What I found funny was when he mentioned how Nintendo came to GameSpy later and asked for all these online functions, and the GameSpy guys told Nintendo they already had that technology and many games actually used them. This seemed to surprised the Nintendo reps, who spoke to each other in Japanese before saying OK to GameSpy.

YES. Instant win

Nevermind, found it but it was buried in the eShop

404
I'm not seeing it in the US eShop either

TalkBack / Re: Philips Sues Nintendo Over Wii Remote Tech
« on: May 21, 2014, 03:44:09 PM »
This needs some serious reform.  They sue seven years after the Wii came out?  **** off.  That should be automatic dismissal.  This product is far too popular for them to have not have known about it all this time and if you snooze, you lose.

What about that guy who waited over 20 years to sue EA over claims they used his coding without paying him for the 2D Madden games? That was so ridiculous.

I want to know who will get to be picked to compete in the tournament? I hope they don't go by these silly tournaments like Evo (which gimp Smash so much that it's not fun)

I've always been mildly interested in the Dynasty Warriors games (never enough to buy one though). Being in the Zelda universe is enough to make me buy it.

I lost interest in the original games. I liked the idea of tag battles, but the world was not interesting and the new Pokemon did not intrigue me. Not sure how they could make the re-makes interesting enough to me.

Yeah, remember that horse saddle patent Nintendo filed a few years ago?

Vahne, I know some people do love Generation III. That's why I said "generally", rather than saying everyone hated it. Maybe a remake could improve it.

And remakes are not really big news, so I am not upset they didn't wait to E3 for it.

Ruby and Sapphire are widely held as the worst of the mainline Pokemon games, and I do think think they are the worst too, so i'm not sure how many people will be excited by these remakes.

Sounds like a good game, but I have never cared for golf games (even the Mario Golf ones). Glad it's good for those who like it though

One of the guys who worked on the Remix games has said they could do a SNES Remix or Game Boy Remix if there is enough demand for those, so i'm sure the series will continue.

New Super Mario Bros. U, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3 and Wii Party U

Of those, the only one I don't own is Wii Party U. I don't really have any desire to have Wii Party U, but if I can get it for free, i'll download it anyways.

To be fair, I didn't have any problems with Brawl online for the first month or so. It was only after 6 weeks or so that it got laggy as hell

TalkBack / Re: All Star Wars Video Games No Longer Canon

Soren, those games always were officially non-canon. This is just them expanding it to include all non-movies and TV series. But the video games like Rogue Squadron were never canon. Essentially, anything that didn't happen in the movies or TV series is no more official than fanscripts are.

If the Best Buy thing is like last year, then there is no point. It was in like 50 stores only, the nearest one to me was like 8 hours away (and I live between 2 major cities), and the time limit was incredibly short.

This has always been the policy actually. Stuff in the Expanded Universe was only canon if it was used in the movies or TV shows. The change now is saying that future EU stuff will be canon (as they will have a team keeping track of it).

TalkBack / Re: F-Zero: Maximum Velocity Review Mini
« on: April 26, 2014, 10:51:30 AM »
I got this as a 3DS Ambassador, and it's not a good game. 7/10 is way too generous, and I can atest to the bad controls. Honestly, even getting this game for free I was not happy, and would be pissed if I paid money for it. If you want a F-Zero game on Wii U, get F-Zero X on the Wii Shop Channel instead as I would not recommend anyone buy Maximum Velocity.

Me too, Sony is so stubborn. Pretty much every product uses SD cards, but Sony is greedy and wants to try to milk even more money from consumers. Like with the PSP, why should I have to pay for their overpriced Memory Stick Pro Duos that no one but Sony uses when I can get a SD card for a fraction of the price?

If the Wii was able to at least output a 720p resolution we wouldn't be having this discussion. I think Nintendo gamers couldn't understand why their favorite game franchises were not in HD. That single fact alone caused a mass exodus of Nintendo fans to the other platforms.

Can 240 lines of resolution really cause that big of a difference in perception? YES IT CAN? I completely agree. Even  now I want 10 wii games in HD, as if it's some sort of unfinished experience. In hindsight, I can see why some gamers feel incomplete without HD. (Metroid Prime 3 in HD back in 09 and the gaming world is a different place)

It's not that big of a difference, and back when the Wii came out very few people had HDTVs. So I can understand why Nintendo didn't do it. I would like Wii games in HD, but being SD didn't make the games less good.

I bought the SMAS disc on Wii too (which is why I won't buy the Wii U version of SMB3). I vastly prefer the SMAS versions of the SMB games. I still think it's worth buying on 3DS though to have a portable version.

I like SMB3, but SMW is the better game. And the graphical glitches are very noticeable in the 3DS version, yes enough for me to argue against a 10/10. There is even slow down sometimes (which is annoying in a platformer).

As a 3DS Ambassador, I would not recommend Maximum Velocity. Not a good game. I wish SMB3 was the SMAS version. I won't get the Wii U version because I still own the SMAS Wii disc, but maybe for 3DS to have a portable version.
