Well, the only thing I'd look more forward to in MP 2 is more strategic puzzles, specially with the morph ball. I absolutely loves those puzzles, and adding tons of them will make the game longer lasting and harder.

Plus, a harder difficulty. MP 1 was just oo damn easy.

(P.S. I don't see why Meta-Ridey is considered the hardest boss. I actually killed him easily, he'd go under one of my easier bosses list. The last boss seemed hardest to me, heh.)

People who’re interested in importing a Game Boy Advance SP later this week may have a hard time getting a hold of one.  We’ve got a few tips on where you’ll be able to pick one up.

I contacted our good friends over at Video Game Depot today and they informed me that they will be getting their full shipment this Friday.  This is the current info they have on their website…

This morning we received final word on our shipment of GBA SP systems. And in general our news is very good. We will receive our full shipment this Friday. All pre-orders will be able to be filled and we will actually have some extra Indigo left over for anyone looking to get them. Pre-orders are back up on the page for the Indigo GBA SP if anyone would like to secure one. The only bad news is that prices are slightly higher then expected, we are able to offer the SP system to all of our original pre-orders at a price of $150. We will be sending e-mails out to all pre-orders today and we ask that you please confirm that the new price is ok, we will not ship any orders that we do not receive confirmation for. The left over Indigo stock is going to be available for $155 for anyone interested. We may receive a few extra of the Black and Platinum but that is not confirmed yet, we expect to know on Friday.

National Console Support reported this morning that they’re getting an extremely small initial shipment of their Game Boy Advance SPs on Monday.

Last week, we reported severe shortages of the GBA SP when it launches in Japan. About an hour ago, only one of our suppliers confirmed some stock availability this week at the price of Y19450 (US$160.52) per unit. According to their allocations, we'll be considered lucky if we receive 50 units from them this Friday. Adding to the malaise, suppliers in Hong Kong who are generally a good backup source of product will not receive any Asian distribution of the GBA SP.

This presents a dilemma when our retail preorders went out at US$130. Due to the shortage, NCS will be unable to supply the GBA SP this week and possibly even next week due to the shortage and price revision. As the weeks go by with little or no supply, the impetus for importing a GBA SP will weaken among our customer base since the USA version of the GBA SP ships on March 22. Apologies for this situation but we would advise our customers to wait a week or so to see how the supply of the GBA SP settles. Nintendo may flood the market next week and prices will plummet. This type of "dumping" has happened before and patience may be rewarded.

In any case, if you do not want to wait and must have the GBA SP, the earliest that we will receive any supply will be on Monday of next week. Pricing will be US$175 but even then, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to fill your order due to the limited supplies in the distribution channel at this time. We will contact all our customers on Monday with more information - we may receive 10 units or 50 and we won't know until we see the airway bill from our shipper. By that time, we may have information on new, lower priced supplies as well. All the time, preparation and effort that we've put into the Japanese GBA SP launch was for naught.

Note: 01:36PM EST. We don't expect any of our customers to keep their preorders due to the price increase and shortage. We will however keep everyone updated if prices should drop back to US$130 within the next week or two. Today's news is just our way of keeping our customers informed and aware.

Video Game Advantage just let me know that they are expecting their shipment on Monday as well.  They're not taking any more orders until after they get their initial shipment.  Pricing on the next shipment TBA.

I'm going to have to say the same thing...Metroid Prime was a bit too easy. And I know there is a hard difficulty mode once you beat the game, but you can only play a game the first time once, and it was just too easy the first time around. After playing and beating Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime was almost a joke difficulty-wise. It was still unbelievably fun though.

I agree completely, Daniel.  When I first heard that there was a hint system in the game, I told myself immediately that I'm turning it off.  First thing I made sure of when I started the game, was that the hint system was off.  Not only did it make the game LONGER, but it did raise the bar of difficulty quite a bit.  Not knowing where you're supposed to go, and being in a rut because of low health, surrounded by hoards of Space Pirates really raises the intensity factor.  Kudos to Retro for making an incredible game.  Now make a Metroid that's a sidescroller (and NOT on the GBA), and I'll be happy for the rest of my life...

Some of you guys must be pros or something. I finally got to Metroid Prime and it took me 5 or 6 tries to beat the first form, each battle seemingly lasting atleast 10 minutes. When I finally beat it and saw I had to do it all over again with a second form and with hardly any energy because the first form crushed me, I said forget it.  And that was with having over 90% of the items. That was about 2 weeks ago and I haven't played since. Any tips? The ice attacks from the first form just drained me.

are you sure

i thought the order went like this

Metroid(NES)
Metroid 2(NES)
Super Metroid(SNES)
Metroid Fusion(GBA)
Metroid Prime(GC)
Next Metroid also known as 6

or does it go like this

Metroid(NES)
Super Metriod(SNES)
Metroid Prime(GC)
Metroid Fusion(GBA)
Next metroid also known as 5

