You need to use your bottle.... That should be enough to help.  If not I'll keep giving you clues, but I'd rather you keep experimenting and exploring your environment first.

What do you do with the items in your spoils bag, mainly the necklaces (like the joy pendeant necklace) I've just beaten the second dungeon so if this is resolved later (i.e. answer would involve spoilers) just tell me that. Thanks for the help.

Various people are looking for certain items.  You can get some great stuff if you give a lot of spoils to the right folks.

That's right.  He has to find it.  That stage is all about stealth and he has to sneak through the first part of the level without using a sword.

I finished the first dungeon and back to Windfall Island. I can't go to anyother islands. And there are dozens of little what look like crowns on the ground. Am I supposed to do something with those? How long does night and day last? Real time? Cause I need to take pictures too but no one is ouside. Basically I'm stuck on this island for right now.

Post by: Bloodworth on March 26, 2003, 01:56:52 PM
Never mind the crowns.  Day/Night don't change while you're on a major island.

Well, I'm sure you've found the boat.  It should tell you what you need, but it's fairly logical - it's the sail.  Try to get the Tingle Tuner before you go too.
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Berto2K on March 26, 2003, 02:01:50 PM
I have the tuner and the sail. I have tried to sail to other islands, but it makes me turn around. The boat tells me that I have to go to the next place on the map, but when I try it turns me around. Should I have the bait bag by now?

are you following the little directional arrow behind the boat?  that helps First dungeon? is that on dragon roost island?  if so then you need to make the wind face south and then sail and use the arrow.

thanks alot for your help earlier and thanks for not spoiling it i thought it could have something to do with the bottle and.. then it j/ hit me , I got the "Ugh, Im retarded!" thought.  but now for a most likely other retarded moment... im on the forest w/e island witht eh great deku tree and im inside everything and the deku tree j/ got his pimples... wut do i do... i tried just about everything, and i thought may be it had to do with the Hollo's forest Potion Shop.. i see the little platforms usually i would jump on them but its not letting me is this a problem or am i missing something??? please help
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Bloodworth on March 26, 2003, 02:28:03 PM
Berto: I'm not sure at this point...you should be able to sail east from there.

mrbojangos: I had a hard time with this too.  I'll just say that you need to do something without using any items - and no you can't jump on the platforms in the potion shop.

I just got the Master Sword, and have been doing quite a bit of island hopping.  I mark my position on the map suplied in the latest issue of GMR, but I want to mark them on the game too.  Should I have the bait bag by now.  I didn't miss it did I.  I think I need to go back to Dragon Roost Island to give that guard a gold feather, am I warm.  The Rito's like bags, right?

You should have gotten the bait bag back at Outset Island way at the beginning of the game.

I'm stuck right now.  I got to the dungeon where the dragon is meant to be and I can't get past that.  I can go to the 2nd room, but seems the ledges are blocked by rocks and then to the left I can only drop to a platform that has some inscription.  Then I can't move and have to restart

Ichabod: Hmm...well the description is a little vague to me and I don't remember having a problem there.  I know there are places where you have to pull blocks out of the way to get through.  Other than that, I'll have to check it out later tonight to see what room you're talking about.

Those side quests are things that I didn't get to in the Japanese version.  I only had three of the bottles myself.  I'll pass this on to a couple others that might be able to help.

I think that you do get the bow in the tower, but I'll check on it when I get back.  The Forbidden Forest?  Is that the US name of the forest dungeon?  I'll check on that for you too.

<Possible slight side-quest spoilers ahead>

Ahh thank you much, I was looking towards the Forbidden Forest. Now can someone help me with the pictograph side-quest. I'm supposed to take a picture of some girl sending an unwanted love letter through the mail. I think it's the girl sitting on the steps of Windfall Island but she never moves, and since time doesn't pass on the Island I don't know what to do. Any hints would be appreciated, and please tell me if I'm focusing on the wrong person. Thanks.

It's in the private oasis.  You need to go back to Windfall and find out who has access to it.  -You may have to do some other things first, so just have fun with the people at Windfall.

You're going to have to tell me more detail about the rooms you need help in.  I can't remember exactly what to do from vague descriptions. --Although if I remember right, you get the bow and arrow during part of this section, but perhaps not as soon as you think.

I am at the part where you have to guide the statues to the middle room. I have gotten the 2nd wind song in there. Then there is the next statue to move. You have to use grappling hook in the first room because there is no middle floor. The 2nd room has a holographic like one-way stairway leading up to a platform. The first room has 2 regular statues, an eye on the right wall, a door which can't get to on the left, and a weighted switch on the far side of the room to open the gate to the door on left. I can't figure out how to get the 2nd special statue out to the middle area that all the hallways connect to.

I've got a couple of camera-related questions; but I'll answer the previous question about the Pictograph apprentice side quest first. Good trade, right?

The one posting the love letters is the guy in the red pants/suspenders. You have to follow him during the day, to the mail box at the docks. Keep your distance, or he'll stop walking and look at you, until you move back. When he gets to the mailbox, the best place to get a picture of him, is on the inside of the archway there, opposite the docks. Get a full body shot of both the man and the box, and you've done it.

Now, onto my question. There's a guy sitting on a set of stairs, near the auction house in Windfall island. He wants a picture of his favorite thing - something perfectly round, and pale. The first thing I thought of was the moon, but that's not the answer. Anyone have any ideas?

Also, after finishing the pictographer assistant side quest, the pictographer asks me about creatures in the Forest Haven which give off light - something he needs to finish the DX Pictobox. I thought it might be those little particle things in the Haven, that have that little radius of light around them, but I can't seem to catch them in a bottle.

Any ideas of either of these questions would be much appreciated.

DT: I think once you get the DX camera, the guy who wants a picture of his favorite thing will accept the moon. If you see him at night he'll be gazing at it through a telescope and recomends you do the same. It has to be a ful moon also i think.

Ok, now I am stuck in the next puzzle hallway, the one with the balancing platforms. I can get one statue over to the other side across the platforms. But i can't take anything (statues or pots) in with me to place on the button to turn off the laser beams that block the main statue. I can't find anything in the room with the laser beams to move around. I even consulted my roommate and he can't figure this one out.

Nevermind, I got a clue on another board on using some "acrobatics" to make it work.

You know what, you just need to play the game.  If it wasn't a major trouble-spot for me, I'm not going to remember it.

Check your maps.  If you have the compass, the treasure chests will appear, and you can bet the boomerang is in one of them.

After you throw her up, she'll give you an empty bottle. When you get it, fill it with water near the big boulder. Then clime on the ladder you can reach, and pour the water on the pants that you'll see. Thet will be bomb flowers. Pick up the bomb and then throw it at the boulder. Water will raise. Swim across and find more bombs. Throw them in the jars and it will make a path. That is where the dungeon is.

I'll give a hint, he's probably nervous from all the caffeine. After that its just making him scared, use whats around you.

You need to feed bait to the fish in each square.  It's much easier if you do it as you go along.  Now, you should find yourself killing a couple hours to fill in your map.  Honestly, this is clearly explained, so the only reason I can assume people are still asking about it is that they skip past important text.

faile', the compass (like all compasses) points north.  So, when you're sailing east, it LOOKS like the compass is pointing west (left), but instead what it's saying is north is THAT way (if you turn left, you'll be going north).  In other words, the compass shows which way is north, not which way you are travelling.

weekapaug, what do you mean?  Have you fed bait to any of the fish?  If you see a fish jumping in and out of the water, feed it some bait, and it'll fill in your sea chart.

The first fish tells you all about it right after you sail south from Dragon Roost.  Every square has an island, and somewhere around that island is a fish.  Find the fish and wait for the targeting arrow to appear.  Then, throw the bait.

