Nintendo Gaming / This Zoonami Exclusive Game

Straight from Zoonami's website:

Rumour 2: the GoldenEye 007 clone
Well, not so much rumour as wishful thinking. We receive lots of e-mail along the lines of "please please please please PLEASE make another GoldenEye 007!". But as "Ed's rumour report" on IGN said:

"Zoonami is not working on another GoldenEye. In truth, the company likely isn't even working on another first-person shooter. But whatever is coming from the England based studio, you can bet that it's going to be original."

BTW, the only person at Zoonami who worked on Goldeneye is Martin Hollis, former head of software development at Rare.

They just did. A lot of SSBM players really like playing as them. Just because the people who come over your house doesn't like using them doesn't mean other people don't. Remember that I'm using the internet crowd and people I know in real life to come to that conclusion. I really doubt Fire Emblem would be getting the attention it's getting now if Marth and Roy weren't included in SSBM.

BTW, I gained interest in Fire Emblem once I found out about Fire Emblem VI for GBA when I was doing some research and then looked up to find some information on the series

Whether or not this poll will have a major effect, in the end it's still worth a shot right? After all, it's only taking up a few seconds of our time

I was wondering if I should just get the DC version of SoA instead, since it's probably about $10. I'm just afraid of the random battles, because some people have been saying how ridiculous it was in the DC version. So basically I'm asking if the $50 are really worth it for the GC version, when I can get the DC version for $30-40 less. Anyone who has played both versions, any feedback would be helpful.

Hmm... Maybe you can just wait until the new version drops in price first. However, that might take some time.

The DC versions random battles are really bad though. In dungeons is was semi-tolerable but when traveling by airship they were quite an annoyance (since you'll be exploring more in the airship). Legends also provides more extras than just lowering the ratio of random battles. There's the moon fish collecting, the wanted battles, Pianta, and perhaps other things I have yet to find out.

It's up to you though on whether or not you consider these extras worth it. I just detailed the extras, you make the choice.

Well... seeing that Fire Emblem is slaughtering the other three... can you guys vote for Giftpia just so it beats out puzzle collection? Pweeese?

But I do want Fire Emblem the most out of those 4 of course

Remember that Marth and Roy gained a cult following thanks to SSBM.
Nintendo Puzzle Collection is just another compilation port.
Legend of Staffi and Giftpia are pretty much unknown here.

So Fire Emblem winning by a landslide (that is quite an understatement...) really isn't much of a surprise.

Mainly text. There are a few points where VA comes in but I'm not sure if that'll count for you. Pretty much when they cast a spell, use a special attack, and a few points in the game when they do an action like "YAY!" or "Uh huh" *nods head*

Stuff like that

Yeah, I'm wondering on that too. Hopefully they really do have something big in development rather than just being lazy.
Former better than latter

DX certainly is taking quite a while as well

Oh well. E3 will surely drive back the shadows and reveal what is to come (or at least that's what I'm hoping).

I really enjoyed Sly Cooper thoroughly and found it to be a well designed and most importantly of all, fun platformer (even if it is a bit on the easy side).
I haven't played too much into Racthet and Clank though so I can't really compare

I do think that sometimes the nominations and at times winners are a bit on the odd side... but eh, what can I do about it? Not like it effects my enjoyment any anyway

I do find it odd that only one PC game got nominated for Overall GOTY. I was kinda expecting at least Warcraft III to get up there too.

I honestly don't see the problem with Arcade ports... I mean... how many of us here actually go to the arcades regularly?

Besides, we're getting Soul Calibur II later this year and that's already in the arcades. Let's start complaining that it's an arcade port

On a serious note though. These games are ports but they are either:
A) Arcade Ports
B) Dreamcast Ports

As much as I love the DC and think that it was incredibly underappreciated, porting these games does allow those who missed them on the DC to be able to try them out (although I would kinda prefer if they just left Sonic Adventure 2 on the DC ). Although I want Sega to bring over new games to the GCN as much as the next guy. Hopefully E3 will show some new stuff from Sega for the GCN. There's only so many games they can port

Those are FMV shots from the PSX version.

Also, Thornado has been canned but Factor 5 kept the engine they were using for it.

Yeah right you were hired by them. I mean for starters it HTLOZ not HTWOZ. Heck i bet you dont even know what HTLOZ stands for! (Hyrule the Land of Zelda)

Did you even bother checking the URL? Apparently not otherwise you would know that www.htwoz.com is a valid URL and an actual site and that it's just currently "closed" (sorry for using the incorrect term before in saying that it's "down"). HTWOZ is founded by Brian and Blazer. Blazer was part of the staff of HTLOZ until it went down. Brian and Blazer decided to form HTWOZ when they found out that Falco-X wasn't interested in reviving HTLOZ.

