I think between 6 and 3 months is a good enough amount to get people hyped. To me revealing a year in advance only cools down the excitement. What Sony and Microsoft did with XBO and PS4 seem ideal to me.

I was going to go for the September 11th date since Nintendo seem to like to release games then, but someone beat me to it. Bummer.

I can see arguments for it being revealed in September, October, and November, so it's a tough call which to choose. Since no one's really been saying November yet, I'll go with that month as it's a common time for launches of big games and systems, so why not big announcements? I could see it happening on November 18th since they could also celebrate the anniversaries of GameCube and Wii on that day, but to cover the full week my official guess will be:

November 20th, 2016

Nintendo Direct on November 17, 2016.  They'll begin by bragging about how the NES Classic Edition has sold a gazillion units already, then blow out the details of the NX, and wrap things up with another tease of Zelda.

I don't know. To me it makes more sense to unveil it before we get to the week before Black Friday madness.

I forgot about Pokémon, that's a good point. There's still a chance Nintendo would do that because they're weird like that, but I'm thinking of changing my guess.

Nah, it's better to choose a date with lower odds because the payout will be much larger if I'm right! Besides, going with a more predictable outcome is boring.

If the PlayStation event is happening on the 7th of September, I think the NX event will be between the 21st and 30th of September.

That would give them enough time to make any little changes in the presentation based on what Sony shows.

Oh nertz, I misinterpreted what you meant by "going over." I thought that meant the reveal day had to be before the date I chose, and not after it. So for example, I thought a December 15th reveal would get me a win, but a January 15th reveal would be a loss for me.

I know it's past the deadline, but with this new information in mind, can I please change my guess to December 1st then? No one else made a bid after I did, so allowing me this change now that the rules were better explained wouldn't negatively affect anyone else.