Sounds like you know what to do, you just haven't gotten the item yet.  If you haven't noticed, you can use the light to clear the mist on the floor too.

By the way, is it just me or is it totally baffling that they named this the Earth Temple?  I referred to it as the Shadow Temple when I was playing the Japanese version, and that's how I'll always think of it.

I'll help you on what yo need to do next. All you have to to is fill the bottle with water and pour it on the bomb flowers. Pick one of them up and throw it to the bolder, swim across, and pick up near by bomb flowers. Throw them to the jars that the statues are holding. Cross the lava pit and enter the Dragon Roost Cavern. This information will help you. See ya, real soon.

About these questions all you people are asking...

Maybe I'm just a genious, but I really think most of these (for example, the ones with the lighting-up the eyes and the watering the bombs) you could solve yourself, leading to much better entertainment.  Both of those stumped me, too, but that led to me trying more different things and thinking more creatively, rather than asking for help.  I recommend asking for help when a problem really starts to hinder you, and you would have more fun if you just get past it because you have already wasted large amounts of playing time; or if you feel that you are missing out on some aspect of the game that you should be enjoying.  But if you can't solve a puzzle... that's the idea.  Puzzle are meant not to be solved easily, and some of these are just too easy to really give your average person any trouble.  I don't mean to seem like I'm trying to force you not to ask for help, or like I am assuming way too much and this is not at all the case, as it may well not be, but still, I think you should be trying a little harder.

But a good example of some questions that, IMO, are worth asking because they will just get in the way of the rest of the game, are the pictographic quests.  It took me a while until I found the guy who said "I wonder if the Rito postman has come yet" and then it clicked.  I was looking at night for someone who was actually WRITING before.  Eventually I got the picture, but then I decided to check some FAQs, and I'm glad I did, because some things aren't worth spending that much time on.  The coward guy is in the coffee-shop... just throw a pot near him or roll into the table and take a picture of him as he's looking around.

Hmm.. I have a question about the Nintendo Gallery.  I want to try to collect all the figurines, since I'm such a Zelda freak.  My question is this:  Is there a way that you can screw up and absolutely have to start a new game in order to complete the gallery?  I'm near the end of the game (not second quest) and only recently went into the Nintendo Gallery, and have only about 4 figurines so far.

I think you'll need to start the second quest in order to finish the gallery, but the second quest carries over all your statues and gives you the DX pictograph right off the bat.

So members can ask questions without having to worry so much about spoilers, please use the quote button when replying to someone's question. This way they can ask a question without reading the previous posts and then look for their name in the replies.

I just had one of the pictographs spoiled because of someone not doing this.  We want to try and reduce the number of spoilers, and this is the best way I can see to do so.  You read the question, realize you don't want to see the answer and move on.

Ok this is more of a question than a request for help, but if you go talk to the Deku Tree and ask him about the Island Koroks, he says he marks them on your Sea Chart.  Maybe my game is defective or something, but I see no markings whatsoever.

Has anyone else tried this and can confirm that he does/does not add anything?  I've tried re-asking him and all he says is "I've already put them on your chart."

Thanks.

Go directly north of Tingle's Island... the Great Fairy that'll give you a bigger wallet is there.  There's another one back that you may have noticed WAY at the beginning of the game on Outset, when you're going to get Tetra.  Bomb (if you have them) the big rock.

how close were you looking?  See those little leaf marks on some of the squares of the map?  They will be faded unless you currently have forest-water with you, but they mark where the Koroks are.

Kind of early in it but here is my conundrum. IS it possible to go back and finish side quest. Let me lay it out there. When I first got to the one island where you get tingle and the picto box i did not get the picto box. I went to Dragon Roost did everything but get whatever tingle offers on that board, then I read about the camera being inthe cell where tingle was at (im trying very hard to avoid guides unless I am hopelessy stuck). So I dip back over to Windfall, is that the name of that island? Anyway, I missed a ton of junk here auctions, yapping with the camera shop owner, making the windmill turn, playing mine sweeper with squid. So I get my assignment from the camera guy and what I want to know (in this awfully long winded question) can I complete said job or has the opportunity passed? Oh, how long do day and night last in the Windwaker? And any other help you can give.

I swear I don't see anything.  Hell, I will take digital pictures of the screen and you can show me.  I could be blind.  I mean what, I figure I'm looking for green specs?

Maybe they show up after you get forest water and then stay there permanently....

*SPOILERS*

Ok, so I'm trying to get Makar to join up with me.  I have the appropriate song from the Wind Temple.  I head to the Deku tree area and see the musical notes coming out of the waterfall.  But when I try to swing into the waterfall (as multiple FAQs have told me to do) I just hit the wall.  It seems like I can't go far enough down - I keep hitting the top part of the waterfall when it's the bottom part that I want to swing into.  Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT:Nevermind, it was a matter of timing.  For anybody else who has this problem, just release at the very bottom of a full swing, and you'll fall right through.

Didn't that fishman at Dragoon Roost Isle explain how to get your chart maked? Leave bait for a fishman (the weird fish that jump high in the air) and he'll mark the nearby island on your chart and give you some info.

Hemmorrhoid,

You'll be able to get at least six more crests.  You will have to fight 6 Darknuts, 2 in one area at the same time, then 4 at the same time in another area that is not connected to the first area.  (The good thing is that they can help you out if you get them to bunch up and attack you, they'll hurt each other making it easier to kill them.)  It is required to further the story, and is near the end after completing both Earth and Wind shrines.  I don't remember the exact locations but Tingles "incredible" map helps you out.
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Rellik on April 07, 2003, 12:03:20 PM
There are places where they will respond.  The easy way is to go to the place where you get the ... um, let's just say the Ice place, so go there, and drop in the hole where the wind is blowing.  Unfreeze the darknut, get the knight's crest.

Or, you could try shark island.  That takes longer, but more crests per try.

Hi, I'm using a guide to find all the heart pieces now that I'm done the game, the last two I need are the ones where you help the Deku saplings and  the 12-eyed Octo near Tingle Island. The problem is, I can't find him anywhere! I know you have to look for seagulls and I fond four that are always circling the same spot, but when I go there, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? He's inside the waterfall. When you get to the island, instead of going in to where the Deku tree is go left to the platform in front of the waterfall. Use the grappling hook on the branch over the falls, when you swing it will take you inside the waterfall. You should see music notes coming out of the water.

I am having problems in the earth temple. I have gotten the dungeon map, and the treasure in the door on the right of the room with the weird fog. But I can't get past the room on the left. There are 2 buttons on in the middle of the floor. When they are both pressed, stairs open up (or come down) to the door at the top. What I can't figure out is how to get up the stairs to I think push the big box over the edge.

I am trying to collect the triforce pieces before the final battle and I've gotten 7 out of the 8 pieces so far.  I'm missing the 3rd chart/shard.  According to the guide I've been using I'm supposed to transform into a seagull and fly to the top of these rocks and activate the crystals inside.  I found where I'm supposed to go, but I have no idea how to transform into a seagull.  I must've missed that somewhere.  How do you transform into a seagull or is there another way to get up there?  Please help, I'm almost finished with the game, but this one part is driving me crazy!!!

This is where rushing through the game and using a guide gets you in trouble.  This is a neat feature that was introduced before you even got so much as a sword.  You take a Hyoi Pear (from Beedle's Shop Ship) and put it on your head, and a seagull will come down for it.  For whatever unexplained reason, you can now control the seagull.

Why don't you get the Hero's clothes in the second quest? Do you ever get them? I don't know because I just beat it today and I'm still on Outset Island.