The reason i think its 6 is because on the begining of Metroid Fusion it says Metroid 4

The chronological order of the games is as follows:

Metroid
Metroid Prime
Metroid II: The Return of Samus
Super Metroid (in the intro screen for the game it is called Metroid 3)
Metroid Fusion (in the intro screen for the game it is called Metroid 4)

The actual release order of the games is as follows:

Metroid
Metroid II: The Return of Samus
Super Metroid
Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion (both were released at the same time)

Metroid Prime 2 could take place between Metroid Prime and Metroid II or possibly after Metroid Fusion. As long as the story for Prime 2 builds on the ending of Prime it could be considered a sequel no matter where it gets placed in the time line.

yeah it took me a few times too.. just jump side to side a lot when u see attacks coming and dont forget to shoot those two slow projectiles he sometimes shoots at you. if they hit you they do a lot of damage, plus if you destroy them they give powerups. the main thing to do is dodge. that's how i beat him.  oh and when he is in power beam form use the 5-missile attack to do more damage.

I don't want it to be called Metroid Prime 2... definitely not...

Also, as others stated before... the order in the chronology of Metroid goes like this:
Metroid
Metroid Prime
Metroid II: Return of Samus
Super Metroid
Metroid Fusion

Note how Metroid Fusion says "Metroid IV" in the beginning. I'm thinking that Metroid Prime is more like a side story thing (although a pretty damn amazing side story ). I'm kinda hoping for a continuation of the main storyline after Metroid Fusion. Mainly Metroid V. Although at the same time though, I don't want another Metroid game. I don't want this to turn into another franchise that'll be milked even if the sequel turns out to be a quality game. I'm kinda hoping for only one Metroid game per console from Nintendo, that's pretty much how it is traditionally going so far and how I would prefer it. There are some series/licenses/franchises that are more popular and mainstream, but then there are those that I believe should be left alone and released many years apart so that each entry is truly special.

I think Retro's idea with Metroid Prime is that it's a separate chapter (not necessarily a side quest) from the rest of the series.  The Metroid Prime chapter. So far we have just seen part one of this chapter and Metroid Prime 2 is going to pick up were Metroid Prime left off. Since Metroid Prime is its own chapter then I have a feeling that the rumors that the next game will be named Metroid Prime: With a Subtitle are true.

Metroid prime was hard, but after 5 trys I beat him. The Phazon super beam is awesome.

Samus should really be able to zoom in and out in any of the visor modes...that and difficulty were the only things that pissed me off.

A co-op would be awesome....I don't know about multiplayer battle arena type stuff though. I'm sure they could introduce another character if it is Metroid 5 and not 1.75 or whatever. Also, they could have two slightly different story lines, one for one player, one for Co-op and alot of different puzzles and even bosses to make replay value huge. Damn I would love that game.

Retro did an amazing job with Metroid Prime, but I'm not particularily happy that they are working on a Metroid Prime sequel, unless this game proves to be a major step up from Metroid Prime. Looking at some of second generation games we've been promised this year and next, it's certainly in the realm of possiblity.

To tell you the truth, I would rather have them save the new Metroid for the next Nintendo system. Part of the pleasure I get from Metroid stems from the fact that the large space between sequels make each new episode a major event. Sure, you run the risk of inflating expectations, but if the end result happens to live up to our dreams, then a new classic is born. It's alot harder to do that kind of thing when sequels are released in rapid succession. I feel the RE has lost a lot flavor because of this--none of the sequels or prequels have unseated RE 2 as my favorite of the series inspite of improved graphics and engine tweaks. Hopefully RE 4 will bring back some of the freshness that disappeared after RE 2.

I'm sure some people are going to say that Nintendo needs to release as many triple A titles as they can, and I would agree with that to certain extent. My wish is--after touching upon Mario, Metroid, and Zelda-- is that they will pay attention to other series. Like many on this board I would be the first in line to pre-order Mother 3 if it was confirmed. I would also like to see Fire Emblem on these shores. I also hope that Ninteno will give its second parties a lot of room to work on their own ideas, with Nintendo's supervision.

What I would improve in the next Metroid game. Not all of them are important.

-----HELMET-----

1. Rain- In MP, it hits the screen straight, like the visor wasn't there. However, it should wrap around the viewscreen more, and leave streak effects.

2. Cracks- The 'Game Over' screen gave me this idea. What if, so to say, at 10% health left, cracks started appearing around the edges of your visor? After being hit by x infinity fireballs, *surely* some wear and tear must take place. At 5% health left, cracks start splintering across the main portion of the screen. Should you get to a Save Station, it would 'heal' most of the smaller cracks. (Those lasers gotta do *something*) To get rid of the larger ones, a return to the Gunship would be in order to replace the visor fully.

