TalkBack / Re: Update v1.2.0 Released for New Super Mario Bros. U
« on: March 16, 2013, 02:54:23 AM »
why would they have to patch the game to change how miiverse handles in game posts? that should be a back end change, assuming miiverse gets data on where posts originate from.

ya know, if you're gonna pimp the virtual rewards so hard(to cut costs of course) just give us a coupon good for 1 game. hell, let us save them up. oh, right, nintendo, lol.

yea, that will surely help the sorry state the japanese game industry is in. man, those indie devs will surely flock to put games on a store with this much hassle involved.

This is my first Fire Emblem game (and I'm loving it, by the way). So keep in mind my status as a novice when I say this, as I very well may be playing it wrong...

...but I'm at chapter 13 now, and Frederick is still a beast in my playthrough. Everybody says he isn't useful as the game wears on, so I'm wondering how long this can last.

Also, not to step on Josh's toes, but there was a similarly poignant article on Kotaku about Frederick the Wary that people might enjoy.

I keep using him, and he keeps destroying things. so, idk. I'm only on chp12, and have done tons of grinding so I'm pretty op.

What is that rule about headlines which ask a question?

that said, "all home consoles" smells like pr speak for "next gen systems that haven't been announced officially and sony and MS would be very mad at us if we did that in a poster."

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Needs to Stop Caring About What Other People Think

No matter how much Nintendo attempts to cater to third parties, even going so far as to publish the games themselves, third parties always act like it's such a f**king CHORE to develop something that ISN'T a Microsoft or Sony product or even, dare I say, ORIGINAL?

Oh come now. Do you really expect "ORIGINAL" software on a Nintendo platform, a company driven by pure nostalgia?  :P: : : : :

Besides, the era of 3rd party exclusives is just about over on the other 2 HD platforms as well, these days limited to pretty much Epic games, the Splinter Cell franchise, downloadable games, and DLC. It's unusual that the Wii U launched with a 3rd party exclusive at all.

I think we can agree that if the Wii U had a better launch lineup, especially from Nintendo, the console would probably not be in the toxic situation it is now.  It needed more than ZombiU and another New Super Mario Bros. game.

honestly, I feel like no matter what, they were gonna have this problem with droughts and 3rd party issues.

I'm gonna echo broodwars and say "why not both?"

Of course, the problem with nintendo is systemic, they are stuck in 1994 it seems like sometimes. I feel new blood in charge and a serious attempt to release on par hardware next gen will go a ways to heal their ills.

in this gen, drop the basic set, get their heads out of their ass on digital, profit.

To answer a question about AC3 from the podcast, yes you can destroy masts, you get chain shot later on that can destroy sails and masts. You can also get grape shot and heat shot.

but you can't really target specific spots.

the sailing parts of the game are the best.

If this episode doesn't have talking about dinosaurs and/or space, or dinosaurs in space then it is already half as good as it could be.

I put the NWR URL in my profile and 5 minutes later I got a message saying my profile had been blocked from public view due to it. I took it out and told them I had, but I have yet to receive a response to confirm that my profile has been un-blocked from public view.

you don't get a notice, it just happens. I had my twitter handle in mine, and got blocked for that. it's really dumb.

as a person who doesn't really have people to play local multiplayer with, the lack of online play in anything really sticks out like a sore thumb.

These games wouldn't be nearly as fun online as they are in a living room full of shouting people.  Sure, it'd provide SOME appeal, and you'd probably try them once or twice and then get bored.  I honestly don't think it would have been a good investment for Nintendo to bring these games online.  It's a bummer, but I understand their decision.

I think it would have benefited from having some online anything for playing games.
