Nintendo Gaming / GC2's Launch
« on: June 30, 2003, 11:30:54 PM »
Mouse, I understand where you're coming from, but the thing is that everyone would be getting free/discounted NINTENDO GAMES.  If anyone had the choice between a proven success like Mario and a generic racing game people will more than likely choose the Mario game.

Nintendo Gaming / Mega Man X Remake to GBA?
« on: June 24, 2003, 11:08:21 PM »
I too believe that releasing the Mega Man X games on the GBA would make Capcom tons of money.  But I doubt they'd do it, even though I'd buy it in a second.  At the moment Capcom seems to be focusing on making new games such as Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Zero.  I find it kinda funny that people complain when game companies release ports of SNES and Genesis games on the GBA and yet we're asking for ports from Capcom.  It just goes to show you people, myself included, really don't know what they want (Except the total elimination of MS and Sony with a reserection of Sega).

General Chat / The Goldfinger Concert Was Awesome
« on: June 14, 2003, 01:04:58 PM »
The greatest band in the world played a concert last night and it was freaking amazing.  the lead singer literally walked on the crowd and then started to crowd surf.  I was at the very front and almost got on stage.  I got a used guitar pick and was so close to snagging a drumstick.  I even got to sing into the mike.  So much moshing...  I can't wait to see another concert of theirs.

Heretic, just because people don't agree with you does not make them lame asses.  Comments like those will get this topic closed.  Anyway on to my point.  Your claim that children are 3x as mature now as they were before is completely wrong statement in general.  Children are not more mature then they were when any of us were kids.  If anything, kids have gotten less mature because they worry so much about not playing kiddy games.  Back when I was young, kids never thought games were mature or kiddy.  Games were just games then.  What really is shown nowadays, is how immature people can be.  "Oh, Mario Sunshine has Sunshine in the name, it's so g a y."  I hear this statement from Xbox fanboys all the time and it's really irratating.

Heteric, first of all, why would you do that? and second if you are going to combine two ideas, it might be a good thing to make them agree with each other

"7. People have to realize that Mario games are not supposed to be in the realm of reality! Mario is in a cartoon world! It should and never be in full realistic world! "

"A new Mario game much of the game has similar stuff to the older NES/SNES games but in full *********(now hear me it’s a change)********* 3D Realistic world."

Dude, you totally contridict yourself.  One minute you say that people need to realize that Mario not supposed to be in the realm of reality, and then the next minute you say put him in a 3d realistic world.  That would be terrible.  Oh, and why should Nintendo change their logo?  Do you want them to have some crap logo like the new Konami logo?  I mean, that logo was classic and was bastardized into the red on white name they have now.  It's sad, and Nintendo wouldn't change their logo for the world.

I'm not sure what type of media this is classified under, but Nintendo could use these for their next game boy.  Btw, does anyone know if Constellation 3D is still around?

Edit: I checked Nasdaq and it turns out the company went bankrupt.  Does that mean the technology is up for grabs? And if not who owns it?  They could use this same type of media for the next home console or even license it out to movie companies.  But I highly doubt the last part.  That's not NIntendo's style

Edit 2: This same kind of technology can also be used on the next GC.  On the clear discs they use, the information is layered which is why it can hold so much information.  They state that a 20 layer disc can hold 95GB and when using a blue lazer, a terabyte is possible.  That's a lot of space.  That info can be found here

General Gaming / PlayStation Portable, a serious contender to GBA?
« on: May 13, 2003, 06:10:07 PM »
Good post Nintega, I forgot to mention that in mine.  There are two things besides what I mentioned above that could break the PSP, Battery life and the complexity of 3d games.  Without ample battery life, the PSP will be nothing more than a souped up game gear.  And I know I'm kind of contridicting myself, but what if developers dont want to work with 3d?  Crazy question, but think about it.  The GBA is seen as a budget system and companies can afford to make a GBA game without worrying too much if it fails.  whereas, it means alot more to the developer and publisher if a console game bombs because it cost so much to produce.

