Best review I've read so far of this game.

I wanted to hear good things about this game but everyone seems to have the same complaints.

Sad.

One step closer to DKC2...

No DKC games.

Hard pass.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: The official NWR joycon graveyard.

I am so let down by Nintendo and the quality of their products in a physical sense. Remember when Nintendo Power would run those pics people had mailed in of GameBoys that had been set on fire, ran over by cement trucks etc and still worked?

Yeah flash forward 25 years and my 2DS breaks for no reason 1 day after the 90 day warranty expired.

My pro controller was the first joystick to drift. Well fine. I wanted one of those cool Zelda themed wired controllers anyway. Then the joycons start going down on my kid's switch. Nintendo fixes them for free but what a headache.

Then my joycons go down. Corona hits and the repair plant shuts down so I'm screwed. I go and buy these cool knock off GameCube styled joycons and they honestly rock except that there is no HD rumble so I just turned the rumble off. Fishing in AC is insane without HD rumble.

Then I learn the cotton swab and rubbing alcohol trick and it fixes my old joycons (still use the GCN styled ones. The button layout still feels too right in my hands) and then the  damn joystick starts going out on the Switch Lite I bought less than a month before for my wife so she could have her own AC Island.

Again the swab trick worked but this is getting a little ridiculous.

I was hyped about Dinosaur Planet.  A Zelda clone made by Rare?  Hell yeah!  And then it turned out to be a pretty unfun chore of a game and Rare's one Cube title before being purchased by MS.  E3 2000 is really the last E3 of classic Rare.  We didn't realize at the time that Perfect Dark and Conker were going to be the end of an era.  There is a part of me that still tells himself that it was shoehorning in Star Fox and switching from N64 to Cube and the upcoming departure from Nintendo (ie: wrap this game up NOW!) that screwed that game up.  Like in an alternate universe Dinosaur Planet was released as an N64 game and was great.

I saw a documentary on DP recently, something on youtube, where it was revealed that for years and perhaps even to this day, Rare kept life size statues of the original Dinosaur Planet characters in their front lobby for all to see. As a kind of "**** you" to Nintendo.

The history and development of that game is fascinating to me. The end result was a breathtakingly beautiful game that was so linear and boring it was beyond description.

Double Dash (easily the best Kart game in the series) would beat it's GCN brother Thousand Year Door. But not 64. 64 has been improved upon time and agan. Meanwhile Thousand Year Door is STILL the best Paper Mario Game.

What the hell?

Do they want the NES/SNES games to sell the online service or not? They couldn't throw in a DKC2 or something?

Nintendo Gaming / Re: How are y'all Switch Pro Controllers holding up?
« on: October 19, 2019, 03:32:35 AM »
The D-pad on my launch Pro Controller suffers terribly from that diagonal press issue. I can’t use it to play 2D games. The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Pro Controllers appear better in that regard but still not great.

It’s an excellent controller otherwise. The D-pad issue is inexcusable particularly from the company that created this functionality.

Same.

Really sucks when I want to use it to play SNES games. Guess I'll end up buying the SNES switch controller whenever they get back in stock.

The Mandela effect is totally real.

For instance, I know for a FACT that in the past KFC didn't give me diarrhea.

Now, every time I order a two piece I have to poop out my insides within the hour.

Total Mandela man.

I know there is some debate on who exactly owns the rights to the franchise but is there anyone out there who might have a clue on if Earthworm Jim is a possibility?

Because...please.

Well Sega was able to get Earthworm Jim on the Genesis mini.  So I imagine if Nintendo wanted to get the SNES version on this service it should be possible.

Didn't know that. Excellent. Sounds promising.

To celebrate the occasion Rick Powers should come back to the forums and lock a bunch of threads for being redundant.

Complete with Sanity effects if you fight too long in there perhaps.

How odd. I'll load it up in a few hours when work ends.

Maximillian Roivas as a playable SSB character would be dope.

19
I would do anything for more Eternal Darkness.

I played it to completion as much as any cube game not named RE4.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Animal Crossing, what's soo good about the game?
« on: February 12, 2019, 01:51:51 AM »

It's a pretty laid back social simulation game. You can set your own goal at your own pace because there's no definitive objective. It can reinforce positive communication and social skills compare to what Sims does. As an introvert, this is one of a few games that help me gain self-esteem. And also, no salt because there's no losing here.

See?

It only took 16 years and someone finally came up with a succinct answer to this thread title.

God Animal Crossing was so major back when it first came out for the cube.

I think it's damn near all we talked about for a month.

64 is still the gold standard.

If you play that one and find you don't care for it, then the very essence of Star Fox, i.e. corridor shooting, just isn't for you.

64 accomplished everything that Star Fox 1 and 2 set out to accomplish.

After that they had no idea what to do with the franchise and it has spun it's tires in the mud ever since.

Adventures is totally worth a run through. I think I've played it all the way through 4 or 5 times. The "puzzle solving" elements are tediously simple though. That's the main problem with the game.

The play control is tight, the graphics and sound were top notch at the time and still hold up well, the game play wasn't bad, though the combat system could have used some sprucing up, the game areas are nice and varied so you never feel bored with where you are in the game, it's just a fun little game...except for those puzzles.

They basic.

And that was what really disappointed gamers at the time and what held SFA from being anything more than a beautiful to look at and fun yet average game.

It just kills me...

Anyway, I recently hooked the Cube back up. Mostly to play Rogue Squadran but I also noticed my copy of Simpsons Road Rage was missing.

Big deal right? It's just a Simpson's themed Crazy Taxi rip off but damn it I LOVED that game. Its one of those games I could play to just zone out and relax. So I got myself a new copy and I've been going back through it after easily a decade and I still have the same experience.

It's just a great game and well worth the 20 bucks for the GCN copy I found on Amazon.

God bless Prime.

And God bless the comfortable as hell GCN controller. It makes those 4 hour sessions of THPS 4 or whatever not such a hand crampy process.

In terms of comfortability, still my number one controller.
