Is it possible to get an actual spoiler tag, or at least make black the default "glow" color?
As vudu pointed out and I have just tested, choosing to login "forever" doesn't work.
The spoiler tag, as promised in the original thread, was practically the first thing I fixed. The login thing should work consistently now.
The simple machines forum logo is not NEARLY good enough for them to be plastering it all over the place like that.
If you guys can get rid of that ugly thing and all its instances, we will all be grateful, I'm sure.
I'll replace those logos with giant banner ads post-haste.
Increase post character limit from 20,000 to unlimited (or 200,000 atleast)
bring back Marquee and flash, if only just in the funhouse
And the emotions below
I removed the limit as soon as it became a problem, but I guess nobody tested it out afterwards.
I can't do that on a per-forum basis, unfortunately. I can change the theme though, like the old board. All of the old emotions are back.
Any ETA on old topics coming back?
so... when is talkback going to start working again?
ETA: yesterday!
Sometimes, when I click on a forum link, I get taken to the appropriate page, and sometimes I get a bunch of code. Here's a snippet:
When viewing a topic in the announcements category, there are four navigation links at the top of the page: Nintendo World Report Forums, Announcements, Announcements, Topic: (topic title). One "announcements" takes you to the NWR forum main page, and one takes you to the announcements forum.
Not a new issue, but it really annoys me that links open in a new window.
The code thing was just a temporary server problem.
The first Announcements link was just for the category. The second link is the actual board.
Eh. I'd rather have links open in a new window. Or rather a new tab in modern browsers.
Bring back the quick-reply, if possible.
Add in the author of the news post in Talkback.
More PMs.
The quick-reply is enabled, but wasn't the default when I installed the board. It's the default now, but if you don't see it, change your settings.
Newsbot is dead!
There is currently no PM limit.
But I am totally for putting back marquee and flash. As well as bringing back quick reply.
Marquee is just too annoying. If there was some way to disable sound in posted Flash, I'd enable it.
It's probably there but I can't find it, I would like a way to have more posts per page.
Is there a way to set the posts-per-page to your own specified number?
Unfortunately, no. This is a top requested SMF feature though, so I'm hoping it will be in SMF 2.0, which will be out later this year. If you know of a mod that will allow this, let me know and I'll install it.
Really the only problem I have with the new joint is the SMF logos everywhere. I love the colors and layout already. Hell, I wish the frontpage matched the forums.
The icons are average at best - particularly the Home thru Logout ones at the top of the page.
The icons next to each thread aren't easy to distinguish (maybe its just foreign right now).
No option to change post size - I miss 50 per page.
That aside:
"Web 2.0" Blue has been done to death. Is there a better theme around?
Eventually, we'll have our own NWR theme. However, if you find some good themes on the SMF site, let me know, and I'll consider installing them for everybody to use.
1. Why is it that when I click on "next" or "previous", located on the bottom-right side of any page, it sends me to the next or previous thread instead of the next or previous page of the same thread?
I know I could just click on the page numbers on the bottom-left side, but I'm lazy.
If this is too confusing, I could just remove that feature.
P.S. Can the mods make a moving text, flash, increased character size, and color able to be disabled through each members profile so the user who hate this text can disable it while other can still enjoy like avatar/sig/images/censures all are able to? PLZ??
This isn't an option in SMF, though it could be handled by a custom theme.
Can we disable the "name" feature? A little part of me died when Bill changed his name to Akai on here... and looking at the options, it appears anyone can change their name at will, which could likely lead to a lot of confusion.
This will probably be a good idea.
HAY MODS
ANY INSTANCE OF "C.U.M." IS CENSORED. [AHAHAHHAHAHAAH]
for instance,
"document"
Fixed this.
<--- What are the scores about?
Just a silly little feature to let you know your behavior on the forums. Get too low and BAN HAMMER.
The "NintendoWorldReport Forums" banner at the top is no longer a clickable link. I'm a sad panda.
This will be fixed soon. Thanks, Robageejammin (btw, is that a Falco reference?)
Is there any way to remove some of the "stuff" and/or dead space from the left hand side? Posts that are only one or two sentences are still like 3.5" tall. This one included.
That stuff can be changed by themes. If you find/make a good one, let me know. I also tried to remove some of the dead space that was reserved for post count ratings.
Is there anyway to turn off post views on the main pages? I really don't care how many people have read a topic; I only care about how many people have replied.
No, but does a column of numbers really bother you that much?
There's a "new" icon by the page number links. If you click on it, it takes you to the first new post.
Holy Hell, you're right! That's great. Still, I'd like a new! icon to appear by the post title if possible.
1) You can tell if a thread is unread, but how can you tell which specific posts are? In Fusetalk, there was a blue (NEW!) indicator which was very useful.
2) Can you PLEASE take this opportunity to include which system the game is on in your Impressions/Previews/Reviews Talkback threads?
When you do what PartyBear said, it brings you to the new posts. I don't really see a point in the NEW! indicator because of that. However, the nice thing about SMF is that it is very moddable. Check the SMF site. If you find any mods that you'd like included on these forums, such as a NEW! indicator, let me know and I'll consider installing them.
My focus is now to rework some of the main site, so I'll keep the Talkback formatting in mind. We also have some other plans for Talkback.
