I'm glad to see that DBZ, magical girls, and Link's Rendition of A Karate Kid is all represented in this update.

Well at least this isn't something we knew from E for All.

At least I think so...

Interesting update I guee, but I think I'm going to finally but briefly join the chorus people who just want a character update already. For some reason, the world is lopsided until I know Captain Falcon's back, even with the revelation of the fascinating handicap option which I'd never use 'cause I don't want the game condescending to me, or whatever.

Think of all the characters they could be adding and balancing with the resources they're wasting on online. Mull over it for a while, see how it tastes.

Don't worry... in the worst case, you'll just be wishing in vain for a new character over the 3 additional months they delayed this game to add online. That's not so bad, right?

Curious how well the new handicap will work as beginners I've seen play usually have difficulty connecting with attacks.  A pro would be able to avoid a majority of attacks.

Also, I don't know if people are still whining ... err worried about the item switch.  This update shows it.

When are we going to get a useful update? This stuff isn't revealing anything interesting about the game. We already knew about multiple taunts and the handicap stuff is obvious and pretty worthless on the whole.

It's a blog. Sakurai's blog has more "useful" updates than most blogs.

Yeah, but we're sort of spoiled on the useful updates. There have been many in the past and there really hasn't been one in a while. The handicap change was certainly not a big deal, and the 3 updates before that were of information we already had. Lucas's move set caused some controversy as far as Ness's existence, but aside from that, the best update we've gotten in the past 3 weeks was the stage builder. Although that was a big one, there's still no information on the things that we actually WANT to know. Instead, we've mostly been getting things that we alreadydo know.

I like this a lot better than the old handicap method.  The old method was cheap and frustrating, but this way it essentially spots the newbie a few hits.

If they hadn't made all these new stages they could have REALLY added a lot more characters!

I wonder what happens when you pick up food/health items.  Can your damage meter decrease below your handicapped starting point?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Tastes just fine, considering I'd probably play SSBB offline for about a week before I mastered a character, no one would want to play with me and the game would be assigned to dust collecting duty on the shelf.

Is that a challenge?

Also, the updates are slow because the game was delayed, like Luigi Dude said previously. Plus we have so many great games coming out that we don't need any Megaton Smash Bros announcements to keep us going. It's like their hype system with VC games.

Of course.

One of the reasons I'm psyched for online is because I'm curious to see if I'm decent at SSB or if I suck and all the people I've played against just happen to suck harder.

I'd love nothing more than to find players better than me and study at their feet until I can match them.

I only got as decent as I did because I had some excellent sparing partners, including my brother and two friends and all of them have moved away from me over time. I miss those matches: we'd fire up a game, 3 stock, and any of the four players could win. The fact that you never knew who it would be made it that much more fun and exciting.

In my case, I just suck, period.

In all seriousness, the reason I never developed my skills is because I never had anyone to spar against, just the computer. Online should help me pick up on my competitive skills.

Don't look to me for a challenge either. I love Smash Bros to death, but I've never been a very competitive player. F-Zero, on the other hand..

Two words for the Halberd theme:
"Where's Mega?"

Reminds of something from the original Megaman serious.  Dimension cape should be a little interesting.