Hey, I've got a quick question. On Dragoon Roost Island, eventually in the game some guy appears and he says that he has a job interview and he can't get up there. How do I help him get to his interview?

EDIT: Actually, I just found out when you complete the task of organizing 25 letters, the guy asks you to help out a new part-timer, so when you go out and back in again, the guy that had trouble getting up there is now working. Cool. . .

Hopefully this will be my last help request as I am collecting the last 2 triforce maps. I am having problems with the one that is found in the most top right corner square. Like the fish said, no ledges or platforms. Don't know where to go.

But I did find that other map in that square. Very interesting.

"Use the Hookshot Luke". Go to the lowest tree, hookshot up, and then across to the hole and the mini dungeon contained within.

**Getting everything in the game question**

I was wondering if you get anything extra (extra cinema, etc.) for getting everything in the game. I did get all of the hearts and heart pieces, all of the bottles, and stuff like that. But, i was wondering if it would be worth it to go and get ALL of the treasure charts and special charts, i have the ones i need, but is it worth it to go and get, for instance, the big octo chart?
**minor spoilers**
I'll do it if I get something extra (beyond satisfaction, of course), but i'm not sure if its worth the time. I mean, i'm up to 5000 rupees and i'm at the point where i'm collecting the triforce pieces. Take kingdom hearts, for example. If you got all of the dalmations, locked every world, and completed the hades cup, you got a sweet cinema at the end. Does anybody have any insight on this? Thanks, I appreciate it!!

I am having problems in the wind temple.  That little mini deku thing is trapped behind a gate and i cant seem to get him out.  He just says somthing like i would have to be as big as the great deku tree in order to move the statue head in front of the gate.  Does anyone know what i need in order to move the statue and where might i find it.  First time i've goten STUCK the whole game.

Lui, have you got the Hookshot yet, if so you need to put on the iron boots and attach the hookshot to the target on the head of the statue in front of the cage and make sure you stand to the side when you do it or else the statue will fall over on you.  If you dont have the hookshot look for it, it is probably in some room you have forgotten to search in (I would tell you but i forget)

Hi I'm trying to get a triforce map and it says it's in a ship on the right of my incredible chart.

I remember hearing something about a ghostship from someone someplace but i can't find that person or anything related to a ghost ship. pls help me find a way to get it.

EDIT: I just checked the page ahead and i don't know where diamond step (or something like that) island is.

Diamond Steppe Island is in the first row second from the bottom (F1). You need the hookshot from the wind temple to get on the island. You will get a map that shows the location of the ghost ship.

I feel stupid asking this but here goes. How do you pick up the little piggies??? I've tried running up to them and they just run away. I've tried crawling up behind them and still the action button says nothing. I already have the bracelets too! I wan to pick up the piggies. When I showed the sailor on Windfall my Skull Necklaces and played his game, I had to chop up the lil' porkers to get them to follow me to the guy. There's gotta be a way to do that that doesnt involve pain. Can someone please help?

I had a problem with that too for a long time! hah.  But you'll get it. Just pick it up normally. Follow Bloodworth's question and try to practice on the big pig on outset island.

This question has SPOILERS.. so don't read it if you haven't beaten the game, or are about to.

...Or unless you want to read it really badly.

OK, I'm in the last level, and I'm about to face Ganon, but I want to go back to the surface.  Now I know (now) that to get up there you go into the room filled with water that has 4 switches on the walls.

You hit them in the order they were shown.  Only one problem.  What was that bloody order?
Title: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: TOY on April 30, 2003, 10:15:36 AM
from left to right I THINK it was 3,1,2,4 but all you have to do to be sure is go into the other room with the lanterns. They give you the order, one of them only has 1 flame and one of them has 2 flames, ect. so if my pattern is wrong, just go check the lanterns.

That was a cool puzzle.  Took me a little while to get it.  But now for my question.

Spoilers

Where in God's holy kingdom are the light arrows?  I've found the shadow dude, whacked him, got his sword, but the doors make you drop it.  I figure killing him with a light arrow will summon a portal.  But where do you get these light arrows?  I've tried going back to forsaken fortress (even got to the very top, with my great skill, where you're not supposed to be, because I could walk through the rubbage up there), going back to Mother and Child Islands, and even shooting at the sun.  Where are they?

Did you go to the back of the bomb shop and eavesdrop on the pirates?  If you did, then talk to the King of Red Lions for a reminder but if you didn't then you need to sidle about the edge of the building to the right of the dock and crawl through the hole on the roof...The story will be advanced from there

I have a question concerning one of the puzzles on Link's Cabanna.

You know the picture of the kid with the booger hanging out of his nose?  The picture that you have to rearrange back to how it's supposed to look?  Well, I did that once, completed it, and noticed that a lantern lit up in the upper-left corner, to the left of the completed picture; that lantern stayed lit after I left and returned.  There are 20 small lanterns like that one directly adjacent to the picture puzzle.

Does that mean that the game wants you to complete the puzzle 19 more times?  If so, what do you get for doing so -- I've never been a fan of puzzles like that and although I know this is a spoiler I really do want to know what you earn for doing that puzzle 20 times.  Lemme guess... is it a Heart Piece?

(For those that are wondering, I've completed the game already and am in the process of going through it again... didn't get the deed for the cabanna yet, though.)

You need the map first.  It's on Diamond Step Isle far to the west.  I got lucky on this one, I got the map by chance when I was exploring and it was at the right phase of the moon when the ghost ship goes near Diamond Step.  I got the map and got on the ship in one shot.  It wasn't until later that I found out you couldn't get on without the map.

Im having trouble with those Traveling Merchant guys. I gave one of them a town flower and got sea flower in return. When i gave the sea flower to another traveling merchant, he gave me a town flower. Now one of them says he wants a statue or something in that nature. What would that be ? And also, one of those fish that fill in your map says that the merchant in windfall island has special armor in his precious treasure chest or something like that ( i havent played in a while ) Now do i have to finish trading his products before i get this * special armor * or what-not. Please help.

Keep trading between the three merchants until you have three different flowers. Once you get the third flower, go back to windfall and talk to the merchant/eskimo and he will give you the armor. You cant make any statues until you get the delux (COLOR) picto box.

here's a question for you:  Way back at the start of the game I figured that joy pendants were worthless so when I had like 18 of them I sold them off at 5 ruppees a piece.  Not long after that I finally figured out they were worth something so I saved.  I'm up to 14 so I need another 6 to get the cabana deed.  Does anyone have any suggestions of where I can fight to get more of the joy pendants.  It seems like everyone I've tried to fight so far just give me skull necklaces.

Fight moblins (you know, the green goblin guys, some of which have shields); use your grappling hook to steal Joy Pendants from them.  If you don't want to head back to the dungeons, you can find them usually in the pirate fortresses (the wooden elevated structures that fire bombs at you) that are scattered all over the place.  Some rafts that have big jugs and jars usually have a single moblin sleeping on it, too.

Hello there!

I'm kinda ½wayz through the game (I'm living in Denmark, Europe, so I just got it last week*yeay*).

Concerning Windfall Island:

1)I'm going mad trying to find out how to light the lighthouse/ferris wheel. I pressed the switch high on the backside and I know I'm supposed ride the wheel to the top and get off and shoot a light arrow into the "black swirling thing" (the wind IS facing north) and this is where my headache occurs; What black spinning thing? I only see two big yellow horns which are the big lights I suppose but nothing happens when I shoot fire arrows into those.

I really want to do this, not so much because of the material reward but because it anoys me that it isn't lit because it should be. -And I want it to shine....bahwaah..