Should this be carried to the extreme, there would be different levels of cracks. The smaller ones would be on top and easily healed by the Save Stations, while larger ones would reach down farther, and prehaps even split off a piece of visor. If a visor peice was chipped off and Samus went underwater, the water would pour in and give her a time limit as to how long she could stay under. Of course, the Gravity Suit would never crack.

Again, carried to the extreme.

3. 'Condensation'- The condensation effects were a tad underwhelming, since a generic breath pattern emerged every time. Random, maybe?

-----ENVIORNMENT-----

1. More Wind- Our only glimpse of wind in Metroid Prime is the room leading to Chozo Plaza. Blowing sand, snow, dust-anything more would be nice. Also would affect the rain.

2. Footprints- Samus doesn't leave foot prints in the snow. A minor quibble but one nonetheless.

3. Higher elevations. Metroid Prime seemed like you were buried in canyons in Phendrana, Magmoor, (well...) Chozo Ruins, and the overworld. I really wanted to go to the top of a Windmill Tower, like the one in Phendrana Canyon. Looking around the terrain, seeing Quarantine Cave...Anyway.

4. "AI"- The Flying Pirates were pretty stupid. Make them hide behind buildings and such, instead of idly waiting for me to switch to the Plasma Cannon and blow the crap out of them.

5. Nature's cycle at work- More Metroids sucking the life out of Space Pirates!

6. Some sort of bump-mapping- 'nuff said

Well, that's what I can think of. Anyone else?
Born to run-but prefers a brisk walk.....

Id love to see them make a game after Metroid Fusion... It would be cool to have Samus's Fusion suit actually working and not a skin in the game. Maybe it was a hint that the next MP would be the new Samus? I havent finished the first one Lol so really there arent that many improvements i could see, just more stuff! Next Metroid Game Wish List:

1. Expanded cutscenes.
2. Longer gameplay time.
3. Addition of Multiplayer. Not during regular game. No coop, or counterop play!
4. Expanded world(s) as well.
5. More weapons, preferably ones that shoot small, cylyndrical, metallic, fast moving objects.
6. Musical score similiar to Metroid Prime.

Agree, id like Retro to start working on Metroid for the GCN sucessor. I want to see a HUGE evolution in the game series. I mean it would be Metroid like SUPER large(probably 5 times as big as Prime) with photorealistic graphics that make prime look like, well, N64 does now.

But a MP2 would be ok on GCN, and as I said, the graphical evolution should be like Halo to Halo 2.

But I think I'm one of the people that hoped they would save the next Metroid for the next Nintendo system. Make it the best launch game ever made. Anyway, I hope they make MP2 afer Metroid Fusion...which would be Metroid 5 I think. They should expand on the new abilites that Samus has...I can only imagine what Retro can think up. Ive got a few suggestions for Metroid Prime 2:

Make it longer- the game was excellent, just a bit too short for my tastes

harder difficulty

better puzzles- I was disappointed with the puzzles in Prime.

better story- Prime's story was interesting, but after playing Fusion which has a much more captivating story it seemed they could have done this with Prime.

Those are really my only quabbles about the game.

better puzzles- I was disappointed with the puzzles in Prime.

better story- Prime's story was interesting, but after playing Fusion which has a much more captivating story it seemed they could have done this with Prime.

Those are really my only quabbles about the game.

1 - I agree it should be longer than Prime 1, but Prime 1 was long enough.

2 - Yeah, it should be a bit harder next time.

3 - Mmm... Metroid isn't really about puzzles, there weren't that many in Prime to begin with. The exploration elements should be deeper in Prime 2 though.

4 - I think Prime's story was much better than Fusion's. The fact that Samus had to interact with a computer thing was very lame, she's always been a lone character and I think it should stay that way, not talking with a bunch of people and such.

As much as I love Metroid Prime, I'd rather see the next Metroid on the next system. Retro should make something else for now. A new franchise would really help, especially one by Retro. Maybe start Raven Blade again (although I think they have lost interest as many orig. people have be fired). I would be happy as heck if they brought Thunder Rally (Car Combat) back. Face it, everyone loves car combat games, and one by Retro? And throw in online and you've got the next smash bros. (in terms of multiplayer madness). What's better than pitting link against pikachu? Driving around in cars shooting rockets at your friends of course!

"Face it, everyone loves car combat games..."

Wrong, I hate car combat games.  The exception is Mario Kart battle mode.

Anyway...

I was just thinking.  There are two small things that would've made Metroid Prime much more enjoyable:  Teleports and map notes.  Teleports would be done in the style of OoT or Castlevania.  I'm sick of having to walk back through tons of areas I've been before to get to where I need to go.  I don't think the teleports would hurt the explorative gameplay.  It'd just be a shortcut.  I like the idea of uncovering a secret in an area I've been before, just not backtracking through areas with nothing new.

Map notes would also be extremely handy.  I realized this when playing Baldur's Gate II.  In that game, you can customize your map a bit by putting note icons on it to remind you where something is.  This would be extremely handy on a Metroid game.  You could mark where that energy capsule or grappling hook point is so that you could come back to it later.  I never remember where any of the secrets are.

