Nintendo Gaming / Heroes Of Ruin
« on: July 29, 2012, 11:07:53 AM »
I just got this just days ago and I think it's got a lot of great charm to it. I've been excited for this game since I first announced, I never got over the fact that Gauntlet never came out for the DS and this delivers the same experience. I think the camera view and the navigation is a lot like GTA: Chinatown Wars which I enjoyed. The NWR review doesn't mention it, but the sound is done very nicely by changing the channel of sounds in the dungeon (ex: running water) depending on which way your character is facing and the music is not terrible to hear, but nothing to write home.

I haven't played online, but I did link my game to the website for Experience Points and I noticed they have a list of Daily and Weekly Challenges, but as of right now everyone is having issues getting them to load up. I can't wait for all that to be sorted out.

So have you picked it up!?

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Video
« on: July 27, 2011, 08:00:08 AM »
Nintendo Video launched last week and gave us One Teaser video about the service, One movie trailer (Captain America) and two videos of original content Sunday Jog and Dinosaur Office. The service is supposed to just drop new content whenever and that means an older video will be replaced and once it's gone it's gone. I thought we can keep track of how well this feature is a blessing and a curse.
Opening my 3DS this morning I noticed that new content was added to the channel fearing the worst. I've watched Dinosaur Office about ten times already, I don't think it's hilarious, but I do find it funny around the 1:27 mark. I also like the Captain America trailer, but the other two videos I don't care for. Sunday Jog and the preview for Nintendo Video are just bland and I fear more of that on the way.
Anyway the Captain America trailer is gone and it's been replaced with the trailer or The Smurfs trailer. I wonder how often will new content be uploaded and curious if more movie trailers and ads will be available than original content. It would be cool to see something with continuity being uploaded, maybe a mini series or something. We can see game trailers in the eShop so I wonder if they will stay there or if we'll see some come to the channel.
My overall impression is that it can go either way and I hope that Nintendo learned something from launching the Nintendo Channel on the Wii. But with lots of obvious gripes about the lack of Youtube support it seems like they haven't. I'd really like to see the Mortal Kombat Legacy series on the 3DS.

Edit: Something's I'd like are the ability to rate videos and to save them to a Favorites list. That way you can save videos you like. Also real 3D videos. So far only the movie trailers benefited from being in 3D and while you could see al the videos with the 3D off I'd like to see 3D content specifically. I'd like it to not be cheap either as is the case with all the videos so far. None of the videos or movie trailers needed to be viewed in 3D and I'd like something to be dedicated to the media form.
the ability to Like the video content just posts an icon with a link to your Facebook profile. Your friends can't see the video and get little explanation about what the content really is. The link takes you to Nintendo's website where again you can't see any videos and it feels static. If the videos can be watched in 2D then they should at least be presented online for everyone to see.

NWR Forums Discord / Metroid Played in Chronological Order
« on: December 19, 2008, 12:06:00 AM »
I've recently been reviewing Metroid in my head and I want to play the series in the order of the story line. I've always been a fan of Metroid, but never until now have I ever been to owning the whole series!
I own the NES Metroid andSuper Metroid on VC and I'm playing through Prime 3. The other day I got Fusion and Zero Mission from a friend so all that leaves is Metroid II which I have an ok chance of finding around town and Prime Hunters is every. All I would really have to do is wait for the first two Prime games to be released for the Wii or just play the Gamecube versions if they don't come any time this year.

So I have some questions about this whole thing:

Are all the Metroid games interconnected by a story line?
Since Zero Mission is a remake of the NES game is it alright to skip the original and play ZM and move onto the next game?
I didn't like Prime Hunters would I really have to play it?
Should I stop playing Prime 3 now and pick it up when I reach its point in the story?
Has any one done this before?

Nintendo Gaming / My Town Needs Trees Planted In December!!
« on: December 04, 2008, 08:21:32 PM »
The psychic told me that three people had to plant trees in my town this month. I have some free time as of tonight and most of tomorrow so if anyone wants to drop by and help me out let me know and I'll open my gates. I would prefer a fruit tree if possible I have oranges and coconuts.
Tonight I'll be fishing with my gates open, I got some new Mario items too. I swear I'll help you in your monthly task too!!
PM if my gates aren't open or you want be added.

Nintendo Gaming / Korg DS-10
« on: May 04, 2008, 02:42:17 AM »
I've been watching this for months and I'm surprised no one's made any mention of it. AQ has developed a Korg-10 synthesizer for the DS and it's really cool and easily blows the other music or sound applications like Jam Sessions and Electroplankton away as a stand alone app.
It was announced to be released in Japan but was recently announced for a worldwide release. I'm pretty sure I will have to do a bit of hunting once an US version is out, but in the meantime I'm pretty interested about it because yes I jack my DS into amps and effect pedals and I make games and other things sound cool  8)

Nintendo Gaming / Drawn to Life coming to the Wii
« on: February 05, 2008, 11:55:55 AM »
I just read in Gamasutra that THQ is planning a to bring Drawn to Life to the Wii! This is great news, I have Drawn to Life and it's a really good game to play. Drawing the objects for stages was great with the stylus and on the Wii remote it could only be better. I only wonder if they're just going to bring over the whole DS game or make a new game altogether. I can't wait for more news on this!!

Nintendo Gaming / Assassin's Creed for DS in Feb!
« on: January 14, 2008, 02:48:01 PM »
I've never played it, but I liked the ads I've seen for it and it's coming for the DS and not the Wii? Odd, but okay... I think it could be a little Tenchu and Phantom Hourglass-ish, but better than both because neither were that good to play. I doubt that Assassin's Creed will be super amazing, but it could be fun.
