Not sure what to think about this.

I really enjoyed Monster Hunter Tri (Wii) but kind of burned out on the game after a couple of hundred hours and haven't been able to reignite a passion for the online mode - despite the fact that more in-game content is available if I want to pursue it.

A portable entry does have me interested, but "all the content from Tri" sounds like I'll be repeating a lot of work from the previous game. Then again, didn't the review hint at interacting with a different system? Maybe there is a way to carry over your character data from the Wii vesion? Not sure how that would work unless hooks were programmed in for data export, but maybe Capcom was thinking ahead on this one?

I'll probably buy 3G either way, but my actual excitement level will depend on how much new content is present.

This is good news, its a great game and one that should create huge momentum for the 3DS, the scans looks really nice, am not the biggest monster hunter fan, but hell anything that gives steam to the 3ds am all for it, now the second analog stick for the 3ds it uncalled for, the thing looks plain ugly and am sure nintendo is already working on a new version of the 3ds, but for all of us with the current one we are stuck with half completed system.

Plesioth will be an Underwater battle.
Azure Rathlos is confirmed. That is a sub species of Rathlos.
Cherry Bloslum Rathian is confirmed. Sub species of Rathian.
Lagiacrus, Ceadus and Gobul are back.
Moga village is back for offline.
New town called Tanjia port.

Iwonder if Jehn and Jho will be in the game? If Capcom takes the newer monsters from Portable three and enhances the quality of Tri then I might get this game. Will the online allow players such as myself, Maxi and Mop to play together like the Wii game?

At this point it really isn't known about most monsters or about the online. Maybe TGS will have more details.
If I come across anything I'll post it but for now lets talk about what is known.

I would assume at this point everyone from Tri will be back.

Looks like the bowguns will be streamlined down to light and heavy bowguns but there will be some additions to those that will add more to the game. Also looks like there will be 3D support but it won't be the main focus.

If the game's anything like Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, it will have half old content and half new content. The only way I'd be interested in another game in this series is if it were a new entry, and probably only if it fixed some of the issues I have with the game. I'd also want it on a console, which likely means the Wii U.

Urukususu video. Urukususu was in portable 3rd so there is a high chance of getting portable 3rd monsters in here in the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUnhO4tOiQ0&feature=player_embedded

That scan is from the most recent issue of Official Nintendo Magazine. As you can see at the bottom it has an Autumn 2012 ETA. So based on this there is a possiblity that this will see release in Europe at that time.

Oh also here is some videos.

First video goes over the controls and how the touch screen is used for items and it also shows how the camera works. Second video shows of the monsters and various weapons and armor.

So when Japan will be getting Monster Hunter 4 more then likely Europe will be getting 3G...

Maybe Ceric. Generally speaking it usually takes longer for Monster Hunter games to make it out to the western world. I think portable 3rd was released in Japan December 1st 2010 and Tri came out in Japan August 1st 2009 and Tri came out in the states April 20th 2010 so that is 8 months between release so it shouldn't be that long of a wait if it comes out here. I think Monster Hunter 4 will come out in Japan after Tri G is out in the western world. The new entries tend to take longer to make then the G versions and portable games.

http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/data/explanation.html (http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/data/explanation.html)
From the QA summary:

Q:  What are your overseas plans for “Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G”?
A:  Our stance for the overseas distribution of this title is the same as for the entire “Monster Hunter” series. We are selling the preceding title “Monster Hunter Tri” overseas so we will consider launching this title overseas, too. But no decision has been reached yet.

Q:  Please explain why you selected the Nintendo 3DS as the platform for “Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G”.
A:  First, we believe that using the Nintendo 3DS will allow us to offer new types of expressions, game play action and enjoyment for the “Monster Hunter” series, which has attracted a broader range of user segments. In addition, we selected this platform with the goal of reaching a diverse spectrum of customer segments, including current users of the “Monster Hunter” series as well as people who have portable game consoles.

My (overly optimistic) interpretation: Monster Hunter 3 G released in North America by the middle of next year!  I'd rather have 4 but beggars can't be choosers.