2)Also; I've put flowers in all the pots I can find but I miss some since I havn't been rewarded yet. I've only been able to find pots in "obvious"places, so if you know of any "easy to miss" -locations I would be happy to know. I really want to put flowers in all of the pots because it looks nice!! (And beeing an European citizen makes me VERY envious about the fact that we DON'T have Animal Crossing!)

3)Last; I've been trying to get a heart piece at the auction but I keep beeing offered joy pendants, which I refuse to buy.-Do I have to pusrchase an item in order to move on to the next offer, or do all items come in ramdom order?

I really hope you have the time and effort to answer these questions. If so, I will be very greatfull!!

Also accept my appologies if the questtions have been asked(and answered) in previous posts but I didn't want to go through some 7+ pages. If it in fact has occured, just tell me and I'll go through the pages instead.

with all respect.....

Question 1 : Keep trying, you are doing it right, you need to shoot a fire arrow into the big horns to light it. You need to hit the thing in the center. Also, after you light it, go back and talk to the guy standing outside that asked you to light it.

Question 2 : Their are pots all over Windfall, but none are really hidden. Their are some inside some of the buildings. The only other ones I can think of are on The private Oasis, the Island with the teachers Cabana. Its located in square E5.

Question 3 : The heart piece is usually the first thing up for auction. Their is only one, did you get one already?

*SPOILERS*
I have just been to Gale island and have recieved the song I need to play to Makar. When I talk to the Deku tee and ask about Makar, he says that Makar is hiding and that it would be useless looking for him now, but he will retun soon. I have asked many other people I know about it, and they have all just been able to go stait to the cave behind the waterfall to find him. The fact that the Deku told me he is in hiding now, but will come back some time soon would imply that I need to do something such as complete a quest or dungeon to proceed, but I have already completed the Earth Temple with Medli, and have no clue what to to. Any ideas?

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to mention I have checked under the waterfall and found nothing many times.

need some direction as to where to go next...

just beat gannandorf the 1st time around and learned the secret of hyrule and the king of red lions.  now there are 2 or 3 (can't remember) locations marked on my chart to retrieve pieces of one of the triforces.  when i go to one, the fish tells me to go x squares here, x squares there.  then i get there, and that fish tells me to go x squares here, x squares there.  then i get to somewhere where the thing i'm supposed to do looks impossible.  for example, after all the freaking sailing around i get to a place where i am supposed to (i think) ride the winds of a cyclone up high so that i can reach this other perch.  the cyclone is WAY too to ride to.  i have plenty of magic, just can't get high enough to ride all the way to the cyclone.

in any case, i really don't know where to go, b/c the other marked location on my chart pretty much does the same thing...fish says go here.  that fish says go there.

can someone please point me in the right direction as what to do after you meet the real king of red lions?

OK, I have never EVER resorted to getting help on a game before, but Zelda has soooo many little things to do, i just wanna try and get them all, but I don't have a GBA so the Tingle Tuner is pretty usless to me.
OK, I've got the red chart that shows you where are the Rings of Light are for when there's a full moon.
WHat the hell are these rings of light?
Are they the treasure markers that only turn up at night? What?
I dunno.
I've already got everything, since I'm up to Gannon's Tower, I just wanted to go back and do everything I could before finishing the game.

Sledgmb: I think what you're talking about are the items that the fishmen tell you you can get by going x sqaures up and x across, right? Well, for one thing, when you're at either of the two marker locations, the fishmen there will tell you to go to Fire Mountain or Icicle Mountain. To get into either of these places, you need to upgrade your arrows. But to do that, you need to go to Mother and Child Island. To get here, you need to get the warp song. Here's how to get it:

Have you got the bow and arrow yet? Well, get it. It's in the Tower of the Gods. Now, go to the massive cyclone. When you approch it, the other frog god (the brother of the one who gives you the Wind's Requiem) will appear and start laughing and all that. At this point you will start getting sucked into the cyclone. Quickly, whip out you bow and shoot arrows at the frog, who's high above you. After you hit him three times, he'll calm down, see the error of his ways, and give you the song to warp. If you don't get him in time, you'll be sucked up, and tossed to a random location on the map. You'll now be able to warp to one of around 8 locations. The difference with warping to Mother and Child Island is that instead of landing in front of the island, you land on top of teh island where the queen fairy is.

Hope that helps. Now you can go to the other two islands, and then go to the two marker locations.

<spoilers>

so if i understand correctly, i need to ride my boat (king of red lions) directly into the huge cyclone at mother/child islands?  then shoot the frog guy with regular arrows and hopefully succeed there.  then i'll be instantly warped to the top of mother island where the fairy will be?

yes, do all that, but you won't automatically warp there - you get the song so that you can warp up there, and anywhere else on the map.

just get the warp song. you'll see what i mean.

How do you keep all three flowers and flags?  Every time I trade with a merchant, he keeps the previous item and replaces it with another.  Or do you mean you upgraded to three flowers and flags?

Ok, I know this is a stupid question because I got all confused when this was being discussed. Anyway, where exactly is Jabun hiding? I know it's in a cave with a huge rock in front of it but I don't know where that is.

Also, is there a way of uncloaking those weird looksing treasure chests? The ones that you can go right through?

And sorry, one more question How do you hit those steel buttons that stick out of the ground? With a circular top on them. I've tried everything! (Well, everything I can do right now) So I'm hoping it's not an ultra obvious answer.

Anyway, thanks in advance!

yea i have ur answer crooky. well at least some. im not sure who juban is..so i cant answer that question.

and the one about the chests do u mean like the one at windfall? cause that 1 u need fire arows and all ya gotta do it go into that one store with that guy who has that cardboard on his face where u have to take out that octas u no? and go up the stairs and go on the farris ride thing. o yea before u do that u have to climb that big ladder by the eskimos store up the tower by the windmill and click the switch so the windmill starts moving then go bac and go on the windmill and wait till it takes u all the way to the very top and jump to where that weird yellow thing is u no where it says that stuff about the fire guy then make sure its night time so the yellow things moving then light it with ur fire arrows by shooting in the middle of it where the wood is. i hope that helps

and im not sure about that switch ur talking about but i think i do. so this might not b rite but try it neway. first u need the iron boots by going to ice ring isle. starting from the left its 3 across and 1 up, or to make it easier the left square of forest haven. then u get on top of the square and put on ur boots. i hope thats the rite switch u were talking about. try it neway!

if that doesnt help ill try to explain it again just tell me!

Ok, well I'm still at the part when it's permanently dark...Jabun is the guy you have to save I think to get the last pearl.  At least I think that's his name.

Anyway, I think you're talking about the right switch but since I'm only at the part that I'm at, I doubt I can get the boots yet. Right now I'm really stuck on the Jabun (or whatever his name is) part.

o now i no who u are talking about. well u need bombs and all ya gotta do is go to outset island and go to the back where you c the whirlpool get sucked in it and take out your bombs and start shooting at the cracks in the wall right by the whirlpool. make sure u dont waste your bombs so u dont have to go back and get more. after juban will be inside that cave and i dont wanna spoil the rest for u so just do that. I really hope that helps.

I STILL NEED HELP ON HOW TO GET THE TRIFORCE SHARD. READ ABOUT THAT ON PAGE 9 AT THE VERY BOTTOM! IM Cooleio_Dude! PLEASE HELP IM VERY STUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cooleio Dude,

That boat off to the side is the ghost ship and in order to get on it you DO need to go to Diamond Steppe Island. Diamond Steppe is located at square F1. It has a map that allows you to find and get on the ship. Without the map, even if you find the ship (which you can) it will disappear if you try to get near it. Heres the tricky part, you need the Hookshot from thew Wind Temple to get on Diamond Steppe.
That is all, TOY out.

