Staff from Wave Race 64 are working on the waterskiing game from Wii Sports Resort. Yeguchi was the director of that game. The team is going to create a game that "surpasses Wave Race," according to Yeguchi.

Miyamoto can hint at things that are nowhere near a presentable state. To show something at E3 they need to get some part of the game running in a fashion that's representative of the full game or at least create a mockup using 3d software (which usually gets them flamed).

That is my best guess as to why those games weren't shown, they are not in presentable shape. Now the reason behind not showing Kid Icarus is odd, but perhaps the developer felt it wasn't quite ready to debut (From most accounts the game is real, even Miyamoto hinted at it). Another reason could be that the developer behind Kid Icarus didn't want the game shown at E3 because of the more casual nature of the conference.

Well, we still got the Tokyo Game Show  and anything can happen there.

Except that Nintendo NEVER shows up for the Tokyo Game Show.

I hope they prove this fact wrong this year.

They won't do TGS, they'll have their own show like they did last year sometime in the next couple months. I doubt we'll see anything for this year besides maybe a release date for Disaster, though.