HTWOZ stands for "Hyrule the World of Zelda". BTW, how much did you want to put down as bet

I can understand if some people don't trust what others say about themselves, this is the internet after all. But at the very least do more than just "reply" right off the bat with the assumption that I'm lying. The very least you could've done was actually check the URL to know that there is actually that site that I mentioned.

SC5 is also a staff writer for HTWOZ as well. Hired before the site closed temporarily.

TalkBack / PGC is Hiring!
« on: February 03, 2003, 03:04:28 PM »
I live in New York City (well... Staten Island but it's quite close plus it is a borough of New York City ). However, I am currently "hired" by www.htwoz.com. But the problem is that I have received no notification on when the site will be up again and I was hired during the period that it was down. But I suppose I can send in an application as a "back up" in case the situation at HTWOZ does not go well for me. That and if PGC is unable to find anyone else available in or around the New York area. But I'll have to pose a question: Am I permitted to do something like that in the first place?

Just a question though, is this just New York City or the state of New York? As traveling to areas outside of the city is quite out of my ability at the current time until college is out, even if it is within the state. Other than that I am capable of traveling to other areas in New York State provided I have a good notice ahead of time.

Also, please note that I have no prior writing experience in terms of published works, both professional and unprofessional. Would that pose a problem? Please note that I will provide a writing sample or two (a review and an editorial) to give an example of my writing capabilities to be judged.

Thank you for your time in responding to my questions and I may be submitting an application before the week is done based on the response to my questions.

Nintendo Gaming / When will the Zelda Presale start?
« on: February 03, 2003, 12:37:22 PM »
I suggest pre-ordering as soon as you can. Just make sure you ask if they are doing the deal. I know that some specific stores have already halted the pre-order deal, although no whole retail chain (just specific stores part of that chain) has done that as of yet (at least not to my knowledge).

So just pre-order as soon as you can and make sure you ask a sales associate or manager there on their status with the pre-order deal.

The old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games were great fun to be had with me and my friends

Our personal favorite is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhatten Project.

I believe this is to be a beat'em up. At least that's what I garner from what I read. After all... it does say that the turtles are fighting their way across sewers and streets according to Konami's own press release on Gamer's Day.

Let's hope Konami doesn't disappoint...

I just got X-Box Live, but won't be going on until this weekend earliest. Busy busy busy

I have Mech Assault BTW and that's the only game I'll have until Capcom v.s. SNK 2 (then the obliteration in fighting games begins for me...). I would get Unreal Championship but I want Unreal Tournament 2003 more . PC FPS > Console FPS

Moto GP also looks quite interesting as well.

General Gaming / February = RPG heaven
« on: February 03, 2003, 11:26:02 AM »
I really wish they didn't change the name of Dark Chronicles to "Dark Cloud 2" for North America... really would hate to associate Dark Chronicles with Dark Cloud... ah well...
Trust me though, Dark Cloud 2 is a much different game than Dark Cloud. They have similar elements, but Dark Cloud 2 is worlds better (maybe a bit of an exaggeration there but hey, it's still quite a bit better).

Zelda= Adventure

Anyways... not going to go into that debate here... the 2 RPGs I anticipate most right now are Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (greatest battle system in an RPG EVAR! Well... at least that was the case with Star Ocean: The Second Story so I'm looking at this one to be just as good, if not better) and Star Wars Galaxies.

I also anticipate Xenosaga, Dark Cloud 2, and I want Skies of Arcadia. But Star Ocean: Till the End of Time is way on the top of my list as far as console RPGs go.
Breath of Fire isn't really a great series IMO. The first one was decent but not really deserving of high praise. The second one was quite bad. I never played 4 though and only a little of 3.
.hack I'll wait and see, it's an interesting game but I think this game is more of a style over substance type of game. I'll probably buy it in the end though as I do with any game I anticipate whether they turn out great, good, decent, flawed, and so on and so forth. Only difference is that how it turns out determines whether I wait for the prices to drop or not

One of the best on-rails shooters I've ever played. I never played the old ones though... wish I did... oh well... guess I'll just beat the game and play the original Panzer Dragoon for the time being.

Nintendo Gaming / Fire Emblem
« on: February 03, 2003, 10:27:29 AM »
I think that Fire Emblem VI would do quite well if they brought it out here. Think about it, Roy gained quite a cult following in Super Smash Bros. Melee (although I personally prefer playing as Marth) and those people will eat up Fire Emblem on the spot just cause Roy is in it. I really do wish that Fire Emblem would be brought to North America, I also e-mailed Nintendo about it a few months ago and the response was of course (and unfortunately) that they currently have no plans to bring it over...

