The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask may be getting a 3D remake for the 3DS.

A post on Zelda Informer reveals the Spanish online gaming store Xtralife had listed Majora's Mask 3D. The timing of the posting may offer some support for the rumor. A similar reveal happened to Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D before a Nintendo Direct and the next Nintendo Direct is scheduled for tomorrow.

Though the page was registered a while ago, Xtralife has been right before, listing the 32 GB Nexus 7 three weeks before its announcement.

Between that, the listing being up since the day before Spanish April Fools Day, and the promise of an original Zelda before the next remake (which should be Link to the Past)... yeah, this is bunk.

Oy, I have been trying to shut this down at Zelda Informer. This site "guessing" the 32GB Nexus 7 was like posting that Apple will unveil a new iPhone. The Nexus 7 already had 8GB and 16GB models, and there were already rumors of a 32GB model.

And do people really think Nintendo will release 2 Zelda re-makes in a 3 month period? I would not put much faith in this Xtralife site and the rumor. And I find it funny that there is no link to the actual page on Xtralife where its listed.

And I am not even gonna mention how bad MM is, and why it doesn't deserve a re-make.

If true, this would make me very happy, indeed. I adore Majora's Mask and would gladly pay to have a 3D enhanced version a la the recent Ocarina of Time remake. That moon is going to look so sick in 3D!

Why not? They would be on different platforms so it's not like one would necessarily cut into the sales of the other. Maybe it would if the same remake was released on both platforms. Really, this would be no different than Nintendo releasing any two games between Wii U and 3DS. I mean, I don't believe this rumor, but I don't think releasing two remakes so close to each other means anything. Nintendo just does whatever it feels like anyway.

Saying you're not going to mention something is, in fact, mentioning it. You should put that page back into Ian's book. Just because you don't like something, doesn't mean it shouldn't exist for other people to enjoy.

MM may not be "bad" on its own merits, but it IS bad as a Zelda installment. It would have been brilliant if it were released as a stand alone game with original characters, but as part of the Zelda series, it didn't work and definitely doesn't deserve the same remake treatment OoT got.

Funny. It's one of my favorite Zelda games and reminds me a lot of Link's Awakening (which is my all-time favorite Zelda game).

For as much crap as Nintendo gets for rehashing the same ideas, they sure do get a lot of crap when they try something different (Zelda II, Majora's Mask...)

Even Zelda II deserved the "Zelda" name by using the basic overworld+dungeon formula. The only thing "Zelda" about Majora's Mask was that it was built-off the OoT engine. It was a brilliant idea, but didn't deserve the "Zelda" name-- because it was more of its own game. Basically, MM is to Zelda as Starfox Adventures was to Starfox.

I want a completely revamped Zelda game. The comparison between SFA and MM is unfair because SFA is a bad game.

C'mon, SFA was NOT a bad game its own-- it would have been an instant classic if it had been released as "Dinosaur Planet". Trying to make it into a Starfox installment is what ruined it.

And again, I don't have any problem with MM-- I love it by itself-- but it's just not deserving of the same treatment that OoT got. ALttP, on the other hand IS deserving.

I think it's just two different groups of fans that want different things. I get this with my brother and I. I want series to evolve and introduce new concepts with each game. When he finds a gameplay formula he likes he just wants more content for it, like he effectively just wants more levels. Expansion packs and DLC are perfect for him because that is all he wants out of a sequel.

Though a flaw in his logic is that usually the gameplay he wants milked is rarely the original design. He wants more Super Mario World, not more Super Mario Bros. but if Nintendo didn't take my preferred approach to sequels the series would never have evolved into Super Mario World in the first place. Though his response to that is that one should evolve merely until they perfect the formula and then milk it, but then who decides when it's "perfect"?
