Guarantee you that not all those games will make it this year

The whole Q&A session can be found on IGN.

Chaos actually have been brought up but Naka refuted that.

Isn't the purpose of Mario Kart to have fun though? Plus I really don't see much difference in strategy. More communication? Perhaps. But more strategy? Really nothing to be gained.

Nintendo Gaming / Silicon Knights... Next big thing?
« on: May 06, 2003, 02:19:28 PM »
I think it's too early to call for  them being better than Rare.

Silicon Knights has only released one game under Nintendo thus far (previous games include Blood Omen, Steel Empires, and some other games... although I have only played Blood Omen, which was a great game although had horrendous load times), and although IMO is was great, I wouldn't call is a masterpiece (although I would call the storyline such).

Rare over the years has delivered the amazing classics that are Donkey Kong Country and Goldeneye, as well as other great games such as Conker's Bad Fur Day (although I didn't like the change in direction), Blast Corps, and Jet Force Gemini (hated the last part with the Tribals though... that just killed the game for me but at least the rest was great). Banjo-Kazooie was good too but the controls just didn't feel solid enough for me and the collecting still urks me. Star Fox Adventures was a mediocre game, but everyone makes a flaw in their track record (although they sure took a long time to pop out a mediocre game) and at times multiple. We'll see how things are down the line when Rare releases their X-Box line-up. I'm personally looking forward to Kameo and Conker, Banjo is good but nothing special to me while Perfect Dark Zero doesn't really raise an eyebrow from me, especially compared to many other quality FPS games that have been released and will be release... is those games in my mind live up to the hype of course).

However, I honestly do look forward to Too Human and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes than Rare's offerings, but that doesn't mean I'm going to downplay Rare just because they happened to have start out rough this generation. For all we know they may actually release a new masterpiece in the future. Not say their going to but you never know.

How about this... do you think it is right to completely pass judgement on a game and decide right off the bat that you're not going to buy it or even pay attention to it just because of a few screens?

Besides... from what he said in the past I think he has the misconception that it's 2 people per kart, when in reality it's 2 characters.

And perhaps Kirby's Air Ride has come a long way. We'll see what happens with it at E3.

You are being a bit premature aren't you? Considering:
A) All you have is some info and screens.
B) You haven't even seen it in motion.
C) You haven't even played it yet.

Oh... and it's two characters, not two people.

Kirby's Air Ride looks... well... I dunno... somewhat alright I guess... but seems that IGN wishes it stayed cancelled. Has this game ever been exhibited in playable form in the past for the N64?

I asked you to substantiate your opinion, that is all. You don't have to but you certainly won't look like one of those people who make premature assumptions and/or judgements on a game if you did.

It would really help if you substantiate this... especially if you want to avoid *ahem* future arguments. If you can't substantiate it then I suggest you give up your dislike until you get to play it

Because people like to make pre-mature assumptions based on screenshots alone. Or they just mis-read something. Basically mouthing off on what they don't really know

I've made mistakes in the past as well, although never really as bad as making quick assumptions like this (although as of late I'm more careful with the information I receive so I don't make mistakes). Plus I am ready to admit my own mistake if I'm wrong.

But nevertheless it still confounds me how people can draw conclusions like this without knowing the whole story.

Anyone remember the early Metroid situation? It looks like an FPS so it'll play like an FPS . Deju vu...

Story weak? First off Halo didn't really have a weak story, it had a pretty good one, especially for an FPS.

Next off... you do not need cut-scenes to tell a story. We're playing video games to interact (or at least... should be... I hope...) and I'd better not be reading or watching for even 5% (uh... rough estimate) of a game. If I want to watch I'll go see a movie. Not to assume you are complaining about Halo's storyline because of a lack of cut-scenes, but it wouldn't hurt to cover that just in case

The game certainly has style, but impressions I've read so far haven't necessarily been well... favorable. Nevertheless it'll still sell millions of copies... quality not needed to sell.

Correction, it's eight people on TWO TVs. There are two CHARACTERS per kart. There are EIGHT racers on the track.

I wish Kojima and Konami would get off their asses and make an actual new game, instead of remaking an old one for a quick buck.

I'm sure this isn't just a regular remake. Otherwise they wouldn't have to make Silicon Knights develop the project and have Miyamoto and Kojima both overlook it. Just wait to actually see what extras there are before writing it off instantly.

TalkBack / Sega Reveals E3 Line-up

Sheesh, why complain about support when there's Billy Hatcher? I want a NiGHTS sequel probably more than most people here but at the same time I understand if Naka doesn't feel that he can come up with an idea for a sequel. At least then NiGHTS won't be rehashed.