I think the MH fanbase is pretty much resigned to us being skipped for Tri G and getting MH4.  Though a lot of MH Fanbase want to kill Iwata because he said he thought that MH was Niche pretty much.  Which was interpretted as him refusing to allow MH3G to be translated.

Monster Hunter is absolutely a niche thing outside of Japan, though. I don't see how you could argue against that.

If this line is even true of the first remake of the game, that one never released outside of Japan. And that was on the PSP, where there were other Monster Hunter games released outside Japan so fans of the series had a PSP. Since there are no established fans who own a 3DS, I don't see it happening.

This series seems like the kind of thing that I'd much prefer on a handheld than a console, so I'm definitely looking forward to Monster Hunter 4. I doubt I'd buy 3G, since I wouldn't buy both and if I were only buying one I'd definitely wait for the almost certainly superior new version.

I take it you're not interested in online play then?

I'll bet MH4, at least the Western release, will do online play. But I would take a handheld version with no online over a console version with it, if those were my only choices.

I am kinda curious why you want this series on a handheld over a console Insanolord? Have you played Tri before?

Anything that's this much of a time sink is something I'd rather have on a handheld (or PC), largely because I'm usually in a position of sharing a TV with my roommates so I don't want to hog it, and because I like having the portability, even if I'll just play it in another room in my house/apartment.

I'm also excited about playing the franchise on a portable system - in fact I almost bought a PSP Go just to have portable Monster Hunter. While having a big screen lets you really enjoy the beauty of Monster Hunter, being able to play anywhere/anytime is very appealing to me.

Got 30 minutes at lunch? Just enough time to carve out for a few spare parts, mine resources, or dig for charms. Business trip or flight coming up? Take your grinding on go! Wife watching her favorite testosterone-sapping show this evening? Keep your manliness intact by taking down your very own Deviljho without having to leave the room.

If I have suspend options that allow me to pause single-player hunts to deal with real life matters and then jump back in afterwards, all the better.

But the biggest draw of the Monster Hunter series is the online play, and since the 3DS doesn't have 3G or whatever then you can't really play online on the go unless you're going to a place with free Wi-Fi access. So what's the point of having a portable game that you can only make the most of at home?
Title: Re: Monster Hunter Tri G for the 3DS confirmed

Because the biggest base for Monster Hunter is in Japan, where people actually went out of their way to get together and play the PSP games via ad-hoc. The PSP games have vastly outsold the PS2 versions AFAIK.

As I said in my post, I'd like the ability to play it without hogging the TV and to be able to play it in different parts of the house without all the hassle of moving the console.

If I had the choice of having the same exact game either on a console or a handheld, 9 times out of 10 I'd take the handheld version.

I have to agree with are local Messiah here.
All things being equal if I had to choose between the exact same game being portable or on the console I choice Portable most of the time.  Just sooo much easier.

Ah, I didn't think about that because I don't share a TV with anyone. If you don't have your own TV then yeah, that makes some sense.

Because it's free. Plus the game has quite a few new and different monsters. That was my biggest complaint with Tri: the limited variety. Previews actually have me interested enough that I'd give MH3.5 a shot.

Seems like this wiki outlines most of the known differences between Tri and 3G.

I'd rather have a whole new game... but making Monster Hunter Tri portable while adding new monsters/weapons/areas should let me wring out at least another 40 hours of enjoyment - more if online play gets added for North America.

I wouldn't hope for online being added if I were any of you. This game doesn't have anywhere near the sales potential of the Japanese game, so it just wouldn't be worth setting up servers. It may not even be as simple as that. They would also have to program in some sort of online lobby, along with setting up online quests and a ranking system. They also might have to do something to make the game able to handle lag, but I'm not sure on that. There could be other stuff too.

With MH4 in the pipeline, I just don't see CapCom putting extra effort into other region releases of this game when there's nothing to gain from it.

LOL, clearly you didn't notice my sarcasm. I tried to point that out by the whole new Pokemon game that is DS and not 3DS. Cause that makes so much sense Nintendo. Why would you want to put a system seller like Pokemon on 3DS. That would be crazy...

2 cents: really hoping this game hits the states with free online.

If so, I'll be right there with you all.  Otherwise.... I'll be waiting for MH4 and the hopes of free online will begin anew!
