TalkBack / Re: Pikmin 3 Will Not Have Online Multiplayer
« on: June 13, 2012, 05:24:18 PM »

I can see the point being made. Starcraft, Starcraft 2, and plenty of other real-time strategy games have online multiplayer with hundreds of units moving around in a single match. I can't imagine Pikmin 3 to be significantly more complicated that some sort of online multiplayer couldn't be worked out. Though if it is, that's pretty awesome.

Pikmin has a lot more stuff going on in it then all those other online RTS games though.  Pikmin has much bigger enemies on screen and larger more complex environments.  The environments in games like Starcraft are mostly just flat area's that everyone looks at from a top down perspective.  Plus these are point and click games where you're not manually controlling a fully 3D character in 3rd person perspective either.

If Pikmin 3 is anything like the previous Pikmin, and some of the later area's of the game filled with larger enemies and you have control of 100 Pikmin, it's not hard to see why Nintendo is worried about online lag problems.

but for network data none of that matters at all. you just bascialy have "where is unit" and "what actions is unit doing/have done to it" and "what has changed with this unit" none of which require constant verification among all clients.

in starcraft you could easily have 800 units in a single game.

nintendo isn't worried about lag. They have no idea what they are doing in the networking world. They don't even have hardware support for tcp. they emulate tcp and send that over udp. They do networking the most ass backwards way they could think of.

I'd say it makes a lot more sense than their previous excuses for New Super Mario Bros. Wii not being online.

no it doesn't. It's just them being stuck 30 years in the networking past. I live in a world were starcraft online is a thing.

TalkBack / Re: Wii U May Not Feature Built-In Storage
« on: June 13, 2012, 11:57:01 AM »
Yeah. It still sucks. 8 GB or 0 GB, it's lame.  :(

Iwata, just give us a yes or no!

I don't understand why Nintendo has been so reluctant to give up specifics about the Wii U at this point, considering the console is releasing in less than 6 months.  What, are they afraid that (like their stance on game reveals) people will lose interest in the Wii U if they know more than the bare minimum more than month in advance?

yes. they fear people will dreamcast. Or they don't want their competition to use it against them "Playstaion 4 has is using a real GPU, a gtx 670 while wiiu is only using a mobility hd 4870 look at these charts, warblegarble!"

what is the difference between the directors cut and the collectors edition? and around the time the wiiu comes out, it will probably be a part of a steam sale less dollars. (something that nintendo needs to get on board with)

The Wii U version will come with the extra levels/abilities DLC that hasn't released on the other consoles yet, along with some Wii U exclusive mode that didn't sound particularly substiantial.

hrm... I think I'll wait till the winter steam sale. then.

TalkBack / Re: E3 May Not Return to Los Angeles

Why not move it to Atlanta, Georgia?  If I remember correctly, the very early E3s were held in Atlanta.

because Atlanta doesn't have Skyline. I propose that all future e3s be required to be within 20 miles of at least 10 skyline locations.

communication between friends should be unscreened and uncensored.

the only way I would re-buy mass effect, is if they updated ME1 to the ME2 engine. and sold it as a trilogy. I'd pay 60 for that. (and I play ME on the PC, so getting me to buy a console version is no mean feat.)

obvious answer consultant? I think I can handle that job...

Hey, nintendo! I'm 65k a year and I'll save you 10s of millions of disappointed fans and angry comments. It's a steal at twice the price!

so, are these just profiles. or actual centralized accounts? Are our digital titles still going to be tied to the hardware? local profiles don't cut it.

we'll they sure as **** have done well in tucking it out of sight. the public at large doesn't know about it or they think it is an addon for the wii.

« on: June 06, 2012, 03:27:18 PM »
it should be a free download. and the system should direct you to the store and show you how to download it. that should be the first thing that happens when you turn it on. they need to get people to their estores.

only nintendo would bother pressing discs of a game they intent to give away for free.

« on: June 03, 2012, 10:07:38 PM »
meh, I still want the option to not have miiplaza 2.0 be my default screen on the tv. I want a clean, simple interface that doesn't clutter things up. the sony xmb is actually very good in this regard imo.

I would hate the Mii's on the main screen if they weren't actual people playing and discussing games. That is awesome!

every single time? I wouldn't mind the app if that's just what it was, another app. and we could make user built communities. I don't care what randoms have to say.