Here's something that's bugging me.  Where's the third Tingle statue at?  I just got the Earth Temple one and it was number 4.  I checked out the Tower of the Gods pretty thoroughly with no luck.

I do apologize to Kendo for my remark earlier.  I thought that if you knew you needed the Hookshot that you were looking for us to tell you exactly how to go through the dungeon to get to it.

Sexy_Thang, whether you understand the rules or not, you still have to abide by them.  They aren't that difficult to understand.  Either way, it's rather presumptuous of you to come into a forum and start thread saying that you'll answer everyone's questions on Zelda when there's a lengthy official thread dedicated to the subject and then doing it AGAIN after you were warned.

I'm in the wind temple dungeon. My leaf-boy companion has been snagged and is behind bars at the moment. There is a large statue in front of the bars.

When I go up to him he says 'if only I was as heavy as the Deku tree I could move it'.

What do I do??? I've tried wearing the heavy boots but I can't move the statue. I've also been around all the dungeon that I can currently get to on my own and there is nothing else I can do!!!!

Also, where is the hookshot - i assume thats what i need to help me out.

What have I done wrong - do I have to start again????

PLEASE HELP ME - I'VE BEEN TRYING TO SOLVE THIS FOR 3 DAYS!!!

dr_legg:
I had heaps of trouble with this one too, and took me a while to get it.

I think the one thing you should have noticed by now are these little brown sqaures with cracks on them. They look like dirt patches. Dont worry about bombs or the hammer, cause they don't work. Simply walking on them with your iron boots don't help either.

Now this is what's really gonna make you tick. I've put it in spoiler form just for you, in case no one else wants to see it:
Just get on the brown patches, THEN put on your boots. The result is a very satisfying thud through the square.

If you STILL don't know what to do after this:
Have you opened up the massive circular floor in front of Makar's jail? Well, do it, since you don't need anything other than the boots to do it. Jump all the way down (halfway down is the compass, just for reference if you don't know what I'm talking about). There are two doors. One needs a key, the other doesn't. You can't get back up cause you need the hookshot, so obviously, you know that you're gonna get it here. Go to the opened door, and there should be a row of brown sqaure patches, and the spikes going up and down like hydraulics on the stage at the back of the room. Just do that boots trick, and you should fall below. Get the key. Go to the key door, and do the *task*, and voila! Hookshot! Get back up to Makar's jail (the leaf guy), put on your boots, and use the hookshot on the target on the head of the statue. Stand to the side, though, or the thing will just clonk you on the head. Makar celebrates, and off you go to the rest of the level!

OK?

No crooky, you're fine. you need the SPOILER ice and fire arrows END SPOILER. then you shoot the ice mountain's "head" with a SPOILER fire arrow END SPOILER and shoot the fire mountian's Lava shooting out of the top with an SPOILER Ice Arrow END SPOILER.  then you can walk on ice island w/o freezing and on lava w/o burning. To get the arrows, you need to find cyclos and shoot him with your bow and arrow until he stops the hurricane thing. then you can warp, and warp to mother and child isles. you end up inside the bigger island and you get them there.

Second, I have a question on Zelda.  You see I'm in Ganon's Castle.  I have defeated all the bosses (the puppet dudes) and then Ganon climbed up a rope with Zelda.  I climbed that rope and got onto a platform.  But I don't know where to go from that platform.

Can anyone help me with these two questions?

To get a picture (actually called an avatar), you need to find a website with them. use any search engine to search for avatars. then when you find a site, right click the picture and go to properties to get the url. copy the url and paste it in the MY Profile on the game cube forums home page where it says Avatar. then you should have one. as for zelda, i think you have to go up another level and maybe jump out of a window? sorry i havn't played it in a while i beat it about a month ago.

I can't get in the boat, I can't get over the wood fence thing, I've looked for places to use my grappling hook and didn't find any. Please help.

Crooky79, you light all the torches from right where you are, you cant get over the fence. Some of them are just hard to find and hard to hit but it can be done (obviously). Use the telescope thing your sister gave you to look around that might help you find a couple .

I'm really stuck right now...I have 4 questions:

1) How do you get on Outlook Island? I can't figure it out...

2) Once you light the 3 lantern things on needle rock isle, the sign says to dive deep to guide some wandering spirit of a boat or something and I have no idea what to do...

3) I have no clue who has those instruments you have to look for...they don't look familiar to me at all, I was looking at the thread and apparently Makar is one of them and I have to check under the waterfall, well what waterfall, I think I've checked under every one in Forest Haven.

4) For the pictobox sidequest, where exactly do you have to go to get a picture of the cowardly guy? I tried right inside the stone gate on the side opposite the docks, and it doesn't wonk, I've probably taken like 5 pictures from there all with different zooms on them and the guy just explains to me that they have to be zoomed in but not too much...

I'm about as far as I can go right now...I need to get the charts and shards and find those two instrument people, please help!

Ok, I'm in the Tower of the Gods(?) (after placing the 3 pearls, it rises out of the ocean etc) and can't figure this out:  in the room with two platforms, like a "scale", with water below it...there's a secret room on the left side with two statues in it, and a round emblem of the floor.  If you bomb the pillars in that room just right, they fall and slightly move the statue....what the heck am I supposed to do, since it does't seem possible to use the pillars in order to move the statue onto the seal?

2nd part, maybe related to the first^^ is, after placing all three "bear-looking" statues in the center room, a beam of light opens up, and takes you up into a room...there's some stairs leading outside to a winding set of stairs on the side of the tower...only thing is, there are laser sentries along the railing, and despite my best efforts, I can't get around them.

There's a man at the table in the Cafe...if you talk to him, he's say's he's afraid of being taken off to Forsaken Fortress...when you knock glasses onto the floor, or break a pot, he jumps, and starts shaking for a bit.  I grabbed a pot (near the counter where the big sailor dude is standing) and then stood in line-of-sight of the scared guy...throw the pot, then quickly use your pictobox to take a snapshot of him shaking (make sure it's head-to-toe).  Viola!

I am stuck in the dragons roost or whatever.

I have gotten through much of it, freeing the girl who was held captive.  Now I am trying to get down to stop the people from hurting the dragon's tail.

I got to this backroom where I had to set one of those scorpion type of things onto the block to keep the fire away from the chest.  From there, there are no more doors or anything.

I am totally lost as to where to go next, it seems I've been everywhere.  What do I do?

Farzadneo and Princess zelda, the fairy that gives you the extended magic bar IS in the square with Two Eyed Reef. Head South and go below the reef like your going off the map it should appear.

BigBo882, do you have the boss key, it sounds like your ready for the final boss fight, check your map, if you have the boss key it will pictured, if not check your map for any rooms you havent been to. Oh ya, its not PEOPLE hurting the Dragon.

I dont think I have the boss key yet.  Even if I did, my main problem is where to go next.  I haven't mastered the use of the map yet, so even though I can see where I have/haven't been, I am not good at getting myself to those places using the map.

So, basically, where do I go now?  Once again, I am at the room where you stun the scorpion creature and set him on the block to remove the fire surrounding the chest.  I can't remember what was inside the chest now, but I don't think it was anything too great.

Ok, I made it out and saved the dragon.

Now, I am at the next place with the Deku Tree.  I have to "knock" those things off his face but I have tried everything.  I am absolutely stuck on this part and have tried using everything I have.

I wish I had a slingshot, but I don't.  Do I need that, did I miss it somewhere?

Just roll into the Deku tree.
Don't you remember how Orca (sword guy on Outset) bothers his brother Sturgeon upstairs by knocking teh wall and making the jars on teh shelves fall down?
Yes, do that.

