Hm, I've got a pretty sizable backlog of games too. I also have the tendency to go off topic.
Perhaps I do fit in here...  :o

Thats what the Backloggery is for!

It's weird--the MP2 multiplayer was an afterthought in the original release. But the new control scheme gives the multiplayer more viability. Still, I'd rather see Retro work on a new FPS with multiplayer battles than rework MP2's.

In general, I'm far less interested in replaying the second entry in the series--I just remember its light-dark structure being somewhat more tedious than the first or third.

I never played the 2nd one for more than a short bit because I never owned it. So I'm more interested in it. Though I will probably be picking up both since I sold my Gamecube copy of Prime 1.

A bit funny how the game was supposed to come out for the holidays. They delayed it to give it more breathing room and so they but it in February along with House of the Dead, Tenchu 4 and Deadly Creatures. This game is going to sell poorly.

This game got a 69... 6.9/10 from IGN: http://wii.ign.com/articles/956/956791p1.html

My official comment? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Terribly written review, I still don't know what the zombie AI is like, or how many zombies they did manage to fit on the screen. All it stated was that the 360 version is better visually.

Ironic considering he dings the game greatly for the bad dialogue. He didn't cover several of my concerns regarding the game. I'm still in the same on-the-fence position about it. I might rent it first.

Every time I play this scene gets me. Even when I remember to expect it.
Probably as good as the Licker scene from RE2 in the police station interrogation room.

I bought Prime 2 for a friend when the price dropped to $20
We played the multiplayer mode and got a few kicks. Everyone has the lock-on so it reduced a lot of challenge. There is some potential, though, Prime Hunters on DS proves thus.

I have NEVER played MP2 multiplayer, in fact I haven't played MP2 period even though I have it (It is still sealed).

Why do you still have it? Are you a sealed collector or just forgot about it?

I love this picture.

ANYWHO

I am really curious about Prime 2 how the new controls will impact the multiplayer. I would like it if they even added a little more like added levels or even online for it. I don't expect it to be very likely but it would be a nice addition. Maybe they will add it if the first one sells a lot.

I'd like to see Pikmin 2's multiplayer get a similar treatment as well.

I don't like Endless Ocean...

It is funny water levels in games like Mario 64, Zelda etc freak me out but Endless Ocean didn't bother me. I guess I wasn't worried about something jumping out at me (though I did tense up when I went down the trench in Endless Ocean).

I'm actually not bothered too much by water levels in other games, but Endless Ocean I keep thinking a shark will eat me for some reason.

Though I was haunted by crazy dreams about the Ocarina water temple. Actually there is a funny story about that because my dream predicted a part of Twilight Princess before Wind Waker came out.

I was doing a run through of Ocarina and got all turned around on the water temple and ended up spending hours on it. I finally gave up in the middle of the night and had a crazy dream where I was fighting Gannondorf. I was fighting him when he called his horse and tried to run me over. Epona broke through the door and Gannon and myself had a mounted sword duel. I ended up killing his horse and he got mad and killed Epona. I then woke up all traumatized because my horse had died. A lot of it played out similar to Twilight Princess' final boss fights where you were using your horse.
Strangely I saw nothing to do with the water temple even though it was that level's frustration that probably caused the dream.

I'm concerned that this thread is turning into yet another discussion on ports from X to Wii instead of about Metroid Prime on Wii.

Oh, wow, I'm sorry. It didn't even click to me how far off topic we went. I think I forgot that this was the talk back for the Prime preview.

*RANDOMLY JUMPING BACK IN THE ON TOPIC TRAIN*

Do we know yet when this is coming to the States?

Derailing threads is a NWR tradition! ;)

I'm actually more bothered because I have just been responding through the 'show replies to your posts' link and completely forgot that this was the Prime preview. I thought it was one of the Dead Rising/Space threads.

@ThePerm
Is that the Sleepy Hollow that Jonny Depp was in? I think it came out in the mid-to-late 90's.

This is now a thread about good, non-Disney, domestic animated feature films.

