Mafia XXXII: Day 1
« on: March 25, 2009, 10:05:00 AM »
As the sun rose in the Mushroom Kingdom, dozens and dozens of copies of Toad were running around the castle, trying to do their errands.  Confusion was rampant, nametag sales were up, and Bowser was giddy on this very unusual day.

"As long as I wear this nametag, no one will suspect a thing!"

He gathered his evil troupe, the Mushroom Mafia, and laid out the plan.

"We'll start this thing off nice and slow; one Toad at a time.  Give it 8 or 9 days, and we should be running the joint!  I wonder if that throne comes in spikey green..."

---

Meanwhile, up the hill and down the road, the Toad who claimed to be Peach and the Toad who really was Professor E. Gadd were at the good professor's laboratory, going over the details of the cure.

"Princess, I've managed to string together a cure, but we're only going to be able to make one batch per day," E. Gadd said, sounding confident.

"Well hurry it up already!" the Princess replied.  "Bowser's still in the Castle playing camoulflage!  We don't know who he is, and we don't know what he's up to!"

"I will do my best."  Professor E. Gadd got to work.

Day 1 starts HERE.

Vote for 1 other player by typing "vote" and their name in bold.
(example: vote DrewMG)
If you change your vote, you must leave unbold (but not erase) your old vote.  If you're extra-nice, you'll strike out your old vote just to make sure it's not counted.

The day ends at 11 PM CST.

Night actions are due by 7 AM CST tomorrow.

Mafia Godfather, send in your hit and your assassin.

Luigi, send in your protection action.

Mario, send in your investigation.

Wario, send in your changed vote.

Hammer Bros, send in your hit.

Koopa Jr, send in your frame-job.

Just for reference, what time CST was this thread made? I need to count the hours from that time to 11 PM CST to find out what time the the thread should close in DST (Dasmos Standand Time).

Also is there any voting guidelines? Like vote once every two days or something?

Cool. For reference, to me, this thread should close at 2:30 PM DST (Dasmos Standard Time).

I should be at Uni at that time, but might be able to find a computer station. lots of italics

Toad runs into the garden, hops over a small fence, dodges like 13 other "Toads" and pulls up a turnip. Quickly. Very quickly. Probably more quickly than most other people in the game could pull up a turnip of similar size and weight.

"Waaahhhh turnip!" says Toad excitedly, holding it above his head with pride.

unvote Khushrenda

Earlier I voted for Khushrenda and deleted the message.  I didn't read the rules and about Peach's power, so I deleted it so that it would be easier to keep count of votes.  However, I found out about the Peach role through Maxi and how you can't delete your votes but must just unvote them.  This modification is so that I am playing by the rules and not cheating.  It wasn't by design and I am correcting my mistake.

WahhhhhhLuigi here! I rolled my dice and got a ten. After walking ten spaces, I stopped on a red square and lost three coins. Wahhhh! I hate this game. So, I walked over to the local tavern instead. I spent a few coins there. Money well spent. Ha ha ha. I wonder where my brother Wario is in all this confusion. I think I'll sprinkle a few gold coins on the floor and wait for him to collect them up because of his greed. 6 coins should do it.

If a player submits a night action, but is killed by another night action, the initial night action will be successful IF AND ONLY IF it is received before the night action that kills them.

Anyone can delete their own posts, but only in the mafia forum. Spak and Me figured this out last game.

Although it is a little dishonest and suspicious, in that DrewMG asked that if you had cast a vote and wanted to change that you merely just strike it out or remove the bold. Deleting the vote makes it impossible for Drew to figure out if Khush started a bandwagon for Peache's power. Khush would have known that. Something funny is going on.

Listen, Boshi, love the shades. They work for you. And the dog collar? Fits your blue perfectly.
Enough with the sweet talk. You say your vote can be bought with cookies, but the thing is, I can't bake worth crap. Especially cookies, no matter what I do I always end up burning them. I like black and all but not when it's the colour of cookies. Instead, let me paint a little picture for you. You know that blasted pink Birdo (i.e. Vudu)? She thinks she's all that just because she appears in all the games as of late. If we take her down a peg, maybe someone else might have a chance to join the spotlight. Like you. So why not vote Vudu as I have done?

I think I'm convinced, though you owe me cookies in the future. A vote for vudu

Just for the record in the Mafia thread anyone can delete their own messages.  I did it when I changed my from Khushrenda earlier today.  I deleted it because my vote was on completely false pretenses I thought Khushrenda wasn't very active in the thread, but he was.  I just missed his posts because I read Waluigi and not Khushrenda.

So the fact that he deleted his message isn't shocking.  But he needs to put it back because of the Peach power.  If he doesn't do that, then I would say that is suspicious behavior.

Also, voting for someone because of a vendetta or because they tricked us last game is stupid.  Last game as zero baring on who they are this game, or how they are going to be playing the game this round.  So, I would be careful.  We might accidentally vote out an important townie.  I am personally suspicious of anyone that uses the vendetta excuse for a vote out.

Why are people actually ignoring my argument against Khush in favour for vudu due to stupid vendettas or retarded reasons (i.e Ugly Birdo avatar, cookies). This is the first day and Khush has done something highly, highly suspicious for someone who knows the rules like Khush. This isn't a flimsy reason to vote someone, especially not on the first day. Reasons "vudu tricked me", "give me cookies and I'll vote" or "vudu stole Birdo" are flimsy and it's the reason that we always vote out key townie roles early on, because the mafia hide behind stupid reasons and the townies play along.

How's this Stratos, I will give you both Cookies and Muffins if you vote for Khush. Maybe even a scone.

It isn't? I think it's suspicious in any game, regardless of the Peach role in this game. The Peach role just makes it more important if a vote is deleted, not any more suspicious.

Just for the record, you're also now on my watch list for deleting votes and not just Khush. I don't want to be playing favourites here.

What the devil is going on in this thread? I think it's hilarious that I voted for Vudu as a joke... then forgot all about mafia because of the news and stuff from GDC, only to come back and see that I've started a bandwagon. =P

Vudu is just as likely to be mafia as anyone, so... meh.  But if a tie means no one dies, then we are just giving the mafia more of an advantage.... sooo... hmm... when does voting end?

Wow, turn my back for a short bit and boy do the cookies start to fly.

The cookie dough is mighty tempting. I don't know about that giant one though, I don't think I have a large enough place for it. That thing is bigger than Yo'ster Isle.

Donuts are a plus, I'm especially fond of Krispy Kreme. The raspberry filled ones fresh off the conveyor belt. That plus a good cup of coffee makes my day.

This is why I didn't want the game to start on Wednesday. I never have time to play on Wednesday.

Anyways, I come home to a pm box full of questions about my removed post. Sorry, that was an accident. I meant to modify it but I hit the remove button instead.

You may notice that Dasmos has a quote modified by me earlier in the day. That came from another error. I meant to quote what he said but I hit the modify button instead. I didn't realize what I had done at first but couldn't figure out why my post wasn't showing up. With the mod powers I have on this forum, I have an extra command for splitting a topic so it moves my buttons over from where they normally are. It was just a simple mistake.

And no, I wasn't trying to get out of voting Plugabugz. If a bandwagon did occur, my vote is quoted and I'd have let it be made known that I started it. But I didn't care to revote him and wasn't going to worry about it otherwise.

Now you know the rest of the story.