To look for any giant octoroks, you have to look for a large groups of seagulls in the middle of the ocean. There is a chart for what squares they are in, but if you don't have it, just find out if there is one by going to those big lookout posts (are they called reefs?)ocupied by enemies, and use your telescope.

There is a heart piece in a cave on that island, thats about it. The charts and Tri-Force pieces are usually in the water. The TRI-FORCE charts are at (A7) Overlook Island, (E2) Islet of Steel, (E3) Stone Watcher Island, (E5) Private Oasis, (E7) Bird's Peak Rock, (F1) Diamond Steppe Island, (G2) Outset Island and (G3) Headstone Island.

The TRI-FORCE pieces are at (A4) Gale Island, (A6) Seven Star Isles, (D2) GReatfish Isle, (E3) Stone Watcher Isle, (E4) Southern Triangle Island, (F7) Cliff Plateau Isles, (G2) Outset Island and (G4) Two Eye Reef.

You should be able to get to the area where he is trapped. With the hookshot and iron boots you can free him. If you have the map it will show him on it.

If you had a gameboy you could run in the air for a few seconds, but I dont think that would help here.

Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Termin8Anakin on June 26, 2003, 01:07:56 AM
You don't find a picture of the violin.
unless it's something in the game i'm totally unaware of, you have to find the person who has the same instrument as the sage. For the Earth Temple, it's Medli from Dragon Roost Island. She has a harp. For the Wind Temple, it's Makar from Forest Haven. He has the violin. You need Medli to play the Earth song in front of the big rock to open the Earth temple, and Makar to play the Wind song to get into the Wind Temple. I'll let you find where they are. It's not hard, but not easy either (especially for Makar).

If this is not what you want help for, then I have no idea what you're tlaking about.

Some ghost guy says to find a guy with a violin. Now i have looked at every walkthrough on the internet and they all say go to Forest Haven and go in the water fall. Well guess what? The little punk isn't there. I go in the waterfall on the right and its totally empty. Then to make things worse i have no more ice arrows so I can go to the fire island. If you can tell me what to do your a better man than I.

Megabreath,

First the easy part, Fire & Ice arrows require magic, So just refill your magic meter and they should work. If he's not in the waterfall, did you try talking to the Deku tree? When you check the map it should show you where you need to go, maybe theres something else you need to do before he shows up. Its been so long I cant remember what you get off Fire Island, but you probably need to do that first.

Megabreath2,

How could you be this far along in the game and not know the answer to that question. OK, there are 4 empty bottles you can aquire during the game, you need them to hold the potions to restore health and magic. They can also hold other things. Where do you get the potion you ask? Good question. I can think of 3 places off hand, 1) there is a cave behind the Deku tree where a leaf dude can make some. 2) On windfall Island there is a guy who makes potions, you have to give him the little green and blue blobs you get from killing the little jelly creatures. 3) Your aunt on Outset Island makes the most awsome potion, it restores health and magic and you can fit two doses in one bottle. You have to heal her with a small fairy that you bring to her in one of the bottles.

I'm new here so first off: Hiya!

I picked up a Platinum Gamecube with The Wind Waker and the Ocarina Of Time bonus disc about a month ago, and played trough the game without any help so far (I've just beaten the Monstrous Helmaroc King). But I was wondering: Do you get anything, or does anything happen, if you put a Town Flower in every Joy Foundation thingey on Windfall Island?
And, when the girl was messing with the salesman's safe, I busted her by walking to her. We talked a bit, and she gave me the empty bottle. But, if I would just make a picture of her messing with the safe and run away, it seems like the Eskimo guy (Lunarzo or something) is talking about someone's been messing with his safe, and how he'd like to get some proof of it. I talked to the girl and got the Empty Bottle, but my question is, do you get anything if you show Lunarzi the picture?

P.S. The Nintendo Gallery is FUN!

When you put flowers in all the outdoor pots on Windfall, go to the guy sitting on a bench. He'll give you a heart piece. I don't know what happens when you put flowers on all the pots EVERYWHERE (indoors and in Link's Oasis).
I don't think you get anything from eskimo man. Him saying that someone's messin with his safe hints for you to wait for someone. Blonde girl gives you the bottle, then swear never to do anything like that again, so yeah. That's it. NOthing more. I think.

How do you get more flowers?  I only seem capable of getting one, the exotic flower I ended up with after getting the magic armor.  I want to do this sidequest, so does anyone know where or how to get more flowers?

Also, has anyone else tried the Nintendo Gallery sidequest?  Thus far I've filled the Windfall room, all but two in the Dragon Roost room, and several in all the other rooms.  Can you finish this if you've already beaten the game, and can you get the things you've missed some other way?  Or am I screwed?

Jarob,

Talk to the Eskimo guy you bought the sail from, he will ask you to work for him. Say yes and he will give you the first flower, you must find the Goron traders and trade with them. After you receive 3 different flowers go back to Eskimo and he will give you something, I wont tell you what, but after all that you can buy flowers from him and decorate to your hearts content.

Not sure if I'm posting in this thread correctly, so apologies in advance, but I have a Wind Waker question:

I've just reached the castle under the sea that is frozen in time (at least I think that's the idea) to get the Tri-Force. There's a statue of Link in the main room of the castle, and I think the Tri-Force is under the floor. I just don't know how to get at it, and I'm impatient to keep moving -- this seems like an important point in the game! Now that I'm inside this castle, what's my next step?

In the center of the main room are three pieces of triforce that you must rotate to make them fall into the floor, after you complete  the puzzle the statue will open up.

I've figured it out, sort of.  One darknut is the basic white ones, though red ones and such shall suffice.  The others are (I think) either gold or black.  You take a picture of either and get a gold one.  I have both of those.  There's another one, though: Might darknuts (they have capes, so that makes them mighty).  There are only a few, in Ganon's Tower, so I have to get all of the Triforce bits and go to Hyrule again.  Poop.  Ah well.

I'm playing through WW my second time, and this time I am trying to complete everything, anyways one of the Fish-Men says this clue:

"I hear that somewhere out in the wide world is an arrow that can freeze anything. With an arrow like that you could even freeze that nasty monster in the Forsaken Fortress... for a while, anyway. But then, what would you do with a frozen monster, you say? Good question, fry. Why, I'd say you give that thing a whack and watch it shatter into teeny-tiny pieces!"

Is he just talking about the bird monster (can you freeze and shatter him), or is there someone else that you can only destroy with the ice arrow?

You can't do it against a boss, but you can use the ice arrows to freeze any enemy.  The only enemy that comes to mind that you NEED ice arrows are the blue bubbles, which you'll see pretty soon.

You don't NEED the ice arrows for blue bubbles; a deku leaf blast or the hookshot will do.  But if you're using arrows, yes, only ice arrows will do.

I have finished the Nintendo Gallery.  It was quite a doozy, but I'm glad I did it.  Now I'm just chillin at the Nintendo Gallery HQ. . . so any questions about that bit and I can easily answer them.

I know you can freeze pretty much anything with the Ice Arrows, I was just wondering if there was a specific monster the fish was talking about since he said to use it on the monster in the foresaken fortress.

I want to complete the Nintendo Gallery myself, but its gonna take forever. Is there any way to get to take more than three pictures at a time? I think I have like 10 statues made so far. Many many more to go.

The fish could just be making a generalization, and the monster could be Ganondorf.  He's just making a point about how strong those arrows are, possibly.

Many many many more.  But I had fun doing it.  And no, three is the maximum.  And you'll probably have to start up a new game to finish it up (you start out with the Picto Box deluxe and all that you've done of the Nintendo Gallery in a new game).  But I liked it.

I thought it might just be a generalization for the ice arrow, I just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing anything important.  I'm playing my second time through, this time in my PJs, but unfortunately I didnt do the gallery the first time around, so I am starting from scratch.

