NoE version.

Shibata is cooler than Reggie. Plus it is much more akin to the Japanese Nintendo Directs than NoA's

You lucky Europeans get someone from Japan to run NOE, but here in America, we're stuck with useless American executives who more than likely know nothing about video games.

Iwata and his colleagues know what it's like to develop video games, so they're perfect for running Nintendo. So why couldn't NOA hire someone with more experience?

Also, aren't European Nintendo Directs usually just taking the Japanese one and subtitling it? That is pretty useless.

No NoE have recently started hosting their own Satoru Shibata (President of NoE) has hosted two Nintendo Directs for Europe. (The XL one and the one before I believe).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-9rugKCbA4  That was the latest one (XL one).

I think it's more likely that the Wii U will get a port of Lightning Returns, Kojima doesn't seem too impressed with the Wii U.

Versus is still being made. Square-Enix will suck the XIII well dry before they move on to XV

Nintendo launches software and hardware on Thursdays in Australia. . .  .

Doubt Patcher is predicting the Australian Launch though.

Kingdoms of Amalur broke even. It just didn't make enough to save the studio. They wasted too many million trying to make their MMORPG. Mismanagement from a owner that had no idea of how to run a company is what killed 38. Not the sales figures of Amalur.

Battalion Wars. The one thing that's always held it back is the clunky interface, but the screen would fix that and be a perfect way to command the troops.

I wouldn't really consider that a dormant franchise since it did appear on the Wii, so it hasn't been that long since the last one.

Well it's kind of dormant as it released early this generation and the steampunk spin off got shut down by Nintendo when they decided to go the casual direction. It doesn't look promising that it will return any time soon.

Nintendo should bring back 1080 snowboarding since SSX isn't as strong as it once was anymore.

Don't trust VG Chartz numbers, even to get a rough estimate. They just grab numbers out of their ass and then edit them when/if publishers reveal the actual numbers. The Japanese numbers are usually accurate though since Media Create and Famitsu release numbers every week.

Well it is rumoured that Sin and Punishment was being used by NoA/NoE to gauge consumer interest for niche games. Probably wasn't the best game to use as a test due to its genre. Apparently this is why we never saw Zangeki no Reginleiv outside of Japan. Sin and Punishment was a massive bomb though I doubt it was expensive to make.

My belief is NoA got burned after bringing over Elite Beat Agents and convincing Rockstar to bring GTA to the DS and both of those games bombed. It most likely convinced them that niche games weren't worth it when games like Brain Training, NSMB and Nintendogs can sell millions, which is shown when NoA reportedly shut down Project Hammer and got NST to work on some casual orientated project.

Hopefully NoA change their attitude with the WiiU. Either way atleast NoE is finally getting their act together (Besides seemingly ignoring the Kirby collection and never releasing Excitebots)

but but the controller is still tethered! Nintendo not understanding wireless technology confirmed.

They'll troll us all and it will be exclusive to the Ouya.

Or the Vita.

Maybe Nintendo can make a "spiritual' sequel to the Earthbound franchise?

But a spiritual sequel would just be another JRPG. If you want something like Mother you need to get Itoi onboard, which doesn't look promising at the moment.

Exactly, Iwata seems to be close friends with Itoi, having worked on Mother 1 and 2 while at HAL. I doubt Iwata will green light any more Mother games without Itoi, who has stated that he has finished with the franchise. Do you really think Nintendo hates Earthbound C-Oliver? There are so many references within the Smash series.

I think the real issue is that of the music sampling, Nintendo most likely doesn't think that paying the licensing fees for the music is worth the cost. Iwata probably doesn't believe in changing the music as it would change Itoi's work.

Castlevania most likely needs more time to work out its kinks. Most reports about the frame rate were pretty negative at E3.

Your comment about there being no stand out game is a bit strange since I would have thought Paper Mario and Mario RPGs in general are usually a bigger hit than Luigi's Mansion. So are you saying there was no stand out title to begin with?

Also where is Scribblenauts in your list? That's coming this year correct? Also what about Lego City Undercover?

My take on this is that Nintendo expects the titles to be coming out enough to tide over current users and that new users can pick up Mario Kart/3D Land/NSMB2/Kid Icarus to tide them over. Nintendo can't release system sellers every year.

Picked up Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon used for $20 when I was in the US.

Was impossible to find in Australia even a couple of months after the game's launch.

From Wikipedia:
"Wine is a compatibility layer. It duplicates functions of a Windows computer by providing alternative implementations of the DLLs that Windows programs call, and a process to substitute for the Windows NT. This method of duplication differs from other methods that might also be considered emulation, where Windows programs run in a virtual machine.Wine is predominantly written using black-box testing reverse-engineering, to avoid copyright issues.

True, but the Wii has had much better market penetration than the PS1. Added with the fact DQ X is a MMORPG it is going to have far less market appeal than DQ VII had. I'm probably going to be wrong but I don't see the Wii having a mini revival for a week with units flying off the shelves.

From the Neogaf sales thread apparently DQ X has had a 50% sell through of the edition bundled with USB and a 30% sell through for the stand alone copy. So it looks like it is on track to sell 300-400k for its first week.

It will probably boost to 20-30k. I'd imagine most people who want Dragon Quest X will also have a Wii already.
My prediction is that Dragon Quest X will open between 400-500k units.

I think Chozo is overplaying the significance of FFIII on Ouya. You  do realise that Square-Enix recently released FFIII on Android? Putting it on the Ouya is the natural next step to make more money. It's not like Square are actually heavily investing money in putting their game on the platform.

Or maybe the 3DS game will be a fully fleshed out Sub Space Emissary .

I doubt Nintendo will release the same game on two platforms, hell even NSMBU and NSMB2 are different. I don't think Nintendo will take the Sony approach.
