Episode 6: Jeopardy Returns!
« on: October 29, 2011, 07:03:12 PM »

News, Super Mario 3D Land impressions from Daan Koopman, and Pedro "Nintendo Genius" Hernandez joins the crew for Jeopardy this week.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/connectivity/28269

Hello! This week's episode of Connectivity kicks off with Andy, Mike, and Scott discussing all the information released by Nintendo late last week, a great deal of which is related to the 3DS. Andy also goes into total bummer mode while talking about Nintendo's largest net loss in history.

From there, sights turn towards one of the games that may just help spur 3DS sales this year: Super Mario 3D Land. Daan Koopman recently got to play through the entire game, and he joins Scott to discuss some of its unrevealed elements to this point as well as how it feels on the handheld system.

Closing the show out is our second episode of NWR Connectivity. Neal and Scott host the show as Andy, Mike, Zach and Pedro fight tooth and nail for all those coveted NWR Bucks.

As always, you can send us mail here. Thanks for listening!

When will you be answering emails again?
I'm a staff writer here at good ol' Nintendo World Report, but I also have a Nintendo website at www.nintendogamerthoughts.com

We answer emails during the news segment as we get them, as you'll see in this week's episode. So send them in!

Is there any more to it than that?  I sent an email in shortly after episode 3 and there hasn't been any response to it.  If that's the only criteria, then there might be something wrong with the web form.

Hmm, well in that case we may have just overlooked it. Send it in again and we'll definitely read it.

I agree.

Also, I also think it's best to keep Sony and Microsoft talks to a minimum.  I like having Nintendo Jeopardy instead of more Xbox 360 and PS3 discussions filling up the air.  There's PLENTY of that on most other podcasts (it seems that Nintendo isn't a popular subject elsewhere).

I don't disagree, and we'll always bee a Nintendo site and a Nintendo podcast first and foremost.  That said, it's important to remember that Nintendo does live within an ecosystem that consists of competing products, and when there is news about how that ecosystem is affected by Nintendo and vice versa, I think we will always talk about that as well.

I'm glad you guys like the new format and the Jeopardy segment in particular.  They're an absolute blast to record, and it's something that can definitely lend itself to user-interaction.  Keep your eyes posted, there will be ways to get involved soon.

I liked the Jeopardy segment, but my favourite was the segment related to Super Mario 3d Land. It was cool to hear somebody who actually completed the full game discussing this highly anticipated title. Worldwide coverage is a strenght of this site, and I really think this podcast is very innovative because it makes great use of all the correspondents you have all around the world! I also lovedthe discussion about the Zelda anniversary concert in Tokyo in the last episode... Thanks guys!

I agree with Andy. While we are a Nintendo site 100%, it would be hard to not mention how the presence of these competitors affects Nintendo's own presence. Also, if we decide to ignore what the other companies are doing we would risk being like other sites and podcasts where they dismiss whatever Nintendo does, and as you guys can clearly see, we want to avoid that in these things.

"My wife looks like Power Girl"

"Is Boobs a Category?"
"No"
"AWWWWW"

Signs of a quality Podcast.  :D

Pedro Blitzed the entire field. Well done.  :cool;

I am pretty cool with all the random talk, just be careful with spoilers when it comes to TV shows and the like. Almost blundered into Doctor Who spoilers a couple episodes ago.

It's the main Podcast that is a little heavy with other systems talk, but Drew's point still stands. Also it's probably due to system ownership, but there is surprising lack of PC talk relative to PS/360. There was that mention of Mount and Blade quite a while ago, but it got glossed over very quickly.

At the time--no joke--I was looking through pictures of PeeGee on Deviantart. Most was shitty.

Fun episode all around. Including individual sound effects on the Jeopardy! for each player was a really nice touch, too.

Thanks! Yeah, last time people said it was kind of hard to follow who was getting picked, so I figured the sound effects would help, even though I actually added them in post. We didn't use them when recording.