Did you notice that on the picture of the boss from the Forest Haven (I forget his name, the guy that eats makar). On his sculpture it shows makar standing on one of the bad guys leafs and the text says that his favorite thing is "Makar". Must be a delicacy since there is only one Makar.

Go to the island one square north and one square west of Outset.  I forget what it's called, but you need the hookshot to get onto it.  Go all the way to the top and fall down the hole.  There should be a bunch of old pirate ships and pots with purple smoke coming out of them (like warp pots in previous dungeons).  They are warp pots, and you have to jump into certain ones to reach your destination.  You'll get the right order of pots through trial and error.  There are floor masters all around, so be careful.  A simple brown chest is the one that has the chart in it.

Look for the really big hurricanes and sail into it. You have to hit the guy on the cloud 3 times before he sucks you it. Use boy and arrow. After that you get to use the song he gives you to ride hurricanes to certain areas. Go to the mother and child islands and get the fire and ice arrow. Then you can go to the fire mountain and ice ring isle (the order doesnt matter).

Throw the bomb in the first vase, it falls. Jump on it and throw a bomb in the second vase. Timing is key.

I have a question.  I am on Windfall Island, with the pictobox, trying to become the photographers apprentice or something of that nature.  I already completed the first task, which was photographing the man sending love letters.  I am now stuck on the second task, which is finding and photographing the person who is extremely timid and cowardly.  Could someone please tell me who this is?  I have no clue.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Go to the bar behind Zunari's shop. There is a guy in the corner and if you throw a vase or anything he will shake. Pick up a vase and stand far enough away to get a good pic. Throw it a him and take his pic really fast.

go by the mail box and get as far away as you can and still be able to take a good pic. Then just wait for the guy to walk up to it and mail the letter. Just be patient. The guy you want is wearing red. Also dont let him see you.

I havent found that one either.  There is a sign on tingle Island that says something about a bigger wallet north of here.  I'm assuming that the fairy is somewhere up there, but i only had a very quick look.

The fairy is on northern fairy island, two squares north of Tingle island. Actually this fairy is the first one you should get since you can get it before you get bombs (needed for the Outset fairy). Anyways just head north and look for the island.

Keep trading the items for new items with the Gorons. There are three Gorons (Mother and Child, Greatfish, and Bomb Islands). Keep trading for new items and eventually you get a piece of heart.
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Shorty McNostril on August 01, 2003, 07:26:52 PM
Does it matter which goron you trade with first.  I know the eskimo dude said that you go to bomb island to trade but that was the second last island i found and by that time i had traded the town flower with one of the other ones and i got the sea flower.  Also, does anything happen when you put a flower in every pot thing on windfall?
Title: RE:The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: DRJ on August 01, 2003, 07:39:44 PM
Each Goron will trade you something different depending on what item you offer, but only one Goron will offer you a new item. Just make sure you get something new, if they offer you an item you already have go to another island.

If you put a flower in all 14 pots outside windfall you will get a piece of heart from the guy sitting on the bench.

Yeah and what I did was buy the town flower and had the sea flower in my inventory so if the goron turns down one, I'd try the other. Eventually I found the right Goron.

You should have a bottle by now. Put it on your x,y, or z button and that little bit of water around that rock where you picked up that girl.  Dip your bottle in the water using xyor z and then poor the water on the bomb plant above to water it and then you will have a bomb to use. Toss it on the rock and let it fill up with water. Swim acroos and then you have 2 statues to bring down. Throw the bomb in the empty vase in the statues and cross over., The first statue is easy. The second one is not. You have to grab the bomb and jump sideways then toss it in the vast on the second statue man. Then walk across. Have fun sir.....Harley

I've got one Triforce scroll left to get, and it's the one found at Outset Island. I can't seem to find it though. I think it might be in the cave at the back of the island, but if it is, I don't know how to get it. Can someone tell me how to get it?

You need the power bracelet and your magic meter needs to be full(double magic helps but is not necessary)

Go to the top of outset where the bridge is/was.  This time as you fly across you need to NOT try to land on the other side.  Instead you fly around it to the right and there will be a big rock on a smallish cliff that has a face carved into it.  It is roughly above Link's house.  Lift that rock and have a good time fighting your way to the triforce chart.

that is the most hectic battle i have ever done in all of Zelda! It is soooo cool!

Another way to get there is if you have the hookshot:
Go to behind Link's house and stand right under the tree (which is on the ledge where the rock head is) and simply hookshot yourself up there!
No need for a tedious walk up the mountain and risk losing all your magic on the leaf before you even get to the ledge!

I have two questions:

1.  On Windfall Island there are two men in the coffee bar who are about to fight.  Is there something I'm supposed to do?

2.  Someone posted that they completed WW with 98% completion.  Is there actually a way of knowing how much you have accomplished?  I'm on my second time through and never saw anything that told you how far you got.  Just curious.

Answers:

1- Don't remember(sorry). But you can check at www.gamefaqs.com. Most probably you will get your answer for one of the WW faqs that they have.

2- The only way to know how much a player has acomplished is with a checklist of things to collect in the game by your side. Just like I had for the Nintendo Gallery.

1. i don't there anyone has a fight in the bar. as much as it sounds coool.

2. there'sno way of showing the percentage completed, like in Metroid Prime.
you know if you've gotten all the treasure maps if every sqaure has a red circle on it. the red maps like fairy, platform, secret cave and squid maps don't have wny markers on them if you've beaten them. You know if you've gotten every single heart obviously if you have 20 and figurines if the nintendo gallery is full.

And I was wondering if you get anything for it, or if it is just for like no reason at all because I have put a flower in like every one of those flower holding things and nothing has happened...

Okay, here's another one that is hopefully easier.  How do you get the figurine for Knuckle (one of Tingle's friends)?  I know you have to do something with the Tingle Tuner to make him appear on Tingle Island but I cannot figure out what to do.
Title: RE:The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help

Do you mean for the Nintendo Gallery?  What you do is turn on your Tingle Tuner on Outset...Knuckle will then talk to you and make you do a couple things.  Once you do all of them he will appear on Tingle Island(Though you can't get him if you've already completed the Gallery)

(I think this is close to the end of the game. Anyone who isn't too far may not want to read it...)

Alrighty, check this out. I've been plain' Windwaker for a while and I got pretty far by my self. Now, I'm pretty desparate to finish it because I'm gettin' a new game, soon. I've reached ganons dungeon and passed the four parts and bosses. In the last room I've solved the lantern, thing as well. It looks like there is a blue design on the center of the floor in the main room... in front is a brick wall with a design on it, and some sort of skull above that... can anyone give me a hint on what I might want to do, next?
Title: RE:The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Bill Aurion on November 03, 2003, 11:37:40 AM
So you've solved the lantern thing?  Well did you jump into the pit that is formed after you did that?  That will lead you into a maze-like area where you will fight a Phantom Ganon...After you kill him, look at the hilt of his sword.  Enter the door that the hilt is facing...After a half dozen times you will reach a deadend and face Phantom Ganon for the dozenth time.  After you kill him you will get the Light Arrows...Exit and you will appear in front of the door with the weird design...Kill another Phantom Ganon that appears(yes, again ) and he will leave his sword.  Attack the door with the sword and you can continue...

