Deadpool Game Announced, No Platforms Given
« on: July 15, 2012, 07:14:49 PM »

CORRECTION: Marvel Comic's irreverent "Merc with a mouth" anti-hero has a videogame, but no specific platforms have been confirmed yet, not even the Wii U.

CORRECTION: This story originally described the Deadpool game as confirmed for Wii U. However, the context surrounding the discussion of the Wii U at the San Diego Comic-Con panel appears to be more accurately attributed to Avengers: Battle for Earth. The Deadpool game still has no announced platforms.

Wise-cracking, fourth-wall-breaking, anti-hero Deadpool is coming to consoles next year, according to information from the San Diego Comic Con panel where the game was revealed. No specific platforms were mentioned in the game's teaser trailer.

The trailer, viewable at the game's official website, starts with the red-and-black spandex-clad super hero directly addressing the viewer and then proceeding to argue with the multiple personalities in his head. This is followed by what seems to be third-person game footage of Deadpool wreaking havok on enemies with his katanas, guns, and fists, all the while cracking comments and making remarks.

The game will be published by Activision, and is under development by High Moon Studios, who are responsible for many of the recent Transformers videogames, most recently Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.

This was a misinterpretation.  There are no currently confirmed platforms Deadpool will be on (though I think we can assume Wii U would get it anyway).  Here's the question as it appeared on the liveblog:

Quote
Q: Deadpool is awesome. I wanted to ask about the Kinect game. Can I play? (a fan in a wheelchair asks)
"The Kinect game" is Avengers: Battle For Earth, also coming to Wii U.  Because they said Deadpool is awesome, it's been misinterpreted as a confirmation for Wii U.

I'm surprised you published this story, Kairon, as you were the one who corrected me on this in the first place.

Thanks SonOfMrPeanut. The link we were originally talking about didn't have this question and answer session, so it was clearly not a confirmation. The Q&A description from the linked liveblog does seem at first to be about the Deadpool game, but you're right in pointing out the full and complete context of those statements.

So here's video footage of the panel.  You'll find the Q&A that were the root of this around 43:30.

Well this certainly nips it in the bud:  Nintendo Everything asked Activision, and they got the "no platforms officially announced" response.
