I have played all the Image and Form games except Tower Defense, which I have on 3DS Virtual Console backlog and Build, for which I am waiting on the physical version. I have really enjoyed them all and will probably pick up any of their games until I encounter one I don't like. Personally, I admire their innovative approach to changing genres and look forward to them tackling a new one more than a sequel, but also Dig 2 is one of my favorites so I don't think you can go wrong, unless of course you go on discord and complain about games you are not getting  ;).

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown (Xbox One):

Great game. Great bosses, fun movement, simple but deep enough combat, big map with all kinds different locations and challenges -- combat, platforming, puzzles, puzzle platforming (think Speed Booster rooms in Metroid games). Before game released they spent a lot promoting game's in-game screenshot system which is probably the first to be used in metroidvania, but i remembered screenshots placed on a map in Assassin's Creed or even in some of the Wii U games. But it's more useful here to remember marked places to explore later, just so you can easier understand what to do visually.

I found had to put some abilities from triggers to other buttons so i can press them in quicker succession for some of the puzzles (triggers on mine Xbox controller got somewhat sticky). Also, neutral dodge off the wall when main character jumps off the wall when you just press dodge button without direction was kinda annoying especially during challenges like Impossible Climb when you had to spend a lot of time hanging on a wall.

Some of the rooms and locations looked fantastic with great backgrounds:

Map design also has cohesive design that intuitively shows the player that there is a checkpoint or a map selling NPC nearby. At first, I never bought any of the maps and explored by myself, but for 100% had to go for a map sweep to look for map sellers all over again. Usually i was only missing one of two treasures on each segments of the map hidden behind fake walls. The only puzzle room i couldn't figure out and had to look up was 2 crushing blocks in Eternal Sands and it was kinda BS -- i spent more than an hour trying all kinds of abilities in this room trying to stop the blocks -- occasionally even glitching the game but the solution was that i needed to bring an enemy from literally across the map. I guess i should have got the hint from the background.

Speaking of glitches -- when fighting a boss, i somehow got warped outside of the arena and game just gave me an achievement for beating it. Because the boss was so cool -- i had to reload from latest checkpoint to redo the boss proper -- regretted it a bit because the boss was actually really tough -- still very fun.

There were also some minor bugs like showing me loot i have already picked up like i didn't, but nothing major or preventing me from 100%-ing the file. My game is now at 99% and the last thing i need to do is to upgrade some of my amulets to full levels but i kinda ran out of crystals currency and don't feel like grinding -- probably would only take me 10 minutes or so, but don't care enough for now. Maybe later, if Ubisoft releases story DLC or something...

Overall, a really great game -- highly recommended.

The thing is, they released an extemely and obviously flawed product and it was profitable for them. Why? Because of the huge masses of people that jump on the hot new thing even if that thing is trash. You buying stuff like this sight unseen is what enables this sort of thing to continue happening. Yes, what they did was scummy, but don't ignore the fact that they could rely on people like you buying it in massive numbers no matter how bad the thing they released is.

:(

Care to elaborate? Were you expecting something like Silksong or just didn't like what was shown?

I was hoping for pizza tower on the switch. I was prepared to rebuy it to support tour de pizza. Plus pizza tower is one of the best games ever made.

I’m a big Image and Form dude in general. I loved Dig 1 and 2 and I’d love to play Tower Defense in some capacity, but I think Heist was the first of their games to fully embrace all elements of game design and create something super special. I like Quest, but not as much as Heist, and I’m genuinely curious about Build but it’s a bit too rich for my blood. Wondering if Heist 2 will be priced similarly, as it does seem greatly expanded from the first game.

Yeah this is pretty much my thought on the two series.  The first Dig game was good, the second was great, but Heist was amazing.  Plus Steamworld Dig 2 came out two years after Heist came out, so it's only fair that Heist should get a sequel first.  Especially when the Metroidvania genre is much more oversaturated genre in indie gaming, so Dig fans have more to keep them happy, while Heist fans have a lot less to choose from.

For the rest of the Indie World, I'm very much looking forward to Anton Blast.  Since Nintendo hasn't done anything with the Wario Land series for over 15 years now, I love that someone finally is.  Hopefully with this game coming to Switch, this will cause the Pizza Tower devs to finally port that game to Switch as well.  Still don't get why the Pizza Tower devs aren't trying to get that game on the Switch as soon as possible because they're leaving lots of free money on the table.

Yar's Rising could be interesting since it looks like Wayforward is trying their take on Metroid Dread.  Of course Wayforward can be pretty hit and miss sometimes so I'll wait to see reviews of this one first.

Europa looks like it could be cool, but I'd like to learn more about how engaging its gameplay will be.  I mean I don't mind the fact there's no combat, but I'd like to know how challenging things like puzzles can be, or else I worry that game could get boring after a while.

Cat Quest III actually makes me want to buy the first 2 games next time I see them on sale, so the trailer did a good job of getting my attention.

BZZZT is defiantly a must buy to me.  I heard good things about it when it came to Steam and I can't control myself when I see high quality 16-bit era pixel art.

Animal Well and Another Crabs Treasure both look like something I'd enjoy as well.  I'll put both on my wishlist and buy them on sale eventually.

Well, one of these days I may play that original and see what all the NWR hype is about. As I recall, it scored like a 9.5 or 10 when someone reviewed it back in the day.

It's been slightly amusing to me that on the NWR Discord I've seen a lot of users hyped about the news of Heist 2 whereas in another Discord channel, I've seen it shrugged off and people wondering why they won't make Steamworld Dig 3 and are just putting out games no one wants of Steamworld Build and now Heist 2. Different communities have been split up over these various Steamworld games.

I would love to see SteamWorld Dig 3, 2 was amazing, but I'm glad they're doing Heist 2 first.

You and your boyfriends first made the claim that piracy hurts game sales before me.
Your logical fallacy is [ad hominem].

BTW, this started because you first claimed that piracy is morally correct. There's no point in discussing this further when you've Neo-dodged every criticism about the original claim.

Quote
Stealing implies someone had something taken from them. Piracy never takes the original game away from the dev, it just makes a copy. You're talking about nintendo like they're a starving indie company when they're the richest company in japan period.
Your logical fallacy is [strawman].

Quote
They have sold over 140 million switches, made over 1 billion dollars of profit on software sales and the switch is on pace to become the best selling console of all time. I think they won't lose sleep if a few million pirate their games, especially as the switch has been pirated day one.
Your logical fallacy is [special pleading].

Won't lose sleep? Nintendo literally sued Yuzu into oblivion because of people pirating Tears of the Kingdom.

Quote
If piracy hurt sales as you pretend it does, the switch would of failed.
Your (informal) logical fallacy is [false dilemma].

Quote
At least someone here comprehends how piracy preserves old games. But tbh yall sound like boomers who bought the "you wouldn't steal a car" anti piracy campaigns, and can't move on and accept that publishers do a piss poor job of providing access to their legacy titles.
LOL, no one was saying otherwise (though there's more nuance than you presented). The difference is you're the only one claiming its "morally correct".

this was the only joy I got out of my logic class.