I'd also like to see more aggressive Metroids. They shouldn't just fly around for 30 seconds then go into an attack dive. They should rush at you like they did in the sidescrolling Metroids. Halo's Flood gave me this idea. Retro should just play Halo for 3 or 4 hours, then they could come up with some nice ideas.

Well, Metroid isn supposed to be a Halo Killer, but I certainly wouldnt mind some more action

But at the same time I want some stealth like parts, or parts with no action at all, i want a 3rd person perspective option. (and first only during action) although that isnt a must imo, maybe wouldnt even work?

I want MUCH better graphics, Halo to Halo 2 like advances.

I want it to be way bigger, more stuff, weapons, moves, enemies etc.
ANd also new environments(although the variation in MP was near perfect).

Naming all these improvements reminds me of HOW INCREDIBLE AWESOME MP was.

Hopefully not. I wouldn't like to wait four more years for the next Metroid game, and the Gamecube hasn't yet show its full potential. There were a bunch of graphical issues in Prime 1 I'd like to see fixed on Prime 2.

One thing I'd like to see in Prime 2 is FMV sequences for the intro and the ending. The intro in Prime was awesome, but I was a bit disappointed with the ending, which wasn't even on the same level of quality as the intro, specially when Samus removes her helmet she looked so weird, with a FMV she'd look great.

What I love about Metroid Prime, primarily is how there isn't a story laid out in the conventional sense.  The story is hidden in the details, which you piece together.  The whole game is one big cutscene, if you look at it a certain way.  You land on this planet, and you begin to gather details about the Chozo (whose story has this awesome atmosphere and sense of ancient history around it) and the Pirates' experiments, etc.

This needs to be continued with the next Metroid--I don't expect this concrete story-line that unfolds with Samus talking to people and Samus sitting at a space-bar and Samus in the shower at her apartment at home.  As much as many of you might be pining for this sort of thing, do you really think it belongs in Metroid??  (By the way, someone--I don't recall the name--expressed fears about having another Metroid game so soon.  This I completely sympathize with, as I would hate to see this "sequelized" into mediocrity.)

It all goes back to the joke going around about when Samus's volleyball game is coming out...haha.  I mean, the last thing I, for one, want is a game where you control Samus's exciting adventures with the resident island hotties, whilst duking it out in a game of cricket or something.

I like the silent hero[ine], and no one does it much better, if at all, than Nintendo.

I understand the fears some have of another Metroid title coming out for the Cube, but I do not agree that it will be a bad thing. Metroid Prime is an amazing achievement. For Retro to use the same engine to continue it's excellence is perfectly fine with me. If anyone else other than Retro Studios was making it, I'd object. If they drastically change the game design, I'll object. Otherwise it's almost like we're getting the next level in the Metroid legacy. MP2 will be like Majora's Mask to OoT. I don't think releasing more games in a series makes them any less 'special,' because, like the Zelda series, you can group the games by console so that they're less like games and more like chapters to an unfolding story.

Yeah, I think Retro Studios developing another Metroid title for GCN is a good thing.

I'm looking forward to the second Metroid game by Retro, and I'm glad it's on the GC.  It can use all the help it gets to sell more consoles.

I do hope, though, that it'll be the last Retro Metroid title.  After this, it's time to do it internally again.  I've lost no faith in Retro at all, but this makes yet another Nintendo property that's being given to another dev. team (regardless of the fact that it's second party), and I'd like for them to prove to me that they can still do it, even though I know they can.  Get the Super Metroid team on it... because I don't care how good Prime is... it was AMAZING... but it just doesn't stack up to Super Metroid, which I feel is probably the best game of all time.

The last thing I really want is for Metroid to stay a first-person game from here on out.

Dr. Synthetic...I think Nintendo will continue to dole out licenses to co-develop with other dev. teams.  Think about it: if Nintendo hadn't done that with Metroid Prime, it quite probably wouldn't have been made (couple the workload with the fact that Japan couldn't care less, nearly, about Metroid, and you've got a big reason why Nintendo shepherded Metroid out).

Nintendo is great, but they are only so big, and we all know they are perfectionists, usually, too.  They could have done no better thing than to hire great programmers, etc. and to work side-by-side with them to make more games than ever before.  Very, very smart.  I wouldn't have it any other way.  I mean, in the end, Metroid Prime, a so-called "second party title," was better than many first party titles.  That's truly an amazing accomplishment and a testament to the fact that Nintendo is one of the best collaborators/leaders/creative directors out there when they aren't the sole makers.

Just that you have to be quick and try to duck into the burrows when it starts to ram. The next form does give you a change to recharge and its easier to dodge all of its attacks.

