speaking of Chinese places...there is this place called Kelly's Cajun Grill, and its supposed to be Cajun food....but its take out Chinese. I think the only think Cajun about it is that they have seasoned potatoes.

Speaking of "Chinese" food.....

Panda Express: Who eats this crap? their food is terrble [/carl malone]
They may have 1 or maybe 2 items that may be slightly enjoyable, but seriously, the majorty of the stuff they shovel onto a plate can hardly be called food and much less "chinese"/

Speaking of Burritos, anyone ever go to Moe's? That place is horse ****. It's the blandest burrito you'll ever have. Even if you get some spicy salsa or something on it, then it's just a bland ass burrito with spicy salsa.

Panda Express was good for the first two weeks of moving into a college town. Then it got old really quick, and almost sickening to think about. Where i'm from we mostly ate Buffet Chinese food and Mexican food. Panda Express was probably the first chain Chinese restaurant I came across. The second was P.F. Chang's which is delicious...but really fucking expensive. Japanese food is almost the same thing, and outside of sushi it is much much cheaper.

P.F. Chang's is ok, but it's still just American Chinese food. I've never been in Panda Express, but my friend got some one time and it looks just like the **** you'd get from one of the Chinese places in the mall for $5.

That is largely what it is, and unfortunately it is also the only dining establishment open at my university on Fridays.

yeah, for the most part I just eat Chinese food at small family owned businesses, on the other hand I still think its catered for western tastes. There is no turtle or penis on the menu like there would be at one of the restaurants Andrew Zimmern has visited in actual China.

From what I understand, Americanized Chinese food typically has stronger flavors (except heat) and more meat.

Maybe I'm biased, but American pizza is superior too!

I enjoy Italian pizza, most "by the slice" style pizza I have eaten in Italy is far superior to the American equivalent. There was a pizza place I went to every day for breakfast for a while (just outside of Rome), I absolutely loved it.

McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Checkers, etc:
Double cheesburger (only cheese and ketchup), large fry.  The girl who used to be at the cash register at McDonalds memorized this order, even though I only go maybe once a month tops.  If it is a place with larger burgers, scratch the second burger (or even the double, depending on the size).

Subway
If they have it, seafood salad, aseigo cheese bread, american cheese, nothing else.  Otherwise Philly cheese steak, onions, otherwise the same.

Quiznos
French dip

Panera
Clam chowder bread bowl

Taco bell
Steak Quesadilla

Dairy Queen
Foot-long cheese dog, nothing on it.  Fries, vanilla milk shake float (if they still have those).

Pizzaria Uno's
Chicago classic deep-dish pizza

Pizza hut
Stuffed-crust with only cheese

Pizza (any other)
Cheese

Panda express
Death.  I always regret eating there.

KFC
Popcorn chicken

Popeye's
Catfish sandwich, biscuit.  I sometimes go here just for the biscuits to eat with canned clam chowder, since there is one right near my house.

Favorite Sushi
Unagi (or anything with it), followed by anything with dynamite in it.  After that it varies a lot depending on what is available, but snapper, shrimp, crab stick (or better yet crab if they have it), or tempura shrimp or soft-shell-crab are good.  When I make it, usually either dynamite shrimp, fried fish, or baked chicken.

I find the concept of fast food wings appalling.

they take like 20 minutes to make, and they are better than any wings i get in a regular restaurant. Wing Stop is barely a fast food place...they definately aren't shitty like Wing Street

Chain pizza typically sucks, there's a place around here that will rival and defeat any local place that anyone here mentions. It's like the Soup Nazi's place on Seinfeld, there's a constant line out the door at all times, and they don't take any ****. One time they didn't give me my change, and I was like "**** happens" and didn't mention it. I will admit that the "new" Domino's is actually pretty good though. Uno's is fucking garbage though. Deep dish pizza (and pan pizza in general) is a disgrace to the very concept of pizza.

Fun fact: pizza is the Italian word (though American spelling) for pie. So when you call it "pizza pie" you're calling it "pie pie."

Deep dish pizza is amazing; it's quite different from standard pizza, but it's great. There are so many good local pizza places here, and a bunch of great wing places. If I'm getting both I go to Valerio's, but only the one at 32nd and Pittsburgh; the rest aren't as good. If only pizza, I go to the east side South Gate, and for just wings either Chipper's or Odis 12 (I haven't been to Odis 12 in a while because it's more out of the way and doesn't have very good atmosphere, but their wings are amazing).

What tipped you off? ;)

I'm not as bad as my friend in undergrad who wouldn't eat sandwiches.  She took them apart and ate the meat, bread, and veggies separately.

Excellent choice for Panera, though I will typically go for some variant on their "You Pick Two" option.

Burger King: Double Whopper with Cheese add bacon, no tomatoes.

McDonald's: Double Quarter Pounder w/Cheese -or- Dollar Menu

Wendy's: Anything with bacon, really. Unless it also has mushrooms.

Subway: Either the spicy italian or cold cut combo

Chinese Takeout: Shrimp Lo Mein or Shrimp with Garlic Sauce.

The only fastfood place that I've liked a burger with mushrooms has been Carls Jr.
Burger King & McDonalds uses the same cheap canned mushrooms and Wendys isn't much better.

As far as getting some chinese takeout, I always get:
House Special Chow Fun & House Special Fried Rice - if a place can't get either of those right(specifically the Chow Fun), I will likely find somewhere else to eat next time.
I pretty much mix and match from there, but sweet & sour pork, beef and broccoli and pot stickers are constant favorites.

I do enjoy the broccoli dishes. Beef, shrimp, it's all good. I also like steak and cheese eggrolls. How often I go to a place depends on how well they make those or if they offer them at all.
