Lots of NWR forum fun as always. Congrats to Insanolord (the curse is broken!) and TOPHATANT. See you all next season. Also, thanks to the host with most (hard to spell name), Khushrenada. This guy kept the game going even during an electrical Blackout! You are an inspiration to us all.

Games I finished for the first time
Steam World Heist

Games I played that I enjoyed, but didn't finish because either I'm not good at the genre or certain aspects frustrated me too much to bother finishing them
Lumines Remastered

Luigi Dude, what did you think of Owlboy and Steam World Heist?
I have both, just wondering if I should move them up the backlog queue.

I also hit a wall with Lumines. It is really tough to complete, but I continue to peck away at the puzzle mode.

You played a bit more than that! We tackled some deep cut SNES stuff together earlier in the year. Doomsday Warrior, The Peace Keepers, Donkey Kong Country... But I understand you might not count that as true "backlog" games. I don't count them either myself. They're just bonus games to me.
Those were good times and I feel bad for leaving them out. One issue is I was not keeping track of them. We were playing through your console so I don't have the save files to remind me of which ones we completed and how long it took. We also played a Twin Bee game right?

With 2021 in the rearview it is time to start another year of gaming. What better time than to post your records of games played, beaten, or completed. Personally I like to hear what system the games were played on, how long they took, whether you beat them any% or 100%, and if they were first plays or replays. Of course, feel free to post as little or as much as you want.

I should have put on that apron  :-[

Sorry to keep you waiting Jaime, and Happy New Years to you and your viewers. As we all know this is the time of year for resolutions and many folks might be thinking about losing a few pounds gained over the holidays. I am happy to say that doesn't mean saying no to rosti. While some folks might tell you to cut back on starch to loose weight, with my program you can eat all the potatoes you want and still loose weight. Personally, I like to top mine with a nice Pico de Gallo salsa. Here is one of my favorite potato recipes for all you lovely people at home:

2 potatoes (any kind, I prefer large Russet potatoes)
1 x 15 oz. can of salt-free Pinto beans (or 1.5 cups of your favorite beans)
8 oz. frozen corn defrosted (I prefer the fire roasted organic corn)
Pico de Gallo (see below)
Cook potatoes however you normally would (bake, steam, pressure cook,
microwave). Heat up the corn and beans and stuff the potato with them and top
with Pico de Gallo salsa. Add jalapenos and cilantro if desired.
Pico de GalloIngredients:
3 firm Roma tomatoes
1 jalapeno pepper
1 shallot
2 cloves garlic
1 lime
Chopped cilantro, to taste
Cut tomatoes in half, squeeze out extra juice and seeds, and then dice.
Place in a bowl and add the lime juice. Dice the shallots and garlic and
add to the tomatoes. Finely dice the jalapeno, removing the seeds if you
want it to be less hot. Add to the tomatoes. Season with chopped cilantro
and stir.
Chef's Note:
Sometimes, I will add a finely diced red bell pepper

Pikmin mafia with new play control! Beam me in.

I love salads because of how easy they are to make and how creative we can be with them. Check out my interview with Matt Bennett of Raw Intuition to see how to make the perfect 5-star salad In the video you will see the importance of raw foods in our diet. Processed and cooked foods are tasty, but they often loose the essential nutrients and enzymes that we need to be healthy and you know that makes sense.

I beat the main story in Fallout 4 thus completing both objectives for Deadline December! Total playtime was about 56 hours and I ended up with 32/50 trophies. This was the first Bethesda game I finished and as most people say, it's both a great game and a buggy mess. I am not sure what I said in Shocktober so I will just post my notes again here.
Pros: Story, characters, voice acting. The ability to choose the outcome of the game is the best I have ever seen in a game. The relationship system is awesome (I love you Cait!). The VATS system for "turn based" combat. Cons: The game is too difficult at first, requiring too much manual saving. Too much of an emphasis on killing. The crafting system is not great. When you side with one faction, you have to turn on the other three.

I finally completed my second play through of Astral Chain. In addition to increasing the difficulty to Pt standard (I don't know why I played casual the first time, standard is not that hard) I went for 100% completion. There are a lot of different collectibles and a lot of game here. It ended up taking be about 66 hours but it was very satisfying. This game is easily in my top 5 Switch games and should not be missed.

According to the in-game achievement system I am only 94% complete because I still have the following: Pt Ultimate difficulty, database (taking pictures of every enemy), and File 12 (post game missions). Still I feel like I am at a good enough stopping point to say I finished the main game and Lappy looks impressed  ;)

Well Jamie, as you know I only cook with plant and fungi ingredients. Of course there are tons of great substitutes for animal products. If want a real meaty dish then I recommend using legumes, mushrooms, grains, or nuts depending on the situation. Check out this recipe for Miso-Glazed Tempeh: When you make this for omnivores They'll be eating it and saying, "Oh! What is that??"

I just remembered this post from Order.RSS:
A cursory Google search says they're planning to make a holiday themed game which got pushed from last December to early this year. If that indeed ever releases I'll buy it and report back next holiday lol.
I can't think of a better Deadline December game for Order.RSS than Seasonal Assistant available now on Wii U.