The following was going to be my reply to the graphical updates in MP:2

Droping to 30 solid FPS will not effect the game what so ever in my opinion. I may be wrong but isn't Blue Storm was set at 30 FPS and that didn't seems to effect the gameplay. There will be some graphical improvments in the next installment since they will have time tweek the current engine to get better profromance. So maybe the drop maynot be as nessary as some think it is.

yes but I actually do notice it when you change the resolution.  In metroid when you move and when anything moves it all seems extremely crisp.  Think about super smash bros melee in 30fps.  Well, I'm not really a graphics whore, but i am a fps whore.  I've played halo, and frankly, the thing that turned me off the most was the way it felt when you got in the vehicles.  It felt like you were controlling the person or car, instead of being the person, or driving the car.  See, when you would turn a car, it felt kinda...sluggish.  And this is because of 30 fps. While it looks great, it feels...not so great.  At least, that's what I thought.

I dissagree with those who worry about Metriod being "sequalized into meidocrity" by releasing another Metriod game on the same sysytem.  Nintendo released two Zelda games on the Nintendo64 , and they were both excellent, and they even used the same engine.  Even if they did not improve the engine or graphics, I do not doubt Nintendo's and Retro's ability to make the Metriod Prime 2 a great game.  I can not wait for the next Metriod, and am happy that another is comming so soon.  Nintendo knows what they are doing; trust them.

After finishing Prime i would say that my wish list should have:

-  Bump mapping and better use of lights. The sunlight is very realistic when you look direct to the sun in chozo ruins, but in inside locals the light seems very fake; The armor coul really get a felling of a real samus.

- Other visors. It is something pretty unique that stands metroid prime apart from other games. Retro could really work on the visor for really breath taking innovations like said before for another user. Instead of being every time the same, they could differ in various situations. The visor could show mal functions.

- More different armors. A white pearl mettalic one with the visor in red would be cool. Organic technology could be aplied, more than in fusion. Some sort of secret chozo technology.

- More weapons and other upgrades for the ball.

- Night and day cicles. That could change the life cycle. Some predators could be seen just at night. Some regions could be very dangerous to go on a specific time of the day.

- A really impressive history. The pirates could reach the chozo home planet, technologies beyond compreension.  The federal confederation coul be seen in a political way, like dealing with the space pirates and trying to eliminate Samus with "others" bounty hunters (that could work well on a multiplayer combat, imagine playing a multiplayer controlling ridley)

- More complex outdoors environments.  A destroyed city in the ways of the beggining of Final Fantasy - The Spirits within. Being played at night.

- There should be more than a world. And sometimes you should travel to one another. It would be cool to call the ship

- The water sould be redone. It´s very well implemented when samus gets out of the water, but really bad when she´s out of it. Scenaries partially under water with reflections a la resident evil sharks pool or alien ressurection. The pirate speceship under water was a try for this, but it was a pretty dull and boring ambient.

- voice acting. If its well done, then ppl will forget the "samus should not talk" thing.

We don´t have that power wich in old days moved earth and haven,

That wich we are we are,

One equal temper of heroic hearts made weak by time and fate, but strong in will,

To seek, to find, to strive and not to wield.

Nintendo Forever...

I think vastly upgrading the game and upkeeping 60FPS should be no problem at all. Its not like Metroid Prime uses up all of the GCN hardware power, probably just about 50% or less (FFX used 60% of PS2 hardware).

THeres much room for graphical improvement, and bumpmapping alone could upgrade the games graphics quality by like 30%, add more polys and effects etc.

For the gameplay, im sure they are innovative enough to take this game on the next level, and I wouldnt be surprised to see a game thats much better than MP2 in any respect by middle of 2004.

And I hope Retro and EAD also work on a GCN2 Metroid in the future.

New thought-

Conditional hints.

Instead of a random 'climatological survey' spontaneously directing you to the Ice Beam, you head to the Gunship if the Well of Ways to Go runs dry. Options would pop up, as follows:

1) Geological Survey
-Geothermal
-Geoseismic
2) Atmospheric Survey
-Climatalogical
-Chemical waste (useful for detecting buildings like Phazon Mines, the Ore Processing room)
3) Electromagnetic Survey
-Communications
-Radiation

And so forth. It would add a touch of realism. For instance, if you wanted to detect Omega Pirate or Thardus (or any MASSIVE HONKING BOSSâ„¢), you'd go for Geoseismic or Radiation, since they give that off in droves. To locate someplace like the Phendrana Labs, you'd check Communications or Chemical Waste.

Again, taken to the extreme, I'd like a communicatory link-up with the ship computer, so if I'm stuck somewhere I could 'dial up'. Of course, in subterranean levels this hookup would be inoperative. This stems from my intense desire to actually have someone say something in Metroid Prime. I swear. It's creepy. She doesn't even say "Holy mother of...." when Metroid Prime drops from the ceiling and unfurls in the Phazon Infusion Chamber.