I'm hoping I'm not the only one whos had a hard time tryin' to figure out how to kill the large bubble-like, puppet, ganon, monster? Here what I know... You can cut his strings, you can use the water as a mirror, you can reach the platforms with the hook shot... that seems to be about it... If I look up, it appears like I can use my grappling hook if I get to the wooden frame. Am I supposed to get on this guys back and climb the red string, maybe? I think it's a little different than that. The pirate/princess asked the King to come with them and they could create a new Hyrule. The King replied saying that Hyrule could not be replaced... he said that the new world would be their own (Link and the Princess.) So they might have been off to do anything... maybe explore.. maybe begin a government? XD

Well the sequel is going to be running on the same engine as WW, just a powered-up one, so it's probably be on water again... The Red Lion boat won't be there I guess (looking at WW's story), and it might even turn out not to be a boat-riding adventure at all... who knows, they only used it 'cause that was the most obvious choice on a water-world. I'd like to see some flying around on a dragon or something, but that's just a wish

I am stuck in the wind temple. I have gotten the map, the compass, the hookshot, the boss key, released makar from prison, turned on the wind fans and gone to every area in the map that I can access and opened all the treasure chests.

Now, according to the map there is a door in the basement level that leads to the boss area, but I don't see that door.

According to some walkthroughs I found, I should be able to drop down to the basement level and go BELOW the fans somehow, but I see no way to do this. Is there a trigger I missed somewhere that will open the passageway down?

Thanks in advance.

Argle

Did you manage to get down to the fan? I don't remember what opened the floor to get down there, but once you reach the fan you'll just have to walk over it when it is stopped, and you'll be able to go down AFAICR...
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Argle on November 24, 2003, 01:47:31 PM
That's the problem. I can't get down to the fan. All the walkthroughs just say to go beneath the fan, but they don't say what triggers the floor opening up to allow you to go below it. And I've opened every chest and gone to every accessible room in the map. I must be missing something but I don't know what.
Title: RE:The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: grassfairy on November 24, 2003, 02:07:12 PM
Well since you have the hookshot you should be able to get to the fan...you know where the door is to get to the hookshot? Well the fan is right there and all you have to do is wait for the fan to stop and jump down into it...Unless you mean the thing covering the fan...I think you need makar to plant a seed somewhere to open it...but I'm not quite sure...I haven't played the WW for a while now but I'm pretty sure that's what you do...look at your map and see where you haven't gone. That always helps me. Sorry I bet that wasn't much help..was it?

Argle, if you're still stuck: i've found a guide for you that describes where the switch you need is. In case you want it it's here : http://www.detstar.com/zeldawindwaker/walkthrus/windtemple/

Look for "You've got your companion back". In this guide they take you to the switch right after you free Makar...

Basically you have to go to the room, where Makar was kidnapped, go up the platforms (by making Makar plant trees on them), and proceed the same in the next room. Behind the next door you'll find two buttons you need to step on.

Where would you find the magic armor?

I've finished the game but still haven't gotten it.

It's quite simple. All you have to do is:

Find the Gorons on bomb island, Greatfish Isle, and Mother and Child Isles. Trade them the flowers that you get from Windfall, and you should finally get all three different types of flowers.  Then go talk to that eskimo guy in Windfall, the one that gives you the flowers to trade, and he should give you the magic armor for completing it.

I hope that helped you some.

Oh, really? I never knew that.  Thanks so much, Pumpkin.  You really helped me.  I was about to kill myself!

You have to do some pattern of trades between Mr. Eskimo and the three Goron merchants...I believe all you need to do is give a flower to one of the merchants, take back what he gave you to the eskimo, then buy it from him again, and take the item to the second merchant, who will in turn give you something new.  Take it back to the eskimo, buy the item back, and take it to the third.  Once you bring the item the last merchant gives you, I believe that is when you get the armor...

I think another, easier way to get the magic armor is to follow the girl on Windfall. In the night, shes near the shop, and you have to follow her from a distance until she gets to the safe and tries to open it. Then you take a picture of her, talk to the girl (who gives you a bottle) and show the Eskimo the picture. Then he gives you the armor.

The trading gets you all kinds of cool stuff, though.  I gots a fountain woman (like how its head droops occassionally) and a sea flower at my private cabana.

How do you get a fountain? All you can trade is flowers right? At least I thought...

You can gets statues and banners, too...You just need to trade different things with different merchants until you get them...
Title: RE:The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Pumpkin on December 11, 2003, 11:59:39 AM
Really? I didn't even know that! So, can you trade just anything? Or does it have to be the flowers still?
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Bill Aurion on December 11, 2003, 12:21:19 PM
Just give each merchant every item(as in flowers) besides the one they first gave you...Then you will start getting other things such as statues...

I am stuck in Dragon Roost Cavern. I have been completely through it, with the exception of the final boss. There are two treasure chests that I have not obtained yet. One of them just appeared. I have no idea how to get to them. I am in the main room of the cavern, and there are towers of flames blocking the way. The grapling hook doesnt reach far enough. Can you please help. I cant get past this, and therefor cant get to the final boss.

I'm not exactly sure where you are. Do you mean, up at the top of the main room with all the fire and stuff? Can you be a little more specific? I haven't played WW for a while now.

" I cant make the wind go south. Is the a specific place i need to stand? This part has been irratating me. If anybody could help i would greatly appreciate it."

My guess is that you haven't received the Wind's Requiem yet...On the island you will find two blue tablets, with one broken...Stand in front of the unbroken tablet and pull out your Wind Waker...

If im thinking of the right spot(been a LONG time since I played) There are 2 blue Jelly dudes in the room. Burn a curtain with the fire arrow and freeze them with the sunlight, then set them on the switch.

Hey, I've got 4 more heart pieces left until I have all 20 hearts.
My internet is screwed up, and for some reason PGC is the only site I can get to (can't get to gamefaqs or anywhere else).
What I have to ask is in the island hearts chart, it says there are is a heart piece in five star isle and seven start isle, but where are they?
I've killed all the Kagarocs, but nothing comes up.
Is it on the platforms?
Cause there are no hearts on them.

Termin8, both of those are in the water in treasure chests.  I believe the one at 7 star was in a chest under an Octo I defeated.

Try checking other websites. Like Gamefaqs. Did you get the map where it tells you where all the heart pieces are? I beat the game and got that map. It's quite useful. Though, I forget where I found it.

If I'm remembering this boss correctly it's the face and two hands.  You have to use arrows to shoot each of the hands first. When they pause, shoot the eyes on the face. When it opens its mouth throw in a bomb.

1) The Pirate Ship is a ghost ship...From what I remember, you need the Ghost ship map to be able to board the ship(by running into it)  You find the map on one of the islands in the south-western portion of the overworld, but I can't recall which one...And you get a Triforce map there, not a piece of the Triforce itself...Or is that what you meant?

2) Saving the trees gets you a heart piece, that is all...Be sure to look at the Triforce map that con-artist Tingle sold you...

3) Once you have all the pieces of the Triforce, you'll soon be heading to Ganon's Castle...

Look for the cyclone at sea.
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker General Help
Post by: Zach on March 14, 2004, 03:58:17 PM
To get the ballad of gales you find one of the HUGE cyclones out at sea, once you are starting to get sucked in, point your arrows towards the top of the cyclone, and shoot at the big fat thing on the cloud in the middle of the cyclone

to get the ballard of gales u have to have the heros bow and find a huge wirlpool thingie.

Get the triforce map from Tingle, it shows which islands have shards and which don't. For the outset shard, deku glide from the bridge to the big platform to the right and throw the stone head.

8-i think.go to tingle's island and pay him money to decode the charts-which will allow you to see where the triforce pieces are located.

You also need to use your hookshot on your boat to pick up some of the pieces. Others are on land.

After you get shot out of the cannon, you have to find your sister.  Here's how. You need to shut down the searchlight at the fortress. You have to defeat the enemy at the searchlight to shut it down. (Hint: use your shield, our find sticks at the searchlight, okay?