Nintendo Gaming / Metroid Prime 2
« on: February 03, 2003, 10:19:12 AM »
I don't want it to be called Metroid Prime 2... definitely not...

Also, as others stated before... the order in the chronology of Metroid goes like this:
Metroid
Metroid Prime
Metroid II: Return of Samus
Super Metroid
Metroid Fusion

Note how Metroid Fusion says "Metroid IV" in the beginning. I'm thinking that Metroid Prime is more like a side story thing (although a pretty damn amazing side story ). I'm kinda hoping for a continuation of the main storyline after Metroid Fusion. Mainly Metroid V. Although at the same time though, I don't want another Metroid game. I don't want this to turn into another franchise that'll be milked even if the sequel turns out to be a quality game. I'm kinda hoping for only one Metroid game per console from Nintendo, that's pretty much how it is traditionally going so far and how I would prefer it. There are some series/licenses/franchises that are more popular and mainstream, but then there are those that I believe should be left alone and released many years apart so that each entry is truly special.

Nintendo Gaming / Too Human Hype Thread!!!!!!!
« on: February 03, 2003, 10:13:52 AM »
Too Human most likely will come out, it was still in development but was put on hold in order to get Eternal Darkness out.

I do think it's a bit too early to hype considering the game hasn't even been shown on the GCN yet . Wait for E3

But like Rick said... there's a possibility that something else may appear out of nowhere.

Nintendo Gaming / Sonic Adventure DX
« on: February 03, 2003, 05:40:59 AM »
I believe Yuji Naka was more involved with Sonic Adventure than Sonic Adventure 2 (Yuji Naka also has been shying away from the Sonic series as of late to work on other titles, we've already seen that in NiGHTS, Burning Rangers, Samba De Amigo, and Phantasy Star Online).

That said... IMO Sonic Adventure is much better than Sonic Adventure 2.
Think Sonic Adventure 2, with more Sonic stages, less of those other characters, and with the shooting and hunting stages shortened (ie: annoys you for a shorter duration). But unfortunately... Sonic Adventure has Big the Cat... most pointless character in Sonic ever... The camera in SA2 was better than it was in SA, but maybe they might have fixed that in the remake. I was one of those people who would put SA2 in the 6-7 range out of 10. Wasn't a really bad game, but quite flawed.

Nintendo Gaming / Skies of Arcadia - best GC RPG
« on: February 02, 2003, 10:09:21 PM »
Good to see that you are all enjoying it

I played the game back on the Dreamcast, but I never finished it due to my file being erased and then finding out that the game was going to be released on the GCN. I'm currently putting Legends on hold until a later date cause I have other purchases I wish to make first... and of course there's the money and time constraint.

It was a great RPG on the DC. But had one major flaw... the random battles... there were just too many of them and too rampant. However, the good thing is that's the biggest flaw it had and Legends lowered the random battle ratio. So yeah... this game is definitely looking good

The story is quite clichéd at times but then again... I've seen so many clichés in video game storylines it's not really a surprising thing... although I still have my complaints I keep my vocalization about it to a minimal

Hello . Sky here.

Don't know where else to post an intro and I'm not sure if introduction threads are allow so... I'm just replying to this I guess

I'm how should you say... a fan of PGC that never really joined the boards.

I believe SC5 posts here, or at least on the ez-board. He knows me well enough from another board

BTW, I really like the look of the boards and hopefully I'll get along with you all well.

Just some background information:
I am an 18 year old male who has been gaming since I was 3 or 4 (can't remember exactly). I played the Game and Watch back in the day but never really got into gaming until my father bought me an NES. Ever since then I've become a video game fan. The consoles I own are: Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, Genesis, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Playstation, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Color, Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Game Boy Advance, Gamecube, and X-Box. I am a PC gamer as well as a console one.
However, my Genesis is currently dead and I never got a replacement... (may that change soon although I keep saying that I'm going to replace it since... well... last year... and maybe the year before that). I'm also currently in search of a Saturn although

I haven't really been keeping up with the video game scene until around the year 2000 though but ever since then I've been trying to catch up on everything. I'm mainly a Nintendo fan but I consider myself an unbiased gamer and that I judge all games fairly and I buy and play games regardless of what system they are on.

Anyways... pleased to meet you all, may I get along well with everyone on this board, and I hope I can make it out alive when people find out I own an X-Box

Also... it's quite late so I guess I'll start replying to the different threads tomorrow... er... rather... today... or maybe another day considering my current time constraints.