The Contenders:
Fire and Ice
Secret of Nimh
An American Tale
All Dogs go to Heaven
Land Before Time
Iron Giant
Shrek 1
Kung Fu Panda

What say you, NWR??
You forgot Anastasia. One of my friends that is a huge Disney fan actually thought that was a Disney movie. A lot of people thought that.

Secret of Nimh is a favorite of mine, i read the book too

and Land before Time
did anyone else Turn around and see Land Before Time VIII at the store and think "well now i remember there being a part II, but VIII?!! now their getting into final fantasy numbers where were the other VI! Now their on XIV!

I remember loving the first one. It was worked on by both George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. Then the second one came out and less than five minuets in they bust into an awkward song. I just walked away. I don't think they number them anymore. There are also sing-a-long shows and a television series. My little-little sister gets them at the library to watch.

What's really scary in the water is stuff like box jellyfish.  A creature big enough to squish or eat you without a thought, even on accident, is one thing.  A creature too stupid not to kill you is something else entirely.

I went through a jellyfish scare phase as well when I got stung by one at a young age.

But don't the big ones not go anywhere near the surface?

LOL
Deadly Creatures: Jellyfish - "Use the Wii's unique motion controls to float along and catch things in your path"...starts humming the Float On song...

I'm not as worried about zombie count as I am concerning zombie brain-cell count. If they turn out to be as dead weight in the final game as they are in current previews and videos then I may stay away from the mall that day.

Honestly, I am too after playing Onslaught oddly enough. It feels very arcade like and struck me as an 'off-rails shooter'. It made me very excited at the possibilities Extraction has as a genre pushing rail-shooter.

Will Stratos play with me if I buy Onslaught?  ???

It would be my pleasure :)
Just let me know when. My current job finished winding down so I have a lot of time on my hands (hence my very frequent posting runs).

Demos also affect initial previews of certain games. For example, remember when the NWR kept bitching about Twilight Princess because of the unfinished demo? Even they claim that the demo is based on a work in progress version if its sour it can scare potential consumers away.

The demo pushed me away from Star Wars Empire @ War. It was so plain and barren.

I hate being far out in water where I know there are sharks. I have that unnatural queasiness around certain water spots too.
I also used to get scared of those big fish that hide in the sand and eat things that step on them. I used to imagine giant ones swallowing me when I went out in the water in Florida with my cousins.

You don't get pushed down in the rankings unless people beat your highscore (I think), it just tracks scores for 2, 3 and 4 player games separately so you may have been looking at different lists.

That would explain my abrupt drop to the mid-200s.

A whole lot more than the Physics and Euphoria engine were cut from that game.
I played the 360 build at a friends house first and then a week later a Wii owning friend rented it and I played it with him. The difference was shocking to say the least. Even the menus for getting powers are vastly different.

I think a lot has to do with the developer's and publisher's goals. Are they just trying to make a financially cheap, watered-down port by trying to squeeze as much of the HD game into a Wii disk? Or rather are they adjusting to the Wii's strengths and weakness' in the case of Overlord? How they decide to go about making the Wii edition will determine what comes out of it.
Soul Calibur 4, RE 5, Prince of Persia and any number of other HD only games could flourish on the Wii as well. There are feasible engines from previous games on Gamecube and Wii that could be used as a basis for making successful Wii games.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: People want a Majora's Mask 2? It's already here
« on: February 24, 2009, 04:56:31 PM »
The masks are inseparable from the dungeons and sidequests.  They made everything better, like butter.

Ya your right. Still, it's worth mentioning.

I feel like MM was the real 3D Zelda. I'm not sure why, but while OOT was phenomenal, it really didn't feel as fresh as MM did and MM came after it.

Ooooooh can you imagine if MM was made first?

I think Ocarina didn't feel as fresh because it it really a glorified 3-D remake of Link to the Past

My brain can't wrap around the idea of Majora first so someone else may have to brainstorm there. All I can imagine is Majora sequels. Or it could have been so different that people would have rebelled and hated the game.

My nostalgia monster says both PH and Majora's Mask need to fade away.
And as much fun as it might seem to have a new version or sequel, I suspect that's my own "nostalgia monster" playing a trick on me;

I challenge you guys to a Nostalgia-Mon battle! Super Mario Bros. 3, Go! Tanookie suite attack, now!
