It's not like Super Swing Golf is taxing Wii hardware. I've seen the game and it could be done on Gamecube so it begs to reason, on more powerful hardware, that the game should have better load times than Mario Golf, a mid previous gen game.

I guess my problem is with load times in general. In most cases, they're nothing like they were early-PS1 (I'll have to take your word on PSP loading since I don't have one)

To give you an example of PSP load times: I was at a Target store last November and they had a PSP on display and I was bored so I decided to go over and give it a go since I had little hands-on experience with the system. So I turned it on and got the game going and it started up the load screen.

Anwyway, long story short, I plan on going back Friday to see if it's finished yet.

It may have seemed to work well on the N64 controller, but I think that has a lot to do with two things: 1) Like stated above, the lack of need to look up and down and 2) the C-buttons were mapped out a bit further apart than the D-pad on the remote is.

I don't know about you, but FPS's nowadays on consoles have more of a "free" moving feel to them. They seem to replicate what FPS's on the PC have always had in terms of movement. In Goldeneye I felt more like Bond had a stiff neck and had a difficult time looking either left, right, up, or down. But that's just my opinion.

This is all true. It's the design of game levels and how that design changes the gameplay of an FPS that prevents the Goldeneye style from becoming the standard in newer games. Not that certain games don't come very close. One of the options (not sure if it's the default one or not) on TimeSplitters 2 felt very close to GE without actually being exactly like it.

You're the reason third parties cry themselves to sleep at night.

And the quality of your average third party game is why I cry MYSELF to sleep at night.

Seriously though I buy plenty of third party titles. I just don't like sports games unless they've been Nintendo-ized. I can't stand them otherwise most times.

I'm glad to hear that because I was also thinking of having the bucktoothed yokel crying his eyes out and asking "WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN TO ME?!"

Gee golly whiz! Who would've thought that the choice between buying one system (the PS3) or buying two systems (Wii, XBRICK 360) at the same price would have been so easy for the average consumer to make?

It's like Sony has this weird mental image in their mind of the "average consumer" as some bucktoothed, mouth-breathing yokel walking into EB backwards with his pants around his ankles and his wallet open.

You see! THIS is what we need more of on the internet! People complaining about bad video game purchases they made. I mean WOW. What a novel concept.

At any rate I'd just like to make it clear that I refuse to play any golf game that doesn't have the word "Mario" in the title somewhere.

Look at it this way Smash Brother. At least you weren't in a tight fitting pair of underwear in that dream mall of yours. I mean searching for a Wii is hard enough without having to keep stuffing your junk back inside droor every three seconds.

Edit: Can't spall

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wiimote battery life?
« on: January 08, 2007, 12:36:41 PM »
I'm not sure what level of playing time I'm getting out of the batteries I'm using but I don't really care. I have designated two sets of AA Energizer rechargeable batteries to be soley for my Wiimote controller. As soon as one pair goes dead I just pop in the other pair and stick the two dead batteries in the charger. That way as soon as the second set goes flat I have the first set all charged up and ready to go.

I too noticed that the pack-in batteries sort of sucked ass but what else is new in the world of free batteries?

Yeah, but I already took the initiative and bought the torches, pitchforks and sickles.

Do you know how hard it is to get decent sickles in this day and age? No WAY we're stopping now...

Oh totally! Why just the other day I was at Sickle Surplus looking at the new models and I tell you brother, they just don't make old fashioned mob/rioting villager gear like they used to. And the PRICES they ask for torches these days! What am I? A shoe cobbler or a black smith?

Well this is just the last straw!

A thread that starts off talking about porn and then makes some kind of dirty joke at the expense of the pronounciation of the word "Wii". I've never heard of such unruly behavior on a forum. The next thing you know kids will be playing with hula hoops and listening to Pat Boone records what with their ice cream sundays and all that damn roller skatin'....

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Perfect batteries for your Wii

Pretty cool actually. I'm not dropping twenty greenbacks for two batteries though. Unless my electric ass scratcher batteries go dead and I'm jonesing so bad I wind up getting taken at the local Costco by a hostile clerk who fancies making devasting financial deals on his counterstock whenever he sees a man walk into his place of work and demand AAs for his electric ass scratching device.

A scenario which I've been a part of all too many times let me tell you dear sir.

All I'm saying is that the way things are going so far for the Wii this will all be a non-issue in 12 months time. If the Wii is pwning the world next Christmas just like it did this past one than I'd say all of our respective local stores will be stocking plenty of Wii titles for rent in response. This will say nothing of course for how good the selection is on a quality basis because hey, some store managers and retail chains in general are fairly retarded.

If this is not the case though and for some reason the Wii still feels no love from rental outlets despite the huge amount of success it might have then I suggest we all make like villagers in an old horror flick and go rampaging with lit torches.

...or we could just like, make an online petition or something...those work right?

Thanks for even further clarification Smoke39. Apparantly I don't pay attention to games at all. I just plow straight through and scream "I BEATED IT!" at the end of every level. People are like "Did you notice the subtle detail in the background of the boss's cave?" and I'm all like "NO I JUS BEATED IT NUUB!"...yeah I suck.

75
That's what I figured but it didn't make it clear while playing. Thanks for the confirmation though Dozy Boy.
