I kinda hope they break out of sitcom territory.  A 45 minute mystery episode.  A 45 minute action show like 24.  A Sci-Fi show...all those could be explored and continue the story.  I would love an X-Files type mystery with Vision and Scarlet Witch playing the roles of Molder and Scully. Vision is Scully.

I am curious if it is a single big level or what.  It kinda seems like a playground where you are basically playing a Mario Godzilla game.  Mario goes around doing little chores to earn "stars" or whatever currency you got...and a timer goes off and evil Bowser comes and you have to fend him off and then go back to work.

It also seems there may be places you can only reach during a bowser attack which is also pretty intense.  Something tells me it will be a short bonus game but it looks fun.

I really think a Dare Devil TV Show or movie series would be nice.  I would also love a big screen Jessica Jones, that really took the Super Hero part of it and ran more with it.

Has anyone calculated how many new weeks of Marvel we will get and the timing?  I know Paramount was touting 24 weeks of Star Trek when Discovery and Lower Decks were premiering.

I am really disappointed that DC comics once had a universe that aged and had characters age and have kids and move on.  I really wish that Crisis never happened.  I wish that DC could have aged its universe pass the mantel to a new generation and have a truly growing and evolving universe.  Then if books wanted to revisit eras from that universe they could. Why this rant?  Because Batman Beyond did that very well.  It was a natural future for the Justice League Cartoon universe and I would have loved for Batman Beyond to have grown into Superman Beyond and eventually retire to a new show Justice League Beyond.  But alas that never happened.

I feel in love with Daisy with her Mario Kart audio sound clips.  IIIIIIIII'm Daisy. And it Princess Peach's either Mario Kart or Smash Bros. Sassy "Oh, Did I win?" in a tauntingly innocent but mischievous voice was always great.

I feel I remember this one.  I mean it isn't shocking anymore.

Movie Theaters will always make more money for the theaters.  If I go to the movie it costs my family at the lowest $20.00 for tickets.  That is pretty expensive so it means we only see a movie twice a summer and maybe twice a winter.  But that movie has made a bunch for the company.  Now, a streaming service that can keep people enrolled for the entire year and not canceling will make a lot of money but never hit those big highs.

I won't like I have been eyeing HBO Max ever since this announcement and I know it pisses off the film makers and the movie theater industry, but I don't care.  I like this idea.  movie theaters are nice and will always make companies more money, but it also is old school.

I want to just watch my shows at home now...it is convenient and just as fun.

I kinda hope that Marvel focuses on only event movies and do limited series on Disney plus for now on.  Movies are great for huge events but can't really tell detailed sprawling stories with character development.

BnM:  That is excellent news.  I think a Daredevil, Spiderman scene would be a great opening scene for Spiderman.  Especially the humor of the situation with Spiderman always making bad choices.  I would open the movie to a Spiderman being on trial and the judge and lawyer making a plea that Spiderman won't be active until he is proven innocent.

Only for Spiderman to wear the suit and fight a renegade Daredevil.  Which would be hilarious because he is attacking his lawyer defiantly in two ways.

I have to say, I love the idea of a multiverse Sinister Six.  I also love the fact that most of these characters know one version/identity of who Peter Parker is.  That dynamic would be interesting, as each Spiderman is very different.

I would honestly hate to be the Script writer for this though, because it just seems like a hard case to crack.  I can see one or two villains at most from each franchise.  Vulture, Eletro, Doctor Octopus seem legit.  Green Goblin seems possible with or without the actor if he stays in his mask.

I don't think you need Venom in there.  I could see an animated sequence where they go into a scene from Into the Spiderverse to meet SpiderGwen or Miles.

I don't know if I would have done a live Action Spiderverse movie, but the spectacle of it will be amazing.  And it can find a way to take our beloved Spiderman out of MCU and into that Sony Spiderverse that Sony wants so desperately.  And it can give us hope that one day someone will have our Spiderman from that horrible Sony-verse.  Ha.

I mean it is true.  But if Disney wants to just appease investors.  That number of subscribers looks bigger.  Also, if Disney is going to add mature content then Hulu makes less sense in general.  The only question is...Hulu is still just a US service and Disney is trying to position Disney+ as an international service.  So, would it be easier to figure out how to stream all the Hulu shows slowly on Disney+ or move Hulu internationally?

I mean I could see other aspects of the merging the 2 together that we may not consider.

1) Bandwidth.  The potential of freeing up bandwidth being used in 2 services to only be used for one might play a part in this.

2) Contracts ending with shows.  Hulu used to be a service where many of the companies had shares so there was no larger majority owner.  Now Disney is the big stock holder after they got Fox...so I could see other companies wanting to move their series off of Hulu and onto their own streamer...once Hulu begins losing properties folding it into Disney Plus (if when Disney + decides to add adult content) makes sense.

