What if it was motion plus using the Gamepad?! I'd pay money for THAT!

The biggest change in Wind Waker HD was to streamline the part of the game everyone always complained about as the worst aspect of it, the Triforce hunt at the end. I imagine for this one they'd want to do the same to the opening few hours of the game.
I've seen about the same number of complaints with the wolf segments, so I don't know if the opening is the thing most complained about. If they are going to make changes based on feedback, they'd have to fix both the opening and wolf segments.

Yes! Button controls with Gamepad motion aiming would be a good marriage.

The IR sensor on the GamePad basically never gets used. The controls should involve duct taping the IR bar (everyone calls it a sensor - it's not a sensor, the controller is the sensor!) to you ceiling and use the GamePad as the shield.

Hate to say it, but Twilight Princess HD does not hold up well, visually at least. I was hoping for at least some new textures or *maybe* some updated models, but it looks exactly like playing Twilight Princess for GameCube (or Wii) on Dolphin emulator, without any added effects. Still a great game...just wish they actually updated it instead of essentially just letting the Wii U output the same exact game at a higher resolution.

Tale of two Wii U remakes.

I played through both Wind Waker and Twilight Princess for the first time in the past year.
One remake is already on my shelf because I found the game absolutely charming and was happy to upgrade.
One remake won't be, because the game just didn't appeal enough to make me interested in a double-dip.

It's cool to see this happen. It's also cool to realize that we can now play every Zelda game on either the Wii U or 3DS. (Are there any missing? I don't think so... as long as you exclude the non-canon games.)

It's just not cool enough to replace my Wii disc that plays just fine on the Wii U already.

I agree that the game is already pretty solid and I can't imagine them changing anything that would make me want to buy it again.  The major complaints I hear are a) the intro is too long, b) bug hunting is tedious, and c) being a wolf is more fun in concept than in practice.  I didn't find problems with any of these things except the intro.  I would definitely like to get into the first dungeon a little sooner.

A couple ideas for minor improvements:
- Make the Ooccoo an item you get and keep.  I hated having to find it in every dungeon (I actually missed it in one dungeon).
- Limit Midna's hints.  There are too many moments that she explains what to do without even giving the player a chance to think about it.

Was Ooccoo really all that necessary? I mean, I don't think I picked her up in every dungeon but I never used her that much either. She was just an amusing thing to discover in each one.

I'm not going to lie, I am itching to replay some dungeons. This game has some of the best, in my opinion.

I actually haven't played this game in a while so I wouldn't mind doing so again, but there's no way I would spend full price on a game I already own. I'd bite on this for maybe $20 tops, but it seems unlikely to drop that far even for a used copy.

It should be, this is probably the easiest port ever made. But at least now we know why you can't play GameCube games (off of a disc) on the Wii U.

You can't do it with the discs because the drive isn't equipped to take them.

Wii was designed to be able to play two different sizes of discs, Wii U is not.

She was necessary if you wanted to quit the game in the middle of a dungeon and not have traverse the whole thing just to get back to the room you were in.  I didn't use her the first time I played through the game because I mostly finished the dungeons in one sitting.  It should really be a standard feature of the Zelda series, though--if you save your game it should return precisely where you left off...not at the beginning of an area or dungeon every time.

Shame the visuals aren't enhanced and that it is just a resolution increase. Still going to get it though.

I disagree. Dungeons are small and short enough it is irrelevant and they make plenty of shortcuts you unlock as you progress through a dungeon so that if you do quit, you can easily jump back in instead of going through it completely.
Sometimes, you just want to play a video game.

Nintendo Fans are getting so much Milage out of Twilight Princess. GameCube, Wii, Wii Hack Homebrew, HD Remake with Amiibo support that translates to Zelda U. Also one of, if not the greatest E3 moments ever...and one of the best threads in the history of PGC/NWR.

If there's one constant across all aspects of Nintendo World Report, it's the consistently terrible track record of predictions.

That's an awesome old thread. Wish I had more time to read something like that. But I at least saw the part where Jonny (and some others) insisted that Twilight Princess would not be on Wii (then Revolution/Rev). Classic.
