Nintendo Gaming / RE:News Channel Live

Haha, yeah. I almost feel like I should be playing some sort of cheesy technology-based third person shooter listening to this music :P
I definately like the style of their channels, although at times I wish the bars on the top/bottom weren't so massive... and slightly plain, but then again I suppose plenty of people have bad eyes so it makes sense and I really shouldn't complain.

Edit: Trying not to hit reply for this random note... hah... reading the "Nintendo's Wii to Provide AP News" article... ON the Wii News Channel :P

Just did the update, it's a whole day early lol. Even impressed with the channel icon :P
Hope it's not some sort of mistake that ends up crashing my Wii ^^
Screen

Edit: Gah! The tip-cat (the cat that shows up in the photo channel) is on the News channel too! I have a feeling we're gonna be seeing that feline quite a bit in the future...

Edit 2: Just got the content downloaded and the interface is very nice. Maybe even nicer than the Forcast Channel? You can select from both National and International news, and the globe is also accessible so you can rotate the globe and see different news in different areas just by selecting the article image over that part of the world. If you zoom out enough there's actually stacks of images on top of certain key areas in the world... for instance, Washington D.C. (USA) at the moment has 114 articles and the stack is reaching pretty high off the globe :P

Also, different sections are selectable, like sports, arts/entertainment, business, science/health and technology.

There's still a bit more to it but hey, you can check for youself if you've got a Wii! Also won't post pics 'cause they won't come out good with a camera and I'm too lazy to set up my capture card to do some screen-captures, hehe.

Also it was really just a prettied up port from the GBA so that might be reason enough :-P

Anyways, I'm tempted to get this, but logic is saying no, lol. I've had the SNES cart since it first came out and there will never be a Zelda to date that will rival the experience I had with this one, because it was the first in the series I ever got really into and beat. Had it not been for A Link To The Past, I may not have been as much of a fan as I am today. Although I'll still hope Nintendo manages to consider adding the GB/GBC games to the VC list, 'cause I would really love to see Link's Awakening on there ^^ (my original GB cart doesn't hold a save very well these days). Would be easy to sell a few of those at like 200-300 points each, I'm sure.

Ah, I remember I killed my first one when I was younger 'cause I left it out in the sun (not exactly dead-pixel but just about). Got a new one that Christmas though. I miss my GB now

Nintendo Gaming / RE:The legend of zelda remake for wii?
« on: December 22, 2006, 11:14:02 PM »
I'd personally love to see a Zelda: ALttP remake so long as the general world/dungeon design was kept close to the original. There's very few games I'd approve of such a thing, lol. Well out of boredom, some screens from some Soldier of Fortune II maps I was working on. First two are from the Desert Palace and the 3rd from a Clocktown map I started. I never released my Desert Palace map though 'cause it was slow and required a work-around to actually play in it (was more complete than in the screens).

Don't believe there's a need for further testing, lol. If anyone's confused about how the thing operates still and hasn't read up on it, they can check IGN's findings on it (should be easy enough to understand for everyone).

My only gripe about the sensorbar is mostly my own fault, hah, 'cause I'm relatively close to my TV and it's wall mounted (high enough up to cause stiffness in the neck, sadly, I blame my father for the location of it)

Nintendo Gaming / RE:System Update
« on: November 29, 2006, 11:13:31 PM »
It would be cool if Nintendo sent you some wii-mail either prior or after things like this, or when new games were released in the shop. Would look a bit more professional. I mean it wouldn't be that hard, lol, just have people sign up for a newsletter and enter their e-mail Wii #'s and Nintendo could easily just send it out to all those wii-mails to inform on pretty much everything we want :P

Plus it would just look nice on their behalf.

Anyways, I'll speculate that maybe there was probably an issue with the wii shop that didn't properly check or use the parental lock (maybe they're trying to/have  put in something so that you can't buy anything while the parental lock is on? Dunno... doesn't matter either way, nothing critical done really regardless I'm sure.

And haha, you know it's only a matter of time before Reggie'll release his wii friend code to the masses and then EVERYONE's gonna want his Mii :P (and unless he has a different method for allowing that sort of thing or an unreleased update to accomodate more Wii #'s you know those spots would be extremely limited)

I really felt like commenting on this topic... it's kind of strange because I know a *LOT* of girls who love video games. Two of my Four best friends are girls (I'm male if anyone needed to know) and they both play. One of them has only really played a bit of Final Fantasy VII but knows the game inside and out from how far she's gone (she has no time to really sit down and play sadly). The other girl is an obsessive player. She holds competitions with who can beat FFVII the fastest (in real-time, not in play-time). Also... I feel a little proud to say this... I pretty much showed my girlfriend the light to video games. She had a NES and one game. Zelda. She hated Zelda at the time. Later she had a Playstation with a few games like Spyro and Croc. After I started dating her though, I introduced her to Gamecube and intrigued her. I also let hew borrow some of my Playstation games like Wild ARMs 2, Chrono Cross, etc. She after that bought FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX on her own, Animal Crossing on GC and so on. Afterwards I reintroduced her to Zelda once the Collector's Edition came out. She has her own copy now. I recently got her a PSTwo (Early Christmas present), and she's looking forward to a lot of games now. So in a way... I helped her to realize that games go beyond Spyro

Right now she's working on Baten Kaitos, Wild ARMs 3, Final Fantasy X, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (GB verison) and Star Ocean III. I'm probably forgetting something, but she's doing pretty good considering. I don't think I've ever been that behind on my collection before. I'm used to beating game in less than a week... some of the easier games in two days. Baten Kaitos took me 6 days (48 hours) to complete. I slacked off one of the days though because I was tired and expected to get into the game with no problems. I put it down 20 minutes in because I was bored and overcomplicated it. Currently I'm working on Lord of the Rings: The Third Age on GC and Super Mario 64 DS. I'm also playing through Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for my 6th time now but (yay me). Hope this post interested someone... if not... *fake-cries*

Found a kiosk in my local mall in Massachusetts... already e-mailed Nintendo about it. My heart goes out to the big N on this one...