Offshoot Theory-

The closer you get to the Gunship, the more precise the hookup and survey will be. At some point you'll need to plant a transmitter to scan accurately in farther regions.

Here is my thoughts on Metroid Prime 2 (Just to note: I am only about half way through Prime (Grav suit) and Fusion (Speed boost), but I have won the rest of the games)

USE THE BROADBAND ADAPTER!
Yes, I know that it may ruin the continuity, BUT not if it was a big part of the game. Yes, Samus works alone, but I can't imagine that she is the ONLY bounty hunter. (I SEVERELY doubt she is the ONLY one in the Galaxy that even has her suit or ship) Heck, maybe even have a rival in the game (Like Sa-X), but out for the bounty. Maybe work together occasionally, maybe try and stop the other from suceeding, and just for fun, a multiplayer Deathmatch variant of the game.

Hmm... Metroid Pime LIVE. Take the whole planetary system, allow travel between the planets, have the game moderators throw in troubling stuff at random, choice of massively multiplayer or single player (single player campain can allow the multiplayer events to have effects in the single player game)

Speech. Not too much, but more little things. Samus talking to herself, intercepted radio signals, pirates chatting, etc.

Level Editor! (Save to your memory card)

Let me fly her SWEET little space ship! (Fly it to other parts of the planet, or even fight Prime in the air!)

LMSx has a good idea with the uplink, but I say take it a bit further: When in serious trouble, call in a sub-orbital strike from her ship.

Ooh! Cloak abilty! Flight pack! Buzzsaw Morph Ball! Deformable terrain! Zero-G combat!

Imagine a MMRPG version of Prime with all of the above: At least one planet would be a complete wasteland because of a massive number of people playing, fightinh, and just blowing the h311 out of the place.

Also, with how many times she has lost her abilities due to little things (Radiation spike, viral invasion), why doesn't she make a backup of her abilities software and have someone try to reverse-engineer her armor and weapons, you know, just incase.

The thing is, she IS the only one with her suit and abilities.

Unless the Chozo raised someone else from birth and gave him/her another suit and Chozo-infused blood, that someone else also got infected by X and was injected with a Metroid vaccine, that someone else also has a reason for choosing a bounty hunting career and that someone else bumps into Samus somehow.

Highly unlikely... to say the least.

Yeah it wont be a MMORPG ever. Its gonna be just in the style of Metroid Prime, vastly enhanced gameplay and graphics, bigger etc, maybe even some online components.

But making it an MMORPG would SUCK, either thered be like 100 000 Samuses whcih would suck, or 100 000 different characters, which would suck because its impossible to do, and because everyone wants to be Samus.

More upgrades....

Cloaking?

Interplanetary Missions...having to fly from planet to planet to explore...

More acrobatic, the jump to the left or right was to short of a jump, a roll should be added and a jump back should be added.

Multiple targeting (Not stupid and cheap like Sonic or Gunvalkrye) with special beam cannon (no not Piccolo's)

Double Cannon Blast (both hands for short periods of time)

GreNADES---FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!

EVERYTHING HARDER<>YES THERE SHOULD BE A HINT SYSTEM BECUASE IT IS MORE BOUNTY HUNTER LIKE.

More Video and Spoken story

I want to hear her reactions or at least see them, I want to see her eyes widen in a cutscene before some huge ass boss, I want emotion....

BIGGER BOSSES, I want to have to jump up levels just to come face to face like the olden days...

Anyway, don't worry about it. Retro won't let themselves let us down, and EAD and Miyamoto certainly won't...

Hm...besides the music, do you think Intelligent Systems had anything to do with Prime or anything to do with Metroid 6 in development (at least we get a movie at E3)....I mean...EAD had little to nothing to do with the original Metroid games....Retro and EAD sure did a good job of looking at what Intelligent Systems did and reproducing it...

Mad xenomorph: if u read the metroid 2 manual it says that samus is the greatest of ALL the bounty hunters.

I cant blieve how much praise metroid prime has gotten, yes it was good, but i played without the hint system and it was still way too easy, and hard mode didnt help much...  IMO it was no match for the flawless super metroid, i cant help but think that it would have been better in the traditional sidescroller style, i just hope and pray that MP2 will be 2d.

personally i just want to see a good sequal to metroid prime
we could use some more items and larger levels and a harder game but that is all up to retro and nintendo
i loved metroid prime and as long as they can improve on that formula it should be a great game
it has been confirmed that prime 2 (or whatever it will be called) will be shown at e3 in video form
i cant wait to see what it will look and play like

Some of you guys must be pros or something. I finally got to Metroid Prime and it took me 5 or 6 tries to beat the first form, each battle seemingly lasting atleast 10 minutes. When I finally beat it and saw I had to do it all over again with a second form and with hardly any energy because the first form crushed me, I said forget it. And that was with having over 90% of the items. That was about 2 weeks ago and I haven't played since. Any tips? The ice attacks from the first form just drained me.

