Skyrim Switch To Add Amiibo Support, Motion Controls
« on: June 11, 2017, 05:26:38 PM »

Open world games with Link are a thing now.

A new trailer for Skyrim on Switch has aired as part of Bethesda's E3 press conference, confirming two new features for the Switch port.

The Link Amiibo for Breath of the Wild was shown to work with Skyrim, allowing players to explore the world as LInk. In addition, it appears that motion controls with the Joy-Cons will be supported in the new port.

No release date was given beyond "fall".

For some reason, when I read the headline on another site, I thought it was saying that you could use the Link amiibo in the new Skylanders game (note: there'll be no Skylanders game this year or ever?). I thought, "How would that work?"

Considering the tone/theme of Skyrim, I wonder how weird it'll be to play as Link.

To me that looks more like Link's gear than playing as Link himself.

I was extremely surprised when I saw amiibo support. I havent touch Skyrim since 2012, so I will probably buy this.

Yeah it seems like more of an armor/weapon pack in a BoTW treasure box. I doubt they would try to recreate Link with Skyrim assets. That makes me thing of the Mario costume Bayonnetta *shudder*

I don't know if I have missed it or not, but has it been confirmed if the Switch is getting the Re-Mastered version of Skyrim or just a port of the 2011 original? It would still be nice to get the game anyways, but it would be disappointing to not get the improvements that the Re-Mastered version brought.

I wonder if it'll use the other Link amiibo.  I don't have any of the BotW amiibo, unfortunately.

People are saying it looks like the original, but they are just fussing about the lack of mods. I imagine that this is a modified version  of the special edition with the extras minus mods since Nintendo may not be too keen for opening that box on their system just yet.