Billy Hatcher sounds like a unique platformer to me even though it's odd. So what if Sonic is multiplatform? You still get it on the Cube and Naka surely will concentrate more on Billy Hatcher anyway. Even though they are called Sonic Team, Naka's more interested in original games rather than the Sonic series.

Billy Hatcher is a "cool exclusive" to me and I bet it'll turn out a lot better than most of those Sega games on the other consoles.

That said, I am really glad that Virtual On Marz is coming to the PS2. I am also disappointed that they changed Vectorman from the uniquely designed character to another generic robot. Otogi most likely won't turn out well, plus it's not a Sega game, it's a From Software game, Sega's just the publisher. Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution I probably won't get until it drops to Greatest Hits pricing considering I have the original Virtua Fighter 4. Finally... let's hope Altered Beast isn't too shallow

I suppose you a right at some points, Sky, but if you practiced some of what you preached and did not put words into my mouth then you would see what I am getting at. I said zelda would be better if it took some lessons from prime in terms of lenth, difficutly, and graphics. Not just graphics (which of course is opinion). How does my statement make you think that a realistic zelda would be flawless? It probably wouldn't.

Did I comment on your thread starter? No, it's just that when you put that specific post is when I came in. Have you noticed that? I put no words into no one's mouths. In fact I believe you may be practicing what you are accusing. I quoted you and that was all.

I never said that you thought that a realistic Zelda would be flawless. I just quoted you and made a joke comment on how I won't hold your posts in high regard in the future. It was a joke, but not one without purpose as at the same time it was to show you the flaw in what you have posted.

You said that Zelda would be better if it took some lessons in terms of length and difficulty, that I never argued with. Now you have also done it again... "and graphics". You also said "would". So there. I have the exact quote in my thread, my specific argument, as well as the argument of many others, is on your statement that Zelda would somehow be magically better if it had graphics that weren't cel-shaded, which is the conclusion that is drawn by multiple forum members to your posts in this thread, some with even earlier claims than me. You state that it's opinion, but at the same time what I mentioned earlier contradicts that.

"Would" it be better if it was a longer and more difficult? That would certainly be nice and I would surely welcome it in the next Zelda. But the claim on graphics is the key to the reason behind the controversy in this thread.

The graphics style you prefer is not the graphics style that "would" make it better. I hope you understand now.

In order to ensure clarity:
"Not just graphics"- But how will a change in graphics style make the game better if the other two elements stay the same? Take this for example, say the next Zelda is more difficult and longer than The Wind Waker, but stays with the same cel-shaded style. It'll be better right? Based on your previous posts I'm sure you'll be inclined to agree. Now take the same game and change it to non cel-shaded style. Is it more preferable to you? I suppose so based on your previous posts. But does that suddenly make it better? Nope. It "would" not make it better no matter what you "think".

Hate to sound mean but I do think that these posts are needed in order to establish a few things. Besides, if I don't do it others would and some may not be as tranquil in their rebuttals (which would only make things worse if they're hostile).

Since there have been differing viewpioints posted I must assume that you have either no opinion or you like WW graphics (since you wont tell me your opinion it must be a secret or something). If you do that is fine, but I would like to see a realistic zelda in the future (with graphics as well as gameplay). If you dont want that that is your opinion.

Since you apparently fail to realize why you have the negative views you have and why I quoted that particular post then I suppose I need to spell it out for you.

You say that having realistic graphics will make Zelda better somehow. Reality check, if Zelda has realistic graphics any flaws will still be there. The game will still be as "short and easy" as you put it as. Do you understand now? It's not your opinion that's the problem, it's your statement.

BTW, I do happen to like Metroid Prime more than Wind Waker. My opinion on The Wind Waker's graphics is neutral. You want to see a realistic Zelda, fine with me. But saying something like "I just think the next zelda game would be better if it was not cell shaded" is not an opinion, and is the reason to you being put down in this thread.

To be honest I didn't expect that I would be needed to explain it all to you, I always assume that people can easily read between the lines and grasp the meanings that are implied.

I don't believe I am required to state the reason, for others have already stated the same exact thing going in on my mind and if you don't see the flaw in your post then me stating my reason would be futile anyway. Apparently others can see the reasoning behind my post, why can't you?

Yes, I did see your comment that Zelda was a great game. You just happened to miss the reason why what I quoted from you doesn't necessarily sound intelligent.
