abilities that allow the Revolution free-hand controller to be used like a “pointer” or “wand.”

One example we’ve come up to describe how this function will be useful in future software involves a first-person shooter, in which you use the free-hand controller to look around and aim, while you use the nunchaku controllers analog stick to move around and strafe. Most importantly, you’d be able to tilt the nunchaku controller to the left or right to reload your weapon.

More intriguing than all this, perhaps, our source told us that this “feature” of the nunchaku controller has been in their development kits since they first received them over six months ago. This raises the question, of course, is this the second big secret function of the Revolution controller? It could be. However, it’s odd that developers have had access to the feature and information all along, without ever being told to keep the information under wraps.

Nintendo Revolution will be in full playable form during the Electronic Entertainment Expo., which kicks off May 9, 2006 with Nintendo’s annual press briefing. AMN will be on hand at the event with full coverage"

Note that the article says that the nunchuka WILL NOT have the same pointing capabilities of the remote, instead it will only sense tilting and probably motion sensing (up, down, forward, back, etc). But this is a good thing. Why? Because if it had the same pointing capabilities, it would just be too complicated to coordinate both hands! lol. Instead making simpler gestures with the nunchuka (pulling back, tilting) is far more acceptable and intuitive.

This makes sense for Red Steel. You tilt the nunchucka left and right to lean against walls, pull back on it to reload gun and push forward to push tables. So the remote will only be used to point, shoot, and twist to rotate the gun gangsta style, rather than reload with it and lean against walls with it (by twisting it) as was previosuly thought.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Revolution a lost battle?

Yeah I was very dissappointed in the e3 conference.  Only because iv'e been so excited about the revolution these past couple of months.  E3 was my most anticipated gaming event ever.  It did not live up to my expectations.  Really everything at the Conferences were lackluster to me.  The only thing that made me go wow was killzone(which may or may not be what the ps3 can actually do ingame).  Im still anxiously awaiting new revo information, until then "I hate you nintendo".