When he is yellow shoot super missles at him
When he is blue use the wave beam missle combo
When he is red just shoot regular fire shots as fast as you can
When he is white just just regular ice shots as fast as you can

You can hide in the trenches in ball form

Just dodge and take you time and he will go down.

His second for is pretty easy just go stand in the puddle of goo (i forget what its called) and it will super charge your weapon. Locote him using one of your visors (he will be visible on only one at a time) and let him have it.

Hope this helps

Metroid Prime certainly wasnt easy, but the 2nd form was easier than the first. Not necessarily easier in combat but it drained very little of your health. BUt if you figure out a way the first form is easy to. On my first 2 tries I failed and then after that failed on the 2nd form. But then I beat the first form loosing only 2 tanks and had like 11 left for the 2nd form.

i would love to see the option of pressinga button to changethe view, so it  the camera can be put over the shoulder  of samus in 3rd or  as it was in prime, 1st for scanning and such.
other games utilize both views andi think if done right that could be a great  addition to metroid.

they could have a metroid following her around with a camera like on Mario64.

Metroid Prime was surprisingly a very easy game.  I had to use the hint system once, but honestly, the enemies did not do much damage to you besides the Shadow Pirates.

What I like to see in Metroid Prime 2:

    More cutscenes

      Kraid

        A water stage

          More morph ball areas
I got some killaz on my payroll.

Water was just annoying before you got the upgrades....

Any ways, all I'd like to see in MP 2 is:

          More and Harder Bosses
          More strategic Puzzles
Same size Game, just harder (which will make it longer because it will be longer to complete harder tasks ).
          Maybe more variety of enemies?

Well I decided I'd take a crack at this.

-One thing I want to see is more secret passages and alternate routes. One thing I didn't like about Prime is you either used a door, an elevator, or rarely a tunnel to get from one room to the other and for the most part they were usually pretty obvious. I want to have some rooms and areas in Prime 2 where I'm truly stuck and can't figure out how to get out of them. Just like good old classic Metroid.
-There should be more local life forms that actually attack you instead of just running around some platform or floating in the air. The Sheegoths were nice in Prime but there needs to more of that kind of stuff in Prime 2.
-I want to see more weird exotic areas like the Impact Crater in Prime. One thing that I really liked about the classic Metroid games is that the areas really looked and felt alien. With the bubble areas and weird ancient ruins and so forth. The only place that was really alien in Prime was the Impact Crater. Other wise you had a lava area, snow area, forest area, and ancient ruin area. All of that stuff was kind of cliché and generic.
-I'm hoping that they will use a new planet in Prime 2 and that whatever planet they use will be more akin to Zebes in that it is a deadly hostile planet. Keep in mind Tallon IV was supposed to be a paradise planet before the asteroid hit releasing the Phazon.
-I want to see more classic Metroid type areas were you keep going further and further down in the planet. The Phazon Mines did a pretty good job of giving you that feeling of going deeper and deeper into danger and further from the surface and safety that you got with the classic Metroid games.
-Finally like everyone else I want to see new beams, armor, and I wouldn't mind if you got to fly the ship in a couple of areas. Oh, and having a bigger game area would be nice as well. Some nastier uglier bosses would be nice to. I wasn't really that impressed with how the majority of the bosses looked in Prime.
Now for what I don't want to see.

-I don't care what anyone else says or feels about this I don't want multiplayer in any shape or form to be in any Metroid game. People who want multiplayer in Metroid are just like people that go on about how Zelda games have always had realistic graphics. They usually just came in when Metroid Prime was coming out (for the Zelda idiots it's Ocarina) and really don't understand the series at all. For that matter I don't want to see any extra bounty hunters or crap like that that other people have suggested.
-Finally I never want to see the Fusion suit used in a Metroid game again. Yes, it was nice to get a change of pace for ONE game but I don't want it to be used again. One of the reasons I fell in love with the series when I was like 5 years old was because of that kick ass armor Samus wears. That clown/wet suit thing known as the Fusion suit just doesn't stand up to the Power Suit. It doesn't even look like armor. At the end of Fusion I was really pissed when Samus absorbed the SA-X's Core-X and she only combined her Fusion Suit with the Power Suit. I was really hoping that when she absorbed the Core-X she would get the Power Suit back.

Umm, where have you been? The game has been out in the US for 5 months. I think by now it's okay to talk about the game without spoiler warnings. Maybe we should just start putting up spoiler warnings for every thing related to books, movies, and games no matter how long it has been since they've been released. Kind of ridiculous idea don't you think?

Metroid Prime is old news.  By this time you should stay out of the threads, for fear of unmarked spoilers like that.

I liked how enemies in Prime weren't all vicious, bloodthirsty beasts.  There were some creatures that were just there, and you can kill them if you were that sadistic.  It would be nice to have it be harder and stuff, and while I liked the bosses in Prime, I could sure do with some more awesome bosses.  More later, I've got to go eat.