3) Consolidating services into a single streamer is more comfortable for consumers and it helps add value to your product.  People are already tired of the numerous streaming services and they have a number in their head how many they will subscribe to.  I bet most people only want to subscribe to 2 or 3.  So if you can show your streamer to meet the needs of the whole family you are going to get that money.

4) The Competition is getting stronger. Netflix remains a juggernaut and has built itself an empire that can survive even losing legacy shows because of its strong original content.  HBO Max has the WB backed legacy films and television with the HBO brand that has been around forever and has tons of great original series and if things get desperate they can even go deeper and deeper into that HBO library.  Now willing with Warner Bros giving a years worth of box office movies straight to HBO Max that is hard to compete with.

I loved the Robotech story with the transforming motorcycles.  I wasn't a big fan of the jets to robots stories.

I don't know if you are talking about value added then 1 purchase to watch the movies you want at 14.99 a month.  If a couple or a family was going to see one movie a month then they already have paid for the service in spades.  Where the Premium I am going to own a movie for $30.00...great but I spend $30.00.

Now HBO won't bring in the same money in the theaters for Return on Investment, but they may be able to remodel their advertising for movies and marketing and budgets to make up that money.  It is an interesting experiment and obviously, Netflix has been doing well with making direct to streaming movies, that are sometimes released in theaters as well.

It honestly makes me want to try HBO Max.  I wonder if HBO Max works better with a VPN than Disney + because right now Disney+ in S.K. sucks.

Actually I think if they bring Daredevil and the other shows to D+ I hope the newer seasons tone some of the gore down.  I don't mind mature content, but in my Marvel comic book movies I want to watch them with my family as soon as possible.

I have been eyeing HBO Max It just seems to offer a huge amount of content for all ages.  Sesame Street to me seems like enough of buy in for me.  But then all the Warner Bros stuff, DC stuff, and HBO content.  It just seems like HBO Max is the best contender to Netflix.

Any thoughts of this Disney 18+ or Disney Star label for Disney + shows?

Personally, I don't mind a secondary app or location, but I don't want to pay another subscription.  Raise the price maybe but Disney can easily just add the content to Disney + and pull even more content from Hulu which is unnecessary streamer except for live TV options.  I think once contract obligations go away with Hulu you will see shows disappear and go to other streaming services.  Disney really needs to open the floodgates to Fox's deep catalog of films, and Disney's Miramax labels and more...and right now Disney + is feeling kinda small.  Dropping in adult content would really beef up the catalog.

I agree with all of you Black Panther is too important of a character to just switch out.  He was going to be a core character to the vision of the future Marvel Universe.  He is one of the few properties to bridge the first 3 phases with the new generation of phases coming in the future.  It will also cheapen the universe and world building they have had since they only really did his origin story...getting rid of him now forgoes a lot of exploring that very interesting part of the Marvel Universe.  We have already had at least 2 actor changes in the MCU and I don't think it is that big of a deal.

General Chat / Re: The COVID-19 Virus is Coming For Us All Thread

I remember when the predicted death toll would only be 50,000 and people were like that will never happen.  Then it jumped to 100,000 death toll predictions.

What is crazy is some people still say those numbers are wrong.  That they are saying anyone that dies was a COVID19 death.  Then some less crazy people say well if they die from another thing, but also COVID19 it is a COVID19 death...so it is actually much lower.

Does it really matter though?  We have 250,000 deaths that may or may not have been prevented.  That is disheartening fact.

I keep on looking at HBO Max as a real contender to Netflix more than the others streamers.  First with all of HBO it has original series that are huge event series like Netflix.  With the Warner Bros history of film they have a huge library of movies to have to watch...and with many TV series it is a great place for new, and old favorites.  Throw in the fact that it has good children's options like Sesame Street and you have the making of a great all around service.  It is expensive though, but it seems to have the value there.

I kinda hope Fantastic Four is used as a Disney + series.  It needs more time to develop than a movie.  That is one of the biggest problems with the movies.  You have a villain and 4 heroes with pretty sophisticated relationships with each other to develop in a movie along with a plot.  Either Disney+ this thing, or put them in as extended cameos before launching their movie/series.

I thought Mr. Fantastic is a perfect person to add to the universe now that Tony Stark isn't around.  We can get a new brainy character.

Yeah, personally I have never 100% Super Mario Sunshine.  I got all the normal Stars and that was tedious.  I have 100% Mario 64 many times.  I just have been thinking about my old habit of trying to 100% things and with  Odyssey and Breath of the Wild I released that goal is not necessary to me anymore.  I just don't care.
