New Switch Details: Multi-Account Support, Storage, Miis
« on: January 19, 2017, 11:36:00 AM »

Might want to load up those three Nintendo Accounts.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/44026/new-switch-details-multi-account-support-storage-miis

Nintendo has revealed additional details about the Switch following questions from Kotaku.

For game storage, Nintendo has confirmed simple SDXC support for the console, offering up to 2TB of storage as it becomes available. Game saves will be saved exclusively on the Switch's 32GB internal storage, with "re-downloadable" data (games, DLC) saved to microSD if available, or to the system's internal memory if not. USB hard drive support for the dock is "being researched" for potential future inclusion.

Regarding user accounts, each Switch will support up to eight users, with the ability to tie Nintendo Accounts in different regions to different users: "The user will access the Nintendo eShop that corresponds to the country identified in their Nintendo Account." This is similar to the handling of accounts on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, although Nintendo Accounts also allow the user to change their country.

Miis will also be returning, but the Mii Maker will be an option in the Settings menu instead of having a separate Mii Maker app on the system.

I'm still irritated that they are getting rid of Miiverse. Don't support the cesspool that is BIG SOCIAL MEDIA, Nintendo!

You'd hope with nVidia working on the system Hard Drives would be more than just researched. They're pretty well needed.

But 2TB SD cards are going to make having a hard rive not necessary in the later future.

Also of note Nintendo refused to answer questions about Virtual Console, our current VC libraries, connectivity with current Nintendo Accounts, how SNES online would work, and potential trophy/achievement system.

I also kinda like the sdxc support, with the reservation that those things get quite pricey above, say, 256 gb.

But hey, it's better than vita memory sticks, eh?
[Showing off game collection]

Oh yeah, I know I have 2 sealed copies of that game.   1 is for trading.  But people who collect Amiibos?  They really have a problem!

The price will go down. In the mean time we can still just buy multiple cards to suit our needs.

I heard a rumor that you have to set up your friends accounts through a smart phone. I still do not own a smart phone.

If you're playing the game on TV and decide to go mobile, it's going to be a problem if you're playing off the hard drive. Is the game doing the moving around in the background while you're playing it?

I think they'll be bringing that information Directly to us all before the end of February.

Remember when Wii U owners got 7 VC games for 30 cents each? (thanks to that deal I finally played Super Metroid)
I wonder if something similar is even a remote possibility for early Switch owners (as I cross my fingers)

Meaning I can change my region to Japan and buy their E-shop exclusives? COUNT ME IN!
Sometimes, you just want to play a video game.

I bought a 2TB hard drive at launch for my Wii U. I downloaded 63 regular games and 39 VC games and used less than 200GB.
New gen I'm assuming I'll use more so I'll want at least 256 GB maybe 500GB, but I've seen micro SD in both of those sizes. Plus if I get the 256GB then maybe I'll buy carts for the biggest games like Breath of the Wild and NBA 2K (On my Wii U NBA 2K13 was 25GB)

Im very glad save data is only stored on the internal memory. I nearly lost my Xenoblade X save when the hard drive on my Wii U stopped working for a while.

Can only play games that are on local (to the tablet) storage. "remote" storage could be used for the fridge. It should be an option. More options are always better.

There I saved them 100 man hours of "research"
