TalkBack / Re: The State of Your Wii
« on: August 18, 2012, 09:04:00 PM »
Mine is also a launch day purchase. I didn't pre-order it like everyone else did. I went from store to store to see if they had any for general release. All the stores I went to only had pre-order quantities except one; Toys R Us. I ended up being the second in a line of about 30 people and the first to purchase a Wii at that store.

I only use mine to watch Netflix and only play Virtual Console games every blue moon. I like using the Wii for Netflix due to the remote-like quality of the Wii-mote.

It functions just fine for me with one exception. Once every few months the Wii refuses to shut down when asked to shut down. It goes black and just doesn't shut off. I have to unplug it to get it to do anything further. It's not a big deal since it doesn't happen very often. Other than that, thumbs up.

I had the same problem with the 3 little pigs video. It's definitely much better today. I would also like to see more 3D game trailers appear on the service. I'm not a fan of having to download the trailers only to have to delete them later.

I am ecstatic about this. 2011 is the year of the free game. Thanks Sony and Nintendo!

Can anyone tell me the difference between the versions of Yoshi's Island everyone seems to be talking about? What did the original have that the GBA version did not have?

Additionally, all the money one spends on used games at GameStop goes directly to GameStop; not a single penny goes to the developer or publisher. That copy of Uncharted 2 you bought used for $55? Naughty Dog doesn’t see a dime of that. Shouldn’t they see a dime? They did a really good job with that game. GameStop is basically taking that hard-earned dime.
I get that buying a used copy for the same or slightly less of the price of a new copy cheats the developer. It makes no sense why Gamestop charges so much for used copies. But why should the developer/publisher be paid multiple times for the one copy of the game? We don't do that for DVD/Blu-rays or music CDs, why video games?

Did anyone else have trouble trying to get out of the app? I hit the home button but it wouldnt let me get out. I even tried to shut the 3DS down and still nothing. It finally shut down after about a minute. I was worried there for a second that I may have messed something up but everything seems fine after I turned it back on. I wish there was a soft reset of the system when you run into things like that.

This is pretty sweet. I too wasn't expecting this till the end of summer. I do hope they have a healthy amount of 3D movies (crossing my fingers for trailers). I can't afford a TV that's 3D capable and I really don't want to buy the glasses.

Might as well officially introduce myself. I'm Dremmy. Long time reader, first time poster. I'm from Nashville, TN. My favorite game genres are platformers, puzzle games (more like Portal, less like Bejeweled), and adventure games. Fav game is Chronotrigger. I usually post at RPGamer and the Frank Cho message boards. I have every system available today except any of the PS portable systems. Been visiting the site since it was Planet Gamecube. I liked that there was a place with Nintendo-centric topics. Nintendo.com just isn't as fan friendly as I think it should be. So here I am. Look forward to contributing more to the forums.

You actually don't have to close out of the app to get all 3 pokemon to show up. Once you see the blue dot and get your first pokemon of the day, you can just close the 3DS with the app still running and open it again. It will show a message on the upper right hand corner of the bottom screen that you have a new pokemon delivered to you. You could also leave the app running for consecutive days and just open and close the 3DS three times a day to get your pokemon. I'm not sure what time of day they start delivering the pokemon to you. I usually wait until after work to get mine, which is after 4pm.