I have to go with Jamie's Ultimate Veg

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Switch 2021 Statistics!
« on: December 14, 2021, 02:27:26 PM »
It's that time of year again! When Nintendo starts revealing some of the data they've been secretly compiling about us! Yaaaayyy......

So, what are the statics everyone is getting?

For myself, I

  • Played 35 games
  • Played 362 hours
  • Most Played games are Astral Chain (43 hours), Ring Fit (41 hours), and No More Heroes 3 (40 hours)
  • Most active day was Last Saturday 12/11 where I played for 7 hours
  • 322 hours on the TV vs. 39 hours handheld

Here was my favorite game of the year:

I will be playing this game as one of my favorite chefs, Chef AJ. I got to see her do a live cooking demo once and she is a great entertainer as well as a great cook. If you want a good diet where you stick to a limited set of foods, but can eat as much of them as you want, hers is the best I have found. Here is a link to her website.

How far into the game are you Perm?

TopHatAnt123 with Horizon Zero Dawn what is your fave aspect of the game?

I know this has been done in other games but I feel Horizon perfected it, and that is taking over enemies and making them allies. You can reprogram the enemy robots by hacking them and then they will fight with the other enemy robots and you can just stand back and watch. It's quite entertaining.

Astrial Chain is so fun and I really need to finish it.

What's your favourite legion so far?

The beast legion is my favorite. The others are all anthropomorphic so this one being a quadruped and basically a robotic animal companion makes it standout. I had the same afinity for the robot pooches in Recore. Also, using the left shoulder you can ride the beast and go super fast and the super moves you get when maxing out the combos are really cool for Beast.

MKBungle Astrial Chain is so fun and I really need to finish it.
Totally agree. My first playthrough I was mostly digging the story and detective work, but the collectible hunting and combat is my bread and butter now. Now that I am trying to get S+ in each battle I forced myself to really learn how to "chain"  8) the sync attacks.

I have been in the middle of two big games for a while now and hope to have both finished by the end of the month/year.
Fallout 4 - I am about halfway through the main campaign but usually do a few side quests between each main mission. I think I have spent about 50 hours on it, maybe 50 to go. I am hoping to get this completed before I get a PS5 (which is taking forever).

Astral Chain - I played this when it first came out on casual. It was fun but I did not bother with getting collectibles, side quests, or S+ ranks. Well I am back replaying on the standard difficulty and doing all those things. Also about halfway done. It really is a great game with a lot of content. I want to finish this before starting SMT5.

I'll have what they're having.

Nintendo Gaming / Run the Developer 4: Monolith Soft
« on: December 03, 2021, 01:52:05 PM »
Run the Developer - is where we look at a specific game development studio's work and discuss our experiences with their games. In this second installment we turn our gaze to

Monolith Soft - is based out of Japan and best known for the Xenoblade/Xenosaga games. They were formed by ex-Square developers in 1999. They were a third party publisher until 2007 when they were acquired by Nintendo and have since become one of the most prestigious of N's first party studios. Check out their website for more details

Games by Monolith Soft

Xenosaga Series

The first game developed by Monolith soft was Xenosaga Episode 1 for the PlayStation 2 in 2002. Other games in the series include Xenosaga Freaks (PS2, 2004), Xenosaga Episode II (PS2, 2004), Xenosaga: Pied Piper (Mobile, 2004), and Xenosaga Episode III (PS2, 2006). The first two episodes were combined and released on Nintendo DS but only in Japan.

Baten Kaitos

The first Monolith Soft game to hit a Nintendo system was Baten Kaitos. Both the original Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean (2003) and the sequel Origins (2006) were released on Gamecube.

Disaster: Day of Crisis

With Nintendo controlling Monolith Soft, the company released this action-adventure for Wii in 2008. The game was released in Europe and Australia but not North America, due to Reggie's lack of confidence in it.

Project X Zone

This pair of 3DS tactical RPGs by Monolith are successors to Namco x Capcom (PS2, 2005). Project X Zone was released in 2012 and Project X Zone 2 was released in 2015.

Xenoblade Series

The series that most people now associate with Monolith Soft debuted with Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii in 2010-2012. The game is considered one of their best and has since been re-released on 3DS (as a new 3DS exclusive) and Switch (2020). Other games in the series include Xenoblade Chronicles X (Wii U, 2015) and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch, 2017).

When will they announce Xenoblade Chronicles 3?
Do you want Monolith Soft to make games outside the Xenoblade series?
Have you played any of the Japan only titles they developed?

The Shin Megami Tensei V Steelbook is on sale for $50 on Amazon and Gamestop. It has been selling out so I am not sure why it is on sale, but I am glad I held out until now.

Congrats to the mafia on the win.
I take partial blame for the townie loss.
I should have voted for stevey and not been voted out on day 3, but I lost track of time. With another investigation we might have been able to pull it off. I feel somewhat satisfied with my Insanolord vote since he turned out to be mafia. Order.RSS helped me out a lot using the investigations and managing the townie alliance. I also had a lot of fun in the dead player discord.
Thanks for hosting Khushrenada!
