I don't think they can beat Carolina.  It would make for a great NFC Championship game though.

I'm pretty sure no major sports league commissioner has even been fired.  They always hang on for decades until they retire.  The NFL probably doesn't want the embarrassment of being the league that fired their commish for incompetence.  It would have to get to the point where firing him would be less damaging to the league's image than keeping him on.  Goodell deserves some special recognition for being the ONLY sports commish to be seen as worse than NHL commish Gary Bettman since Bettman was hired in 1993.

Huh, I thought Fay Vincent (MLB 1989 - 1992) got fired, turns out he resigned.

You'd have to be really, really bad to truly get fired. Even if a guy's getting forced out he'll generally be allowed to at least pretend it was his choice.

Injuries beat the Patriots. Also, not having Old Man Peyton helped too.

And Goodell's not going anywhere. The league gave up TAX EXEMPT STATUS (something granted to them specifically by an act of Congress) in order to hide his salary (and take a little heat off their general dickery).

Oh is that what it was, I thought it was a noble act to inspire more loyalty to capitalism and shut up the boston $^% party crowd.

Mostly, yes.  There was the frequent misunderstanding as to what the NFL was.  Anytime the league came under fire, lazy journalist and angry fans would cite how the League rakes in "billions in revenue" and call them "completely tax-free", with the former quote missing the difference between 'revenue' and 'income' and the latter quote not understanding how (or that) the NFL distributes earnings.

That Pittsburgh-Cincinnati game was a complete and utter travesty. The officials let it get out of hand, with fights and injuries piling up left and right, and then Pittsburgh got a field goal to win it at the end after being spotted 30 yards by two consecutive very stupid and very deserved personal foul calls against the Bengals defense. Just a mess.

That was an intense ending. I feel sorry for the kicker, but it's nice to see the luck of the Hawks return for the playoffs. I just hope they don't rely on it as much for the rest of the games.

It was -3° almost the entire game. Vikings didn't do much either, and they are the NFC North champions. I've already said this...but Seattle is going all the way.

I figured that comeback against Green Bay last year was the most unlikely playoff victory I would witness from my team but somehow that got topped.  Me yesterday: "Ah nuts, looks like we're out of the... HOLY **** HE MISSED!  WE WON!!!!"

I don't know what I did to deserve the magic team that is the Legion of Boom era Seahawks.  The teams of the other sports I follow are more like, well, the Vikings - pretty good most of the time but certain to blow it when it matters.  My fandom is usually the kiss of death for a team.

Vontaze Burfict will be suspended 3 games for what happened in the Bengals-Steelers game, so the NFL considers what he did to Antonio Brown worse than beating your girlfriend, but not quite as bad as smoking marijuana or deflating footballs.
