Episode 39 - ZELDA DIES
« on: September 03, 2014, 11:49:00 PM »

Hyrule Warriors, some talk about the New Nintendo 3DS and even a bit about Japanese baseball on the show this month!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/famicast/38420/episode-39-zelda-dies

Well, summer time is coming to a close, but the Famicrew has some hot topics (something like that) to talk about this month. The guys are down a man as Matt wasn’t able to make it, but Ty and Danny hold down the fort in the midst of the barrage of news that hit the airwaves. Danny starts off the show with Hyrule Warriors in his new business highlighting gameplay, adventure mode, the problems with co-op and more. Ty gives us another dissertation about the merits of fighting games (there’s some cool stuff coming to KI on Xbone!) as well as some impressions of the mobile version of Puzzle Bobble, aka Bust-a-Move.

The New Nintendo 3DS is set to release in Japan this October and is going to bring some interesting changes to Nintendo’s handheld. The guys break down what the new hardware can do and what this can potentially mean for the future of the platform. There are tons of other news tidbits thrown into the mix, as well as Ty’s Fake or Real. You may just find your self up anime creek without a body pillow!

After all of the game talk, there is a special Life in Japan segment about Japanese baseball and what it’s like to go to a Japanese game versus going to one in the US. Danny is joined by Josh to talk about baseball whiskey girls, Tom Selleck’s mustache (he is Mr. Baseball after all!), awesome amusement park rides around the Tokyo Dome and more. Be sure to tune in to get a taste of the last bits of Japanese summer!

Of course, if you have any questions, comments, complaints or criticisms, be sure to reach out to us! You can leave a message in the Talkback below, send an email to famicast@nintendoworldreport.com, tweet at us @thefamicast, or post in the Questions for the NWR Japan crew forum thread.

Famicast a go-go, baby!

The 1st couple of Smash 3DS videos were lame...but as we get closer to release date, that game looks kind of tempting. I don't have a 3DS and was considering to buy one just for Smash the last couple of weeks....all was ok till Nintendo announced the New3DS...now I'm gonna wait....get the WiiU Smash and then see if I feel I need a portable version of it.

The New3DS looks awesome, faster, better battery, better 3D, customizable skins and Desktop, 2 analogs, more buttons. Sweet.

Good show guys!

Thanks for the kind words, my friend!

Ya know, I would say that is definitely a good call on the 3DS. Now don't get me wrong. There are a ton of other great games outside of Smash that the handheld is worth owning for, but honestly, I don't think waiting a few more months to pick up the New 3DS. If I were a betting man, I would say that the New 3DS is going to come to NA/EU next March.

The "New" 3DS has such a nice colour layout to it, I second the motion that it's stupid that the LL doesn't have it.
Also doubly-stupid that the LL doesn't have changeable covers!
I refuse to buy a plain white New 3DS! I will wait for the Super Fami colour version of the LL, cos no way in hell I'm going back to smaller screens now!

LOLz at Danny complaining about lack of money in the same sentence he says he's going to buy a New 3DS at launch! Buying systems at launch is for suckers, sucka!

As for the Life in Japan post-credits bonus section, I was surprised that I actually enjoyed listening to talk of baseball, cos us Brits basically just see the sports as an overblown version of a game for little girls that we call "Rounders".
I guess that's one to fire back at Americans who call football (soccer) a game for girls!  :P: :

Anyway, the "whiskey girls" sound like a very cool and VERY Japanese thing!

Loved this show, especially the bonus segment. Great show!

This is a tad unrelated to the podcast as a whole, but totally related to Ty Shugart thinking that it's A-OK to continue to have new business on Killer instinct EVERY month, as much as I do think it's interesting that Sadira lost some of her unbreakables and that Jago's Heavy Wind Kick doesn't go full screen anymore.

Mr. CatDrugs, when the time is right, do you intend to go to arcades and give us proper new business on Pokken tournament? what's your previous experience and opinion of Tekken?

Yeah, I'm going to play the hell out of Pokken. I play Tekken from time to time, and I was pretty big on Tekken 5.

Killer Instinct is out in Japan now. :3

Actually I've been playing a lot of non-fighting games this month. Some really weird ones. So, stay tuned for that.

Are you hype because it's the next Tekken game or because it's got the Pokemans?

I'm guessing it's going to have Amiibo support, as there is already a Pokemon NFC game in Japanese game centres (arcades), at least the places aimed at kids: Pokemon Tretta

Love the "life in Japan" segments, especially this one since I'm a huge baseball fan.  If I get to visit Japan I want to go to a baseball game, the whiskey girl just cemented my determination.  I'm a Northeast Ohioan so I know the pain of watching the Indians these last many years (and Browns, and Cavaliers, and Blue Jackets, and... well I have Ohio State).
