Post by: Pale on December 20, 2006, 05:10:27 AM
North American Pokefreaks can get their hands on the games on April 22 of next year.  Pokemon themed styluses will be handed out to those who pre-order.

New Pokemon to Make Diamond-and-Pearl-Studded Debut

Gotta Catch 'Em All! The Next Generation of Pokemon Soon Will Be Here

REDMOND, Wash., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Pokemon trainers of the world,   unite!  How else will you manage to complete your Pokedex and challenge the   sinister plot of Team Galactic?  On April 22, Pokemon(R) Diamond and   Pokemon(R) Pearl, the Pokemon series for the best-selling Nintendo DS(TM) game   system, become available in the Americas.  These two titles represent the   latest adventure in the popular Pokemon franchise.

Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl offer a number of exciting new features   to please both experienced and new Pokemon fans alike.  Set in an entirely new   region called "Sinnoh," players can choose to begin their adventure as either   a boy or girl Pokemon trainer on a path to becoming Pokemon League Champion.    The adventure continues as players can bring Pokemon from their Game Boy(R)   Advance Pokemon games to Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl using the GBA game   slot on their Nintendo DS.

As players trade and collect Pokemon to complete their Pokedex in this new   challenge, for the first time they'll have the chance to catch new Pokemon,   Munchlax(TM) and Weavile(TM).  They also can play via local wireless with up   to eight other trainers while new moves and abilities deepen strategy.

"After recently celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Pokemon franchise   continues to get stronger," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior   vice president of marketing and corporate communications.  "These two new   titles represent the best that Pokemon has to offer, and a great opportunity   for Game Boy users to upgrade to Nintendo DS."

Unique pre-sell styluses featuring new Pokemon from the new series will be   available by reserving the game early at participating retailers.  Stay tuned   for more details about this special offer.  Pokemon games continue to be   wildly popular around the world, with more than 155 million units sold   worldwide through September 2006.  Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl are   currently shattering sales records in Japan since their September launch.

Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl for Nintendo DS will be available  April 22, and are Rated E for Everyone.

My brother, the Pokemon nut, has his birthday on April 18.  It's annoying that this date JUST barely doesn't fit with it.  Maybe he'll be getting an "I.O.U. one Pokemon game" note.

I have not played PokeMon Since Gold/Silver, but PokeMon + Online = Awesomeness so count me in on making a comeback.

Beware kids, I am an Original PokeMon Red for the Original GameBoy player (you don't even know what that is son) and I don't play around so you better be ready.  J/K lol :P  I will be making a comeback though thanks to this game.

I just made a topic yesterday about the proper spacing of "Game Boy" and the spelling and pronounciation of "Pokémon"!  How could you?!

I can't believe the franchise is 10 years old (eight in North America).  I was starting university when Pokémon made its debut, needless to say I got a lot of stares and confused looks when I discussed my desire to catch them all.  Anyone starting Grade 1 back then would be in Grade 9 now, their last year of junior high!  o_0

I can still depend on my brother to help me get all the Pokémon at least.  But there's, what, soon going to be something like 493 of them with D/P?  What, they couldn't think up seven (or eight) more?

Don't you mean first year of high school? For the majority of the country, 9th grade is the beginning of high school.

I haven't played a Pokemon game since Ruby (and I didn't enjoy it that much), but I am excited about these two (and will probably get Diamond). I don't know if I will get the expanded version Nintendo will release in about 2 years.

April 22? Nooooooooo, I haven't played a Pokemon game since Blue (on emulator lol), what are they thinking, so that would mean we aren't getting Pokemon Battle Revolution anytime soon, damn.

"Not in Alberta"

Or in BC.  High school is Grades 8-12.  I think that's like that everywhere in Canada.  We also only refer to grades by number and never use terms like "freshman" or "sophomore".  In fact I only have a vague idea what those terms even refer to.  Same with college.  You say you're in your first year, second year, etc.  Also no one cares that much about college since most people go somewhere in their local area and no one cares about college sports aside from people attending the college itself.  But that makes sense since hockey is clearly the number one sport and pro hockey players often skip college altogether and join the NHL when they're 18.

Oh, well I have no idea how the education system in Canada works.

Here in the US, most high schools (not all) are 9th-12th grades. Freshman is 9th grade, Sophmore is 10th grade, Junior is 11th grade and Senior is 12th grade.

Woo just after my birthday (no i'm not Ians brother). I'm hoping Aus gets it at the same time as the US like most DS / Pokemon games. If Pokemon Battle Revolution comes out on the same day it'll be the biggest day ever.

In Ontario it's 9-12 (at least in the Public Board).

In Quebec it does not work like that.

It goes like this

Kindergaden
Elementary School (1 to 6)
High School (1 to 5)
CEGEP (3 years if you end there, 2 if you proceed to university)
University ( number of years depends on your "partying" level... )

I moved from Vancouiver, B.C. Canada after 6th grade so technically I never "graduated" elementary since in California, USA I was deposited right into the belly of so-called "Middle School." Yeah.

I actually recall reading somewhere that each part of Canada can decide how it does its school system. Freaky! At this point, I can't imagine 5 years of High School anymore!

In germany it's
Grundschule (1-4)
and

Hauptschule (-9)
or
Realschule (-10)
or
Gymnasium (-13)

With the latter two you can follow up with
Fachhochschule (BA, MA)
or University (BA, MA)
