Evil Dead 2013 is only sort of a re-make. It's implied that it is similar events, it's just a later time. And that the events of the originals happened. Ash's car is parked at the cabin, but then again that car is usually in Sam Raimi productions.  at the end cedits of Evil Dead 2013 Bruce Campbell as Ash randomly pops on the screen and says "Groovy"

It's great to have him be an additional voices guy on this.

Also, if he's Mario's Father, maybe Cranky Kong is Donkey Kong Sr, and Mario Mario Sr. is the guy in The Donkey Kong Arcade Game

I always thought it made sense that the power stars got updated in Mario 64. Power Stars are the Nukes of Mushroom Kingdom.

When I was making Mario Maker Levels I'd use them like keys, as in there is no way you can get through this section without one.

Yeah, looks neat, agree music is meh, but trailer music is rarely indicative of the final product. And why is BatMan a fascist? Did I miss something about that or were they trying to be funny because "LOL billionaire bad"?

Batman was sort of made to have fascistic qualities in the Frank Miller run. He is a vigilante who enforces the law using violence. He's also a rich guy, and the villains are usually poor people. Though you would only know he's a rich guy from our omnipresent observer perspective. Though Mr. Reese figured out what Wayne Enterprises was spending its black fund on in The Dark Knight. Another thing that could be said about a rich guy enforcing Gotham law is, the law in Gotham is corrupt. Even good cops like Jim Gordan turn a blind eye to a guy in a Bat suit beating up poor people.

In the case of the Blue Beetle trailer, it was just a low blow.

The Super Mario Bros Movie: Overall 7.8/10, Fan Service 8.5/10, Story 6/10, Visuals 9/10

It was good. It was filled with Mario fan service, it just had problems with the writing. I'm aware of the Mario universe, so, I wouldn't get lost. But I also spend a lot of time writing screenplays. So, I imagine if you don't, or aren't a kid this would be a problem for you. Which lead me to my other review.

The Wiz  7.9/10 - Same deal. I watched this at the end of March. I was doing some Wizard of Oz art recently. Which, made me realize I've been meaning to watch it for a long long time. I watched it, but it had some problems with it's storytelling. If you hadn't read the book, or hadn't seen the previous movie you would be lost. Luckily, I had done both, so not a problem for me. Luckily there was some pizazz and production value. Connections between characters, and inciting incidents in the story could have been better. And we know they could have been better because we've seen a better version of it.

The biggest problem with these movie is the connective tissue between scenes. Some movies have too much exposition, these are ones that don't have enough. It felt like the biggest issue was how Mario met Peach. Like was this scene written by Nintendo? Because it was just a level tutorial. Very strange. It also just felt like there was no connection between them.  The opening was great, much better writing and interaction between characters. And then it kind of devolves.

Also, how Mario met Donkey Kong. It would be good retconning to have Mario's Father be the character from the game Donkey Kong.

It'd be interesting to see a version of the 1993 Super Mario Bros The Movie, where we've replaced all the characters with proper Mario CGI, and cut out all the dinosaur references.

e3 was big in 1999-2004 for me. I was also interested in the showings at Spaceworld.

I hope this trend of that type of music in trailers goes away. I'm not a fan. It's just so generic sounding. And it's like taking a specific section of a track, that could be good as a piece of a larger whole, and then making the whole track that but repetitively. It's like playing as Liu Kang and just doing the bicycle kick.

The costume looks ok. Somewhere between Green Lantern and Iron Man.

Great casting, Xolo Maridueña was great in Cobra Kai.

I remember years ago when people were arguing Nintendo was going out of business because they decided not to do e3.  They were just ahead of the curve.

Tetris 7.8/10 - The first act of the movie could be better, but acts 2 and three are great.

Still haven't watched that one, but Adam Driver is one of the best actors of his generation. I feel like I should do a side by side scene comparison to Joker and The Force Awakens where they kill their father figures.

Satan's School for Girls/ aka Salem's School For Girls(1973) - 5.0/10. An old movie about a cult running a school. It seems like a proto-type for Suspiria. It was a short made for TV movie. Only 74 minutes.

Babylon 8.5/10 - I like it for the same reasons I like Ed Wood and Boogey Nights

The Banshees of Inisherin  - 8.9/ 10 - I can relate.  Another movie I'll think about for a long time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetris_(film)

Tetris may actually become the best video game movie ever made.

I ran into this by accident Wikipedia leaping, but I remember reading David Sheff's Game Over and the chapters on Tetris were the most gripping chapters. The fact that the main character is Henk Rogers is perfect.

to see a movie made about Henk Rogers is just amazing.

If they had the Metroid Prime trilogy with traditional controls that'd be nice. I just like owning games though.

Because they already ported the trilogy to Wii, it's probably easier to port it to Switch.

Who would've ever thought the group of us would ever still (irregularly) frequent this place for 20 years....

Few things in my life have lasted 20 years, so congrats on laying that long!!

We have to give NWR the credit for not folding.

Also to commemorate 20 years I've created a special ThePerm edition of Iansane's avatar. Because my powers have only grown since 2003.

20 years ago I was 18. And Planet Gamecube had just switched forum formats. I started here earlier in 1999. At the time it was Operation N 2000, and simultaneously Planet N 2000. Then It became Planet Gamecube and then NWR. This is the only website I can say I frequented habitually for 20 years. Not even IGN gets that, as I haven't been there in years.

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for the past 20 years of discussions and interactions on the Nintendo World Report forums. It has been an incredible journey, filled with laughter, excitement, and a shared love for Nintendo.

I am grateful for the friendships I have made, the knowledge I have gained, and the memories I have created through this community. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful experience. Here's to another 20 years of gaming and friendship!

And happy account birthday to IanSane as well!

Netflix is ran by morons. I assume Netflix will run up such a debt that they'll have to file for bankruptcy and be bought by Apple or something. They produce too many shows.

Years ago the lack of original content was a problem, it was supported by a backlog of 1980s B movies, which was great. Then they started carrying AMC, HBO, and Showtime content, then they finally had their own shows.

Now they've gone overboard on making a new titles and then abandoning it.

Vampyres(1974) 8/10 I thought this was going to be one of those bad Jean Rollin Lesbian vampire movies, but this was a pretty good José Ramón Larraz Lesbian vampire movie.

House of Darkness 5/10 - They just took the first act of Vampyres and stretched it over a whole movie. Same conversational points.

Lair of the White Wurm -8/10  another similar movie, but this one directed by Ken Russell has some panache. This version had my favorite version of the countess archetype.

The Lure - 8/10 - about as good as a Naked Polish Mermaid Stripper Musical can get. I'd recommend it if you feel like watching something... different.