Yeah, your standards are pretty messed up joeamis. You get pissed because someone says that Metroid Prime is the final boss with no spoiler warning but yet you turn around and do the exact same thing. Yet, somehow it's okay when you do it. That's very interesting.

I would like to add that being 18 I knew that Darth Vader was Luke's father before I ever even seen those movies. Did I get pissed at the world over it? NO. I knew that the movies had already been out for several years and that it was pretty much common knowledge to everyone considering how popular those movies are. In other words get over it and if you really are that concerned about spoilers (which I doubt. you probably just wanted to bitch someone out for the hell of it) then it would make good sense to avoid reading anything related to Metroid until you have finished the game.

Most of the "insider information" speculation seems to indicate that the Metroid Prime sequel will indeed have multiplayer.  I have complete faith in Retro Studios.  If they decide to include multiplayer, I'm sure they will make it work flawlessly.  Afterall Nintendo did add multiplayer to Zelda and it worked out perfectly.

Some additions I would like to see are:

Melee weapon - I always wanted to smack some enemies around with Samus' arm cannon.

Grenade weapon - I think it would be cool to launch some grenades.  Imagine bouncing grenades off walls at enemies around hallway corners! FUN!

Despite what the hardcore fans of Metroid might think, the gaming industry no longer runs to suit your desires. It makes perfect sense for Metroid Prime 2 to come out end of this year/start of 2004 with major graphical and gameplay upgrades, and then have a new metroid prime game ready for a few months after launch of the next console in 2005.

Perhaps have Retro make another game along a different vein after MP2, just so they dont get too single minded and to keep the dev team fresh.

The multiplayer doesn't need to have anything to do with the actual game.  It'd be awesome to play, but it wouldn't have to interrupt the feeling of the main game.  It'd just be an escape.

Yeah, who knows.  Maybe you're each a metroid of different colors and you are unleashed on a planet, and you have to compete to evolve the fastest, or see how many kills you get before you get blasted.  Since you evolve based on how much energy you absorb, it could be fun

Or perhaps they could do something like the Pac Man game, where one person is Samus and the other 3 are Metroids wreaking havoc on a space station.

You could also all be space pirates, perhaps rogue pirates that are fighting against the main space pirate bunch for some reason.  They've been marked for death and have to fight their way out.  You could do some co-op stuff that way, too.

I like what Nintendo did with the Pac Man game, and I hope I see more multiplayer games, online and offline, that do similar things.  There are already "king of the hill" gametypes, but it's just not the same when anyone can be the king.

edited to add:  Didn't Metroid 4 end with the realization that there were a dozen or more SA-X clones?  Given the inclusion of the Fusion suit in Metroid Prime, it wouldn't surprise me if they included SA-X clones in Prime 2's multiplayer.

I think there should be a Four Swords type of deal or actually like a FF: CC, where you and your friends each have to work together towards a common goal.....you can compete for upgrades or you can split them up so you team becomes like a platoon. Where some one may be the power (with all the different weapon modes or at least the more powerful ones), some one may be the scout (with the visions), some one may be the infiltration (morph ball and all that), and some one will be the wings (double boost and other upgrades). I don't know, the only way that would work, if they made so many more upgrades. Also you should be able to swap the ablities at all times if you would like. For example if there is a really huge hard boss, instead of having four separate skilled people, make one combined upgraded samus.

All the different bouty hunters will come standard with the power beam and scan just like in prime.

As for upgrades, I would be happy if they included a sniping mode for a gun (like a rail gun).

          Damn this computer.

Oh well.  Anyway, I was saying that Star Fox 2 looks very promising for a good multiplayer.  It may not be better than Halo, for most people, but I have a wierd sense of having fun, and I think Star Fox may be ten times better, easily (especially with my friends, who also have that wierd sense of having fun).  As for Metroid having a good multiplayer, I have no idea.  We'll just have to wait and see.

Sense of fun?  My friends and I still make "monkey" jokes when we play Super Monkey Ball.  We're all 22 and over too, and couple of us married.  Such "mature content" in a children's title!

i think multiplayer in metroid might stand a chance. i am a purist about metroid, but in this day and age, anything goes.

Great.  Let's hope for "Super Samus Ball"
          or
          "Super Morph Ball"
          or
          "Super Metroid Ball"

with the complementary "Super Metroid Ball Jr." on Game Boy Advance.

"almost as bad as hearing aeris dies in ff7 before i played it"

Thanks- I just bought FF7 and haven't played it yet. I was just reading through everyone's ideas for MP2 and suddenly you drop that, in the same post as when you were railing on someone else for slipping a spoiler. Just because FF7 is 5 years old doesn't mean anything- it's a very story intensive game, so don't even try to defend yourself on that one. You should've known who the final boss was in Metroid Prime seeing as it's in the friggin' title- even I guess that before playing the game.