General Gaming / PlayStation Portable, a serious contender to GBA?
« on: May 13, 2003, 05:30:37 PM »
This is a very serious system, and if nintendo doesn't do something, it could be the 64 all over again.  Ever since the GBA came out devlopers have been trying to put 3d games on the system with decent results.  Nintendo should take this as a sign that companies want portable 3d games.  Developers will go to sony to get the 3d they crave and gamers will go to sony because that's where the games are.  This is the same as it was in 1995-6 when the N64 came out and developers were mad that cartridges didn't have the size capicaty that they wanted to make their games.  For this reason many companies left Nintendo.  While I am nervous about this PSP thing, I think sony made a large mistake when designing this thing.  This was not using cd's and making it backwards compatible with the psOne.  Doing this would surely beat the Game Boy at it's own game.

As for names of this game (if the info is correct) you got to use his name in the title. Well, I mean you don't have to. His mug would be on the front cover and all but it'd be kind of cool.
"Suzuki Ichiro presents MLB Triple Crown 2003"
Is the name Triple Crown already taken? I'm drawing a blank.

Greenwood, you're mostly right but I have to correct you (It's my way).  Hideki Matsui plays for the Yankees but the Yankees don't put names on the back of their jerseys (really stupid).  And the thing about Yao Ming is that he's Chinese.  The Chinese put their last name first, than their first, then last name last (last, first, middle).  So in actuallity, his last name is actually on the back of his jersey.

Anyway, I always thought "Ichiro Suzuki Presents Line Drive Baseball 2003" sounded cool

Kenny, you cant change the animal crossing graphics.  That's just the style of the game.  I really like the design but the characters could use a little work.

I wouldn't say only racing games.  NST also made the Pokemon Puzzle League game for the N64

Nintendo Gaming / Midway losses, Blames Nintendo- less support
« on: May 02, 2003, 02:17:32 PM »
I agree with everything said here.  Companies should not expect people to buy half-assed games and expect them to sell.  The thing that really ticks me off is that companies blame the GameCube when their games don't sell but they come out months after they're out on competing systems.  If you wanted a game on 2 or more consoles and one is set to be released later with no additions, which one would you buy?

Dude, how did you get an avatar?

I just have to argue with that!  Solar Jetman, Blast Corps, and Battletoads are among the most original gaming experiences I have ever had.  Even many of the less original titles like Conker and Jet Force Gemini have a certain "difference" to them that I think few developers can compete with. I was expecting Kameo to be the next really innovative title in Rare's portfolio, but now I may never play it.

But life goes on!  I have other fun games to play, and while Rare will be sorely missed, I think Nintendo will keep the void filled for me.

Couch, I've never heard of Solar Jetman, but I will admit that Blast Corps was an original idea from Rare, but there wern't many.  I also completely agree with your thoughts on Conker and Jet Force.  It seemed that even if you didn't know what game you were playing, you could tell it was Rare because of the way it handled.  It's a really odd feeling that only Nintendo has besides Rare.  That is why we miss them so much.  It's like when you play a Rare game, you know you're playing a classic

Although many of you think that's wrong to judge Rare on SFA, I feel it's the right thing to judge a company on it's latest effort.  Rare was known for not being terribly original but taking a good idea and running with it.  With all the rumors of people leaving and such, it's hard to tell what kind of company Rare is anymore.  Rare used to be, and maybe is an amazing company, although not terribly original.  They took a classic character that got left in Mario's dust (Donkey Kong) and single handedly used him to save the SNES against the Playstation.  They were the company that brought Nintendo back to the arcades.  They were the company that did the impossible, beat Mario at his own game with Banjo-Kazooie.  And they created the most famous FPS since Doom with Goldeneye.  So what do all these achivements mean now?  If SFA is any indication, it shows a company that is past it's prime and is trying to relish in its glory days.  Even with all the problems Rare has, I miss them too.

Slab, I was looking up some articles on the fluorescent technology and I cannot find anything dating after 2000.  Do you have more recent links to the technology?  What happened to Constilantion 3D?
